Chapter sixteen
"Man, you wouldn't believe what I just went through.” Drew groaned.
Jake and Killian had walked into the office half an hour ago. After sorting out the immediate problem, the duo decided to relax a bit before heading over to their crib.
"What?", Jake said.
He was dressed in gray slacks over a white open collared shirt. Killian on the other hand was dressed in dark blue shorts over a red t-shirt. Both of them were comfortable in their clothes while Drew desperately wished he could shed his Armani suit and be free.
"Benita, that's freaking who", he said.
"Wait... Bitch was here? What's her business here", Killian said.
"I was surprised too when she popped up on my door. She had a sob story of missing me and all that crap but as the smart man I am, I knew she was lying the minute she walked in here", Drew said.
"Man, you need to be careful how you deal with her. This girl might have a personal vendetta against you even though she has no reason to. Just be careful man, Benita could be a threat", Jack said.
He was always the serious one and at that moment, Drew was grateful because in moments like this he needed someone aside from himself who took everything seriously. Killian on the other hand was a good friend but he tends to take everything as a joke. He was the fun in the party but Drew knew that this wasn't the time to joke.
"I know and I perfectly understand which is why I'm glad I've finally found my mate", Drew grinned.
Killian almost fell out of his chair while Jack gave an ear splitting grin. Drew could tell that they were surprised by this because none of them ever expected him to have a mate this early.
"No shit?", Jack grinned.
"No shit. She's beautiful, you need to see her", Drew Laughed.
"Do we know her?", Killian asked.
Drew gave them a rundown of everything about Laura. From the expression on their faces, they were quite surprised that Drew would decide to have a mate from Alpha Jed's pack. They knew all about him. In fact, there was hardly anyone who didn't know Alpha Jed. He was a thorn in most people's flesh and he never seemed to be remorseful.
"Laura, she's an Alpha wolf".
"Okay... That wasn't expected but I'm happy you've finally gone off the market. An Alpha wolf isn't one to be played with, I hope you can stay in your pants dude", Killian laughed.
Drew huffed, he knew that they would say this but he was fully ready to commit himself to her. He was her mate, same with her and he vowed to stay true to her no matter what happens.
"An Alpha wolf isn't one to cross man, stay sane. I'm saying this because I know how crazy you can be especially when you see a beautiful woman", Jack said.
"Trust me guys, I have no intention of hurting Laura. She has everything I need in a mate and more. I'll arrange a meeting soon so you guys can get to meet her but for now, she's all mine", Dre grinned.
"No pressure man", Killian smiled.
"So, what's the recent development concerning business most especially the consignment", he said.
"You wouldn't believe what I discovered", Jack said.
"Shoot", Drew said, sitting back on his chair.
"Remember when I said there were some forces holding onto the consignment? Well, I discovered that those forces were our archenemy, Alpha Jed and his entire pack", Jack said.
The office went silent as Drew tried to understand what Jack had just said. Alpha Jed and his entire pack were the most feared group in the whole city. Their operations were legendary and the only people who could openly challenge them was Brian and his pack.
The pack, headed by Alpha Jed was a deadly group that was responsible for most killings and destructions in the city but the naive humans didn't know that and blamed it on terrorists when in fact, Alpha Jed's pack were the actual terrorists.
"Any solution yet?", Drew said.
He couldn't afford that consignment to land in the hands of Alpha Jed, a man he hated with every fiber of his being. Jed had crossed his path several times before and Drew was patiently waiting for the day he could destroy him once and for all.
"Yes, I've called for a meeting between the two groups, that is we and them", Jack said.
"That's bullshit Jack and you know it. That consignment belongs to me, why should I have a meeting with Jaco over my own property. Pure bullshit Jack", Drew thundered.
He was on his feet, pacing about as his mind thought desperately on what to do. He had no doubt that the meeting would end in a disaster since he and Jed never seemed to see eye to eye.
"Drew, sit your ass down and listen to me", Jack said.
Drew reluctantly sat down as he gave Jack the stink eye. For the life of him, he couldn't understand why Jack of all people had to set up that meeting, knowing fully well that he and Jed were enemies.
"Do you honestly think that you can fight Jed over this? For God's sake Drew, they're as powerful as we are and the only way we can talk this out is by having a meeting on both sides", Jack said.
"To be honest, I agree with Jack. Talk to Jed to rescind his hold on your consignment and you'll get it easily. We all know that Jed likes to throw his weight around and this is one of those moments", Killian said.
"Are you guys even listening to yourselves? For crying out loud, that consignment belongs to me. Why should I meet Jed over my own property?", Drew seethed.
"They are just as powerful as we are. And Drew, you're missing one tiny detail, that consignment passed through their turf", Jack said.
"I don't care if they're powerful or whatnot. All I know is that I've got more guns than them", Drew said.
Since Alpha Drew became the Alpha, he had amassed so much wealth that he was able to gather enough ammunition that could accommodate a whole army.
"Well yes, that is true. Look, we're not here to match strength or power, all I'm saying is you meet with the man and talk things out, that's all", Killian said.
For a long while, Drew remained quiet as he thought about everything they had said. He hated to accept it but he saw sense in what they said. Jed wasn't like the petty group he dealt with, he was as stubborn as he was and the only way he could get his consignment back from him was to apply wisdom.
"Alright, when is this meeting supposed to be held?"hesaid, finally.
"Tomorrow evening at the casino. I'll put added security by all the exits and entrances in case Jed decides to try anything funny", Jack said.
"Alright but I swear it, if Jed decides to play gun, I'll give him bomb", Drew vowed.
By now, he could feel his wolf threatening to break to the surface. His wolf hated him as much as he did and he was glad they were on the same page. It made it easier knowing that someone in him shared the same idea.
Laura too hated him like the dirt on her feet and Drew was quite glad he had someone that shared the same mind with him.
"It won't get to that, trust me", Killian said.
Drew nodded, he had nothing else to say as his mind took over from where his words stopped. He could only hope that Jed holds the meeting without any tricks. Drew wasn't a murderer like Jed and he didn't want to hurt anyone during their confrontation.
Later on, his friends left while he was left all alone in his office, staring at the fading sun. He had a lot to do especially as the leader and he vowed to achieve that at all cost with or without the moon goddesses help. Alpha Jed had been a huge thorn in their flesh and it was time to repay him back in his own coin.
For centuries, they had been living in fear, hoping that they didn't become his next target. Now that he had friends around and his darling mate, Alpha Drew knew it was time to take back what they lost. By the end of the day, Alpha Jed and his entire pack won't know what hit them.
