Chapter nineteen
Jack and Killian rushed Alpha to his cave where Laura was waiting for him. His mansion would have been the best bet but they weren't too sure if Alpha Jed and his son wouldn't attack the building too. As it stood, they weren't quite sure if Alpha Jed was responsible for the attack but they didn't want to take chances on Alpha's life.
Upon seeing her mate, Laura wept. Drew's body was filled with blood, so much blood she had a hard time believing it was his.
''Oh my gosh!'' Laura screamed.
''Laura, you just have to calm down. This isn't the time to scream and shout. We have to look for what to do. Alpha Drew is clearly in pain.'' Killian said.
''My step father is responsible for this.'' Laura croaked.
She cradled Drew's head on her lap, sobbing silently. She could feel his aura but it was weak. It was so weak that she didn't know if he would survive the attack.
''We aren't sure yet if he's responsible but we don't want to take chances, that's why we brought him here.'' Jack said.
Just then, Alpha Drew coughed, spitting out thick mucus of blood. He opened his eyes, staring at his surroundings as he tried to get a bearing of where he was. It was clear now, he was still lucid and Laura knew it would take a while before he came around.
''Drew. Drew can you hear me?'' Laura sighed.
''He's still in shock.'' Killian said.
Alpha Drew growled, sending the birds that stood on the rocks away. Killian and Jack were a bit scared as a result of his fury. Never had they seen him lose control like he did now. No doubt, the attack affected him more than he was letting on.
''Drew.'' Laura said, quietly.
She was in pain as a result of what her mate was going through. His pain was her pain, his joy was her joy and anything that affected him was bound to affect her too.
His eyes focused on his mate and soon, everything became clear to him. There was a look of pain in his eyes which was replaced by sadness then finally anger. Laura knew why he was angry. He was angry because he couldn't stop the attackers from destroying his club, anger because if they could attack them now, what was the guarantee that Alpha Jed and his son wouldn't be coming for her soon.
''Laura.'' Drew said.
Tears of joy streamed down her eyes upon hearing her name on his lips. Finally, out of the fog that had clouded them, her mate recognized her.
''Hey boss. Good to have you back.'' Jack grinned.
Laura hugged him, peppering kisses on his cheek. Drew chuckled, attempting to sit up but he couldn't as the pain he felt was great. Apparently, his wolf still needed enough time to heal and stressing him could lead to another thing.
''You need to allow your body to heal Drew.'' Laura said.
''Please tell him.'' Killian chuckled.
Drew threw him a nasty look. Killian chuckled, backing away. He wasn't going to be Alpha Drew's problem.
''I will rest but i need to find out who is responsible for the attack.'' Drew said.
''It has to be my step father and his son. I'm very sure about that.'' Laura seethed.
The hatred she had for them was so great now she was finding it difficult to breathe. They were bent on making her life a living hell but that was one thing she wouldn't allow them to do. She was determined to prove to them that she was greater than them and there was nothing they would do that would harm her.
''Well we can't be too sure yet until we get to the root of this issue.'' Drew said.
Alpha Drew rose up, stretching himself to full height. Apparently, being that he was an Alpha Wolf he had regained back some of his strength that was lost in the course of the attack.
''Where are you going?'' Laura asked.
''I need to access things. I need to know if Alpha Jed and his son would plan a reprisal attack.'' Drew said.
''But you haven't rested fully.'' Laura said.
''I will do that along the way.'' Drew said.
He said before leaving the cave with Killian and Jack.
