Chapter thirty-six
You're back?" Laura smiled.
She walked over to her mate, hugging him. Drew gripped her waist, pulling her towards him. For once in his life, he was glad to be alive to come back to this damsel.
"I am. How are you, my love?" Drew smiled.
"I'm fine. Come, take a bath so you'll eat".
"I know what I want to eat," Drew hummed.
She pushed him to the couch, straddling him. Laura yelped, laughing as her mate clipped her hands in a vice grip. She loved it when he acted all possessive and in love with her, she could never get tired of his insatiableness.
"Hmm, you smell like vanilla," Drew growled.
He kissed her, drawing her lower lips to his. He always loved it when his mate was ready for him, he just loved her all the more for it.
"That's because I just had a bath and you are in desperate need of one," Laura chuckled.
"I will, when I have my way with you" Drew smiled.
He gripped her waist, pulling her much closer to him. Laura yelped when she felt his hard member poking her thighs. She grabbed it still clad in his trousers as she stroked him, loving the way he was relaxed in her arms.
"Don't do that or I'll come all over you" Drew growled.
"What if I want you to?" Laura smiled.
She unbuckled his trousers, pulling out his member. It rested in her hands and she was glad that he fit her so perfectly. Laura got down on her knees, taking him whole inside her mouth, she pumped several times until he shot out his sperm into her mouth.
"Gosh, Laura!" Drew laughed.
"I told you I have several traits and that's just one of them" she smiled.
Later on, after Drew truly had his way, Laura forced him into the bathroom. When he was done, she served him his favorite meal, watching as he wolfed everything down.
"So tell me, how did the mission go?" Laura asked.
"Do you want to know about all that?" Drew asked.
"Yes".
Drew smiled. Not many girls would want to be bothered by the details of his battle and Laura wanted to know about it proved that she was brave at heart. He recounted everything that had happened to her, loving the way she understood without her judging him for once.
As Drew recounted the experience, he stopped for a minute to think about how lucky he was to have survived the attack. If Jack hadn't given him the gas mask at that moment, he could have been dead as there was little to nothing his wolf could do.
"Oh my gosh! You guys fought with Alpha Jed?" Laura asked.
She could hardly believe it when Drew told her. Alpha Jed was one of the most feared men in the whole country and her greatest enemy and Drew had just attacked him, almost killing him. She didn't feel bad for him though because Alpha Jed was known to never show mercy to anyone. She vividly remembered all she had suffered in his hands before she escaped.
"Yes. Do you know him?" Drew said.
"Well, not really. It's my father though, " Laura said.
Drew raised a brow, he wanted to know more about her involvement with someone like Alpha Jed asides from the fact that she had suffered in his hands. Laura didn't know whether to divulge the information or not but she swore to always be true to Brian and this was one of those moments.
"My father, the real one, did some business with him a few years back," Laura said.
"Business? What kind of business?" Drew asked.
"I'm not so sure but it's a business involving poisons. To be honest, I don't know what my father's intentions were at that period but I didn't think to ask" she said.
Drew remained quiet, his thoughts taking on different twists. He couldn't piece anything together on why Laura's father would be involved with someone as dangerous as Alpha Jed.
"What year was this?" Drew asked.
"About twelve moons ago which would roughly be three years ago. I was much younger then so I didn't bother to ask. Wait... Do you think something's wrong?" she asked.
There was a look of confusion in her eyes as she tried to piece everything together. Now that she thought about it, she knew that her father had no reason to be in the company of someone like Antonio. Anyone who was found with him was there with a bad intention.
"Your Father... What did he deal with originally?" Drew asked.
His mind was currently on to something and he needed every clue he could get to piece it all together.
"He was a pharmacist, he produced drugs too’’ Laura said.
A sick feeling twisted in Drew's guts as an explanation for this filled his mind. He didn't want to tell Laura what he thought about but the more he thought about it, the more it sounded logical.
"Drew, talk to me. What's wrong?" Laura asked.
"I... It's nothing, just some silly thought that came into my head" he smiled.
"No Drew, I want to hear that silly thought," Laura said.
She moved closer to him, gripping his hands in a silent plea. She needed to know what he was thinking about. It concerned her father and indirectly, it concerned her too.
"Your father's drugs... Have they ever been sold in the drug market?" Drew asked.
"That's a dumb question Drew, of course, they have", Laura chuckled.
When Drew refused to join in her laughter, Laura stilled as she stared at him. Her mind was working furiously as she tried to put the pieces of everything together.
"You think my father took poisons from Alpha Jed to create his drugs?" Laura asked.
She felt sick to her stomach as she thought about the possibility that her father had sold drugs to Alpha Jed. She shuddered as she thought about the implications of that.
Drew shrugged. He had already sent messages to Jack and Killian through their secured mind link to search for her father.
"No! That's impossible. My father can be anything but he's not a murderer" laura said.
"I'm not saying he is darling," Drew said.
"Then what the hell are you saying" she screamed, rising to her feet.
Sparks were already flying out of her hands and Drew knew that soon, she would launch them at him. Laura's magic had almost ridden to the surface due to her anger that was slowly rising to the surface.
"Babe, calm down. It's all just an assumption" Drew said.
"How dare you!" Laura screamed.
Drew grabbed her, kissing her to douse her anger. He knew that was the only way and he was glad when her powers flowed back into her.
"I hate you," Laura sighed.
"And I love you and we'll figure this out together," Drew said, stroking her hair.
"So you think Laura’s father has a connection with Alpha Jed?" Jack asked.
They were at the club, two days after the attack on the building. Drew had told them earlier all about his suspicions of Laura's father with Alpha Jed.
"Yes, I think so,’’ Drew said.
He twirled his drink which was left untouched. Ever since he told Laura about his suspicions, their relationship hadn't been the same. She refused to talk to him and the only time they did was when they told each other where they were going.
Drew knew she was hurt but he also knew that if he hadn't told her about his suspicions, she would be angrier especially if she learned the news outside.
"I'm sorry to say this boss but that's a stupid assumption. I mean, Laura’s father was a pharmacist, a lifesaver and I don't think he'll be capable of doing that" Killian said.
"You'd be surprised at the things people do for money," Drew said.
"Wait, you think this is about money?" Jack said.
"Yes. If it isn't, I don't see any reason why the professor should be involved with a criminal like Alpha Jed" Drew said.
He downed his drink in one gulp, pouring another shot into his glass. He hated feeling this way, hated to think that his mate now despised him due to what he said.
"How did she take this news?" Killian asked.
"Badly. Heck, she's not even talking to me" Drew huffed.
"I wouldn't expect anything less especially since you accused her father of something that might not even be true," Jack said.
"I think we should leave that issue for now and focus on our meeting with the army chief tomorrow," Killian said.
"Finally" Drew slurred.
"Man, I think you've wasted" Jack chuckled.
He took the drink from him, throwing the rest of the contents inside the sink. Drew slumped on the couch, stretching his legs.
"You guys talk, I'll listen" he hiccuped.
"We've done most of the planning, what's left is to arrange the ammo in such a way that the government soldiers at the border wouldn't suspect a thing," Killian said.
"How do you propose this?" Drew asked.
"I don't know yet but I'll think of something before we finally send it in. All we have to do now is make sure the meeting goes well tomorrow" Killian said.
"And you need to be on your best behavior Drew. I can't have you dead drunk in front of the army chief" Jack said.
"Sure...sure.. trust me.." Drew slurred.
Jack placed Drew's leg on the couch as he watched him fall asleep. There was no use talking anymore especially now that their alpha was wasted. Killian sent a quick message to Laura to inform her that Drew wouldn't be coming home that day.
Laura replied almost immediately, informing them to take good care of him. She missed him but at that moment, she needed to clear her head.
The next morning, Drew woke up bright and early. The intoxicating drink had cleared away from his eyes.
"Who's driving?" Drew asked.
"You are," Killian said, throwing the keys at him.
The trio headed towards the car, climbing in as they made their way to the restricted area that the army chief lived in.
When they got there, Drew and his friends were subjected to a rigorous search. When they were certified clean, they walked into the building.
"Keep your eyes and ears open," Drew said.
"Yes, boss".
They got to the large visiting area and each took a seat as they awaited the army chief's arrival. Soon, the pot-bellied man walked in, flanked by two soldiers.
"Welcome friends" he smiled.
Drew rose from his seat, shaking his hands. The army chief shook the others as they sat down. Drew wasn't fooled, he knew that all these were just a cover-up for why they were here.
"I'm sorry for having this meeting this late. I've been... Engaged in recent times" Drew said.
"It's okay, the good thing is you're here," he said.
"So, let's get down to business shall we?" Drew said.
"Of course".
"Sir, you've requested a hundred thousand ammo of different specifications. With all due respect sir, what's the reason for this? Jack asked.
"I need them because, after this, I won't be ordering for a long time," he said.
He stroked his beard as he stared at the trio. Drew didn't understand what he said but he decided to flow along.
"So that's the reason why you're ordering a whole lot?" Killian asked.
"Yes".
"I'm afraid sir, there would be some problems,’’ Drew said.
"Problems? Whatever do you mean" the army chief said.
"Ammos of that amount can't be transported through the borders. There are tons of security men who are guarding the border and once they get to know about what we're carrying, it would get seized.’’ Drew said.
For several minutes, the army chief remained quiet, stroking his mustache as he was deep in thought.
"Is there another solution to this? I'm afraid that I do not control all the security outfits" he said.
"There's one solution but if we employ that you have to pay heavily" Drew said.
"I don't care how much I have to pay, I need those guns" he snapped.
"Do you want to know the solution or not?" Drew snapped.
He wouldn't sit there and watch the army chief talk to him and his friends with that tone. It was a business discussion and not some order he was receiving.
"What's the solution?" the army chief asked.
"Underwater" Drew said.
The trio sat patiently, waiting for the army chief to decide whether he would employ that method or not. They could tell that he was having a hard time deciding whether to accept it or not.
"Alright, I accept" he finally said.
"It's a deal" Drew said.
