Chapter fifty six
"Here, call your Alpha Jed. We need to know what's happening.'' Drew said, handing her the phone.
"I can't Drew, I don't think I can. I do not want to talk to him especially after hearing this,'' she said.
"Okay, should I speak to him then?'' Drew said, gently.
Laura thought about this for a while and she decided it was best if she spoke to her stepfather herself. She wanted to hear his voice when he denied the allegation. Laura sighed, taking the phone from him. She dialed Alpha Jed's number, hoping that he would pick it up.
"Yes.'' Alpha Jed snapped.
"Hi... Alpha Jed.'' Laura croaked.
"Yes Laura, what do you want?'' he said.
"Yes... I need to ask you something real quick.'' Laura said.
"You've always been asking for something your whole life, what is it? Let's hear it.'' he huffed.
''Do you know anything about my biological parents?'' she asked.
For several minutes, the man she called Alpha Jed remained silent. That was all the answer Laura needed. Now, it was confirmed that she had been living with strangers all along. She choked as her eyes gave way to tears.
"Why? Why didn't you tell me ever since? Why wait until I came of age.'' Laura sobbed.
Drew did his best to comfort her but she was inconsolable as more tears fell down her eyes.
"Your biological parents never wanted you so I took you in. You should be doing me a favor by thanking me considering that I kept you when no one wanted you.'' he snapped.
If he called an attempted rape ''taking care'' of then he was the evilest man Laura had ever come across.
"Is that the reason why you decided to keep this secret from me? You've hurt me, so deeply you can't imagine it.'' Laura sobbed.
Drew had had enough. He snatched the phone from her, placing it in his ear. Laura could tell that he was about to get an earful and she was glad that someone had the strength to challenge the wizard of a man called her Alpha Jed.
"Now you listen to me bastard. I know the little story you gave is a pure lie, I'm going to find out the truth and when I do, you and your son better run far away because I'm going to make you wish you didn't exist.'' Drew seethed.
"Who the hell are you?" he screamed through the phone.
"Oh, you don't know. I'll tell you who I am. I'm Drew, adopted son and friend of Nikolas and the heir apparent to the four kingdoms. You have troubled us for far too long but an end has finally come. I will make you pay for everything you've done. You hear me, Jed?'' Drew growled.
He cut the call, flinging the phone away in his haze of anger. He walked towards Laura, comforting her to the best of his abilities.
"It's okay baby, it's okay,'' Drew said.
"All these years, I've been living with strangers.'' Laura gulped.
"You have but you know what I see in you? I see a smart, funny woman who cares for everyone around her. Laura, you're a fucking genius that at times, I don't know the magic you use.'' Drew smiled.
"Are you just saying this because you mean it or you want to get into my pants.'' she chuckled.
"Both but I'm leaning more on the latter if you let me.'' he grinned.
Laura hit his chest playfully as she dried the last of her tears. Now that Drew had talked to Alpha Jed, she was feeling much better than before. Even though she had no idea who her real parents are, that didn't mean she should feel less of herself. She was still the same woman she was yesterday and nothing has changed.
"Thank you, baby, I wouldn't have done any of this without you.'' Laura smiled.
"You don't need to thank me, that's what I'm here for. I know you wouldn't hesitate to do the same for me if the reverse was the case.'' Drew smiled.
"I love you,'' Laura said.
"I love you too and I will never stop loving you.'' Drew smiled.

"How did Laura take the news?" Jack asked.
They were at the private club, putting final touches on the preparation for Drew's coronation. Drew knew that the event was going to be a high-profile one and he didn't want anything to disrupt it.
"To be honest, she was a sobbing mess. I had to call the bastard, Alpha Jed to confirm our claims and it was true, they aren't her parents. Now, we're on a quest to find who are real parents are.'' Drew said.
"I'll help in the search too. I'm very sure we'll find them, there's no doubt about that.'' Killian said.
"Thanks, guys, I appreciate your help,'' Drew said.
Just then, he felt a tingling sensation in his body and he knew that Laura was around. He wasn't expecting her here so he was a bit surprised when he caught her scent in the air.
"Laura's here,'' Drew said.
He looked around, hoping to see her standing somewhere but he didn't. Her scent grew stronger and Drew was taken aback when she appeared.
Jack and Killian laughed as they saw the look of confusion and a bit of fear in their friend's eyes. They knew that this affected Drew more than he was letting on.
"Laura, you startled me.'' Drew laughed.
"Oops, I'm sorry. I just discovered that magic and I decided to try it out here.'' Laura said.
"Wait. Don't tell me you came from the house.'' Drew said.
"Yes, I did. It's called teleportation using my Alpha powers.'' Laura chuckled.
"Hi, Laura.'' Killian smiled.
Jack waved at her as he gathered all the papers they were working on. There were some things Laura shouldn't know and Drew had told them earlier about it.
"Oh... I'm so sorry guys, hi. How are you doing?" Laura said.
"I'm good.'' Jack grinned.
"Guys, duty calls. I'll be in the private area if you need me.'' Drew said.
He led his mate towards the private area, rolling his eyes when he saw the look his friends gave him the thumbs up.
"I missed you,'' Laura said.
She wrapped her arms around his neck, drawing him closer to her. Drew shut the door with his leg, shutting out the noise that was in the background too. He gripped her waist, planting a kiss on her lips.
"It's just been a few hours Laura, surely you're the fiend,'' Drew said.
"No, I'm not. That title belongs to you and you alone.'' Laura laughed.
They took their seats on the long couch as Laura rested her head on her mate's shoulders. The loud music coming from the speakers was audible even within the soundproof room they were in.
"How are you?'' Drew asked.
"I'm fine. To be honest, I'm just there.'' Laura said.
"I know you're just trying to cope with everything that has happened but baby, I want you to know that I've got you. If there's anything you ever need to talk about, I'll be here.'' Drew smiled.
"Thank you, I'll keep that in mind.'' Laura smiled.
"So, what do you want to drink?" Drew asked.
"Nothing, I'm fine. Seeing you here is enough for me.'' Laura laughed.
Drew moved towards her, gripping her waist. He was glad she was here, seeing her alone was enough food for him.
"The guys and I were just talking about preparations for the coronation,'' Drew said.
"Oh, how's the preparation going?" Laura asked.
"It's going well. I'll ensure there's tight security at the venue. I don't want to risk your life and that of the people who would be attending the coronation.'' Drew said.
"You wouldn't, darling. Remember I have magic on my own and thanks to you, I've been able to get comfortable with it.'' Laura smiled.
"You should babe. You're a strong woman and with your magic, you're so damn hot.''Drew smiled.
"I'll be going over to the boutique tomorrow to get my dress for the coronation,'' Laura said.
"Okay, but I'll be going with you,'' Drew said.
"There's no need to worry about going with me,'' Laura said.
"No, I insist. You should know that by now.'' Drew said.
"But baby, you don't have to bother about going with me. I'll be fine.'' Laura said.
"You know quite well I wouldn't pay heed to all what you're saying. I'm going with you and there's nothing you can do about it.'' Drew huffed.
Laura laughed, holding her side. The look on her mate's face was funny, if she had a mirror she would show him his face.
"Okay... Okay, fine. You win.'' Laura laughed.
"Better because I was ready to bundle you and take you there myself.'' Drew smiled.
"One p.m sounds okay,'' Laura said.
She moved towards him, straddling his waist. Drew gripped her hip, moving her sensuous body towards his erection. Laura gasped when she felt the tip of his huge member poke through her thighs.
"It sounds okay and you sound even better.'' Drew grinned.
He unbuttoned her blouse quickly to reveal her caramel skin which glistened under the glare of the sharp chandelier. Laura's jet-black hair was packed into a loose ponytail and Drew had wasted no time in freeing it from the hair band.
Her hair tumbled down in loose curls as Drew revealed the silkiness of her hair. He was blessed to have her in his life and he wouldn't hesitate to show her how much she meant to him.
"Have I ever told you how beautiful you are?''Drew smiled.
"Yes, you've told me that times without numbers. It's like a chant now.'' Laura chuckled.
"That's because it's true and you're a freaking angel. The moon goddess took out time to create you.'' Drew said.
"I guess she did and you're one lucky man to have me,'' Laura said.
"I'm not lucky, I'm blessed and everyone can see that.'' Drew smiled.
Just then, Laura sat still as her magic showed her a vision. She stared into space as the vision appeared before her eyes.
"Baby, what is it?" Drew asked.
"There's going to be an attack here now,'' she said.
Drew placed her gently on her feet, helping her with her shirt. He drew out his guns from where they were hidden. He kissed her just as they heard the first sound of gunshots.
