Chapter fifty eight
"Hey man.'' Killian smiled.
They had gotten to Jack's room and were quite surprised to see him looking much better than they expected. This was all thanks to his wolf who aided the healing process. The doctor left quietly, giving them the much needed privacy.
"I'm glad you didn't die.'' Drew chuckled.
They fist bumped, cracking jokes as they laughed. Laura stood at a corner watching them with her heart filled with joy.
"Hey Laura.'' Jack smiled.
Laura walked towards him, a radiant smile on her face. She gave his hands a gentle squeeze, grateful that he was alive.
"Thank you for saving me. I won't thank these two fuck heads because they didn't know when I really needed help.'' Jack chuckled.
Drew laughed, a deep belly laugh that had all of them laughing too. Laura was glad that they were all happy and at that moment, she knew she had found a family in them.
"I need to get out of here ASAP, hospital's makes me sick.'' Jack hissed.
"The doctor said you'll get discharged today but if you ask me, I prefer you out of here ASAP.'' Drew said.
"Then let's bloody go.'' Killian said.
"Guys, enough with the shots of testosterone. Since the doctor said he'll get discharged before the end of the day, let's adhere with what he said.'' Laura said.
"Our Luna has spoken.'' Drew grinned.
Laura rolled her eyes, walking over towards a huge couch. She took a seat as she stretched out her tired legs. She'd been standing for a while now and she had noticed that whenever she stood for a long time, she usually gets fatigued.
"So, how are preparations going for the coronation?" Jack asked.
"Fine, preparations are already in place. Laura and I have decided to move the coronation a week ahead to enable you get better.'' Drew said.
"Really why? I don't really matter in this, you guys should have gone ahead with the date earlier.'' Jack said.
"That's where you're wrong man. You're a part of us and nothing is going to change that.'' Killian said.
"They're right. I've come to take you Jack, in fact all of you like a family. So whatever happens to you happens to all of us.'' Laura said.
"I love you so damn much now you don't know what it means.'' Drew said.
"I love you too baby.'' Laura said.
"Oh gosh, can you take the sappy romance elsewhere? It's not fair on us singles.'' Killian groaned.
"Too bad you're without a mate. You really don't know what you're missing.'' Jack laughed.
"It'll be a rude shock to you all when I finally find my mate.'' Killian smiled.
"I think I'll be old and gray then.'' Jack teased.
"Stop it guys.'' Laura giggled.
"Hey, did you guys inform my mate about any of this?" Jack said.
"No, we didn't. We thought it'll be too early and we didn't want to create panic considering the condition she is.'' Laura said.
Jack sighed, a lot of relief leaving his body. His body was much more relaxed now that he knew his mate didn't know anything about what he was going through.
"I think you should call her as soon as we leave. I can feel her aura from here, she's worried.'' Laura said.
"I'll do it as soon as we leave. Thank you Laura, in fact all of you. If you hadn't come to my rescue at that moment, I would have been dead.'' Jack said.
"Next time, you won't be in this position. I won't allow it, I'll be tightening the security at the club to a level 8.'' Drew said.
"Level 8. Heck, that's almost the same security at your father's vault.''Killian grinned.
"You bet.''Drew smiled.
He wasn't going to take any chances with the people he loved, not anymore.
The following days were one filled with no problems as everything concerning the coronation went smoothly. It was three days to the big event and the whole pack were putting final touches to the event.
"You didn't tell my step brother confronted you.'' Laura said.
Drew looked up from the document he was reading, his reading glasses perched on his nose. Laura had always found it sexy especially when he was in this way, perched in concentration as he perused over an important file.
"How did you get to know about it?" Drew asked.
"I met him at the supermarket yesterday. He was actually bitter to me and almost attacked me but i put him in his place.'' Laura said, proudly.
She set down the tray she was washing as she stared at her mate. She could see his mind thinking about different things and she had no idea what they were.
"Did he tell you why I punched him?'' Drew asked.
He placed the document he was reading on a nearby table as he stared at her. He had an accusatory look in his eyes. He was trying desperately not to lose his patience but it was slowly getting to the surface.
"No, he didn't. That's why I'm asking Drew, what did he do? I know he's evil and says a lot of things to rile us up but this time around, what did he do?'' Laura sighed
"Well, he called you his and I punched him. Thinking about it now, I should actually have beaten the shit out of him.'' Drew said.
"That's horrible. I really don't know what to do anymore.'' Laura sighed.
"We will get through this. I know we will especially with you by my side.'' Drew said.
"In less than seventy two hours, you're going to be crowned leader of the entire pack. You ought not to react that way by punching considering the fact that we have a plan in motion. You shouldn't just react to anything that comes your way, you should try to show patience just like Alpha Nikolas did.'' Laura said.
Her temper was rising now and she knew it. She hated to argue with him especially when the most important day of their lives was coming. But for sometime now, Alpha Jed and his useless son had been stepping on their toes and it was getting annoying and frustrating.
"Are you really going to compare me with Alpha Nikolas?. Don't you dare try that Laura.'' Drew thundered.
He rose to his feet, giving her a death glare. Laura was a bit scared especially when she saw the look of hatred that flashed through his eyes.
"I'm not comparing you with your friend Drew. All I'm saying is you really don't have to be violent at any little provocation.''Laura said.
"Well excuse me for defending what's mine but I wouldn't sit back and watch another man claim what's mine. You're mine Laura and mine alone.''Drew said.
"You're really different from your friend.'' she muttered.
"Are we still on that Laura? For goddess's sake, yes we're completely different. You happy now?'' Drew said.
"Just be careful on how you deal with people, Drew. You even said the council of elders warned you about your temper. Please, you really need to be careful. I don't want you to get hurt.'' Laura said.
She walked towards him in hopes of calming him down. She knew she had to do that because knowing who he was, he would never calm down unless cajoled.
Laura wrapped her arms around him, bringing him closer to herself. She placed her lips on his, drawing his lower lip to her's.
"I hate arguing with you, it's exhausting.'' Drew sighed.
"Me too. Let's stop, it really hurts me when we argue.'' Laura said.
Drew returned to the couch, placing her on his lap. He drew her closer, taking in her intoxicating scent.
"Yeah, that reminds me. Why don't you shift regularly?'' he asked.
"I don't understand.'' Laura said.
She traced her hands through his neckline, running her fingers all over his abs that were noticeable under the shirt he wore.
"Your wolf, back at the club. It's really beautiful. I only just realized that you hardly shift.''Drew said.
Laura sighed, placing her hands in his chest. She knew a question like this would arise soon especially since she had shifted.
"Alpha Jed always put this fear in me about shifting.'' Laura said.
"What! That's horrible.'' Drew growled.
"I know it is. He usually says my wolf powers would be taken away from me if I shift too much. He literally put fear in me Drew.'' Laura croaked.
Drew could tell that she was moved to tears and all he wanted to do at that moment was beat the living daylight out of the idiot who called himself her step father. He couldn't imagine anyone saying those words to a child. Having a wolf gene was a thing of honor but Alpha Jed made her hated it and Drew vowed to make him pay for what he had done to her.
"No Laura, don't you ever believe him for one moment. You're blessed to have the wolf gene and don't you ever think for one day that it's a thing of shame because it isn't. Alpha Jed was just jealous because he didn't have half of what you possess and because you're a female Alpha which is very rare.''Drew said.
"You know, you're right. Any time he says those hurtful words, I see a flash of jealousy in his eyes before it's gone only to be replaced with disgust and hatred.'' Laura said.
"You see, he is just jealous of what you possess at such a young age. You're a star already my love so let no one tell you anything different.'' Drew said.
"Thank you Drew, for always standing up for me and encouraging me to do my best. It really means a lot and I'm so glad to have and call you my mate.'' Laura said.
"I think there are better ways you can thank me.'' Drew grinned.
"Hmmm, things like what?'' Laura sighed, biting her lips.
"Things like your lips on mine and your breast in my mouth.'' Drew said.
He ripped her shirt off, freeing her breasts from her bra. Laura growled as she watched him take one of her breasts into his mouth. She arched her back in the process, giving him all the access he needed.
"Drew, we should probably take this to the bedroom.'' Laura giggled.
"I don't care. In fact, it would be a thing of joy and honor for me if people watch us pounding into each other.'' Drew grinned.
"You're the fiend you know that.'' Laura laughed.
She grinded her heat into his erection as she felt her juices soak her pants all the way down to his huge member.
"Fuck, you're so wet.'' Drew smiled.
"Only for you.'' Laura grinned.
"Then we better take this to the bedroom. I'm really going to have a swell time pounding into you from behind.'' Drew grinned.
He carried her all the way to the bedroom as he shut the door behind him. He was with his mate, the woman he loved and cherished. She brought out the best in him and gently corrected his flaws, it was more than he could ask for.
