Chapter sixty three
"Baby, I'll be traveling today.''Drew said.
It's been three days since the coronation and three days since the attack and yet they were still not in talking terms. Drew didn't know what to do anymore and he wished he did because staying without talking to her was slowly killing him.
What he did to Laura was all shades of wrong and he knew that if reverse were the case, he would surely be angry, livid even. He hated not being in control of himself which left him frustrated.
"Where are you off to?"she asked.
"Paris, on some business. It'll be just for two days.'' Drew said.
"Okay, have a safe flight". Laura said.
"Are you still angry with me?" Drew sighed.
"To be honest, I'm not. I'm just indifferent about the whole thing, I really do not hate you anymore Drew.'' Laura said.
"Thank you, at least that's a start.'' Drew smiled.
He made to kiss her but she gave him her cheeks, preferring to be kissed there than her lips. Laura knew what would happen if she allowed him to kiss her lips, her emotions would be all over the place and she didn't really know if she wanted that.
"I'll see you soon. Please stay safe baby.'' Drew smiled.
"I will and you too.'' Laura said.
Drew nodded before leaving the house. He made his way towards the garage where his cars were parked. Just before he left, he gave strict orders to his security men to guard the house more tightly and the only visitors to be allowed in should be his driver, Carlos who he trusted aside from his friends.
"Yes boss, we'll do as you say.'' the man said.
Drew drove away with a screech. He was to meet up with his friends at the club before they left for the airport where his jet was waiting to take them.
He got to the club soon. He left the engine running as he placed a call to them to inform them that he was outside.
"Hey man.'' Killian said.
"Hi."
"Is Laura still upset?" Jack asked.
The duo climbed into the car, putting on their seatbelts. Government hunters were all over the place and it wouldn't do them good if they got arrested for something as simple as that.
"Not quite but she's still not speaking to me.'' Drew said.
"She'll come around, I'm sure of it. She just needs a bit of time for herself to think this through.'' Killian said.
"How you know so much about relationships never seize to amaze me.'' Jack said.
Drew chuckled because he knew he was right. Killian was so versed in knowing about so many relationships that his knowledge about them was vast.
"Its high time you get a girl.'' Drew chuckled.
"Can't say I haven't.'' Killian murmured.
Drew stared at him through the rear view mirror, trying to decide if he was actually joking or not. But from the expression on his face, Killian was serious.
"You've found your mate?" Jack asked.
"Well, not really. I don't know if she's my mate yet as we're only still in the talking stage. But I can't lie man, I feel something for her.'' Killian said.
"That's progress. At least, it's far better than when you were still single.'' Drew chuckled.
They got to the airport as soon as Drew put the car to a stop at the airport's garage, handing the keys to a security agent who was used to him by now.
"I told Laura I'll be away for just two days. I don't want to stay more than that.'' Drew sighed.
"Sure, we're not going to be staying so long. And secondly, I don't want you to disappoint her again.'' Jack said.
They walked into the plane and once they were in, Drew knew they had a problem. He could feel the tension that surrounded the cabin in the plane. His wolf took over but he was still in his human form. His senses were heightened now that his wolf was in charge but try as they could, they couldn't discover what the problem was.
"Something is definitely wrong.'' Jack said.
"Yes. Where's the pilot?" Killian asked.
Just then, the pilot walked into the resting area where Drew and his friends sat. He wore an ear splitting grin that didn't seem to sit well with Drew at all. Drew knew his pilot so well and the man never behaved this way.
Anything is the problem?" Drew asked.
"No sir, nothing like that. Welcome on board.'' he smiled.
Drew nodded, giving him the go ahead to fly the plane. He left soon as Drew and his friends settled down.
"We have to keep an eye on him. I still don't trust him.'' Jack said.
"Same here. Erh... Anyone know how to fly a plane in case something goes wrong?" Killian asked.
"I do know how to fly a plane but it's just the basics.'' Jack said.
"That's better than no knowledge at all. I have a feeling we'll be needing your skills soon Jack.'' Drew said.
"Then we have to get ready, we might have a bumpy ride.'' he said.
Just then, a sharp beep was heard from Drew's pager. He swiped the screen open to check the message and what he saw left him in shock.
"I've got news.'' Jack said.
"Bad or good?" Killian asked.
He was also on his phone, replying to a series of texts that never seemed to reduce. Due to the nature of their job, they usually received threats from different sources all claiming to destroy them.
"All bad,''Jack said.
"Let's hear it.'' Drew said.
He wasn't surprised any more when all the news he received were full of bad messages and threats. Drew had become immune to it and there was nothing that could change that.
"I've gotten information on the whereabouts of Alpha Jed and his son. They are in Netherlands.'' Jack said.
"Netherlands? That's freaking far.''Killian said.
"I know and that's not all.'' Jack said.
"Oh boy.'' Drew groaned.
"Alpha Jed just released some drugs into the country and it's spreading fast to other countries. I fear there will be an outbreak soon,''Jack said.
"Then we have to stop them.'' Drew vowed.
******************************
As the plane soared through the air towards the land of Paris, so did Drew's anxiety. There were so many things running through his mind and the only way they could leave for good was if he knew the solution to the problem. Ever since Jack made the announcement, he's been silent as his mind weaved through different emotions all pertaining to what Jack said.
Now that Alpha Jed had successfully sent those drugs which were no doubt laced with poison into the society, there was no telling what damages it could have on people and the monstrous effect it would no doubt have.
"I need to use the bathroom, I'll be back soon.'' Drew said.
He rose up from his seat, making his way towards the bathroom. Drew's mind was filled with all the things he would do when he finally had his hands on Alpha Jed and his son. Just then, something painful slammed into his face as he staggered back trying to get his bearings.
Drew looked up and he discovered there was an intruder in his plane. At that moment, all Drew could see was red. His anger was evident as he gave into his wolf's demands to take over. He lunged at the attacker, pushing him to the ground. Drew was satisfied when he heard a sick crack from the attackers head.
"Who sent you?" he growled.
Drew's large paw pressed into the attacker's neck, effortlessly cutting off his air supply. He tried to kill him but he had a better idea. Drew eased his paw away from his neck, shifting back into his human form.
"Who sent you?" Drew asked..
If he wasn't ready to talk, Drew knew the way by which he could make him talk. He vowed to get the answers from him before he discarded him away.
"I will never tell you.''the attacker spat.
The phlegm landed on his arm and he could see traces of blood from where he had hit him earlier.
"You will in a moment.'' Drew smiled.
He dragged the attacker towards where his friends sat. He had all the time in the world to deal with him and Drew vowed to do just that.
"What the hell?" Killian growled.
"Looks like we have company.'' Jack chuckled.
They all knew that this was about to get bumpy. They had clearly been attacked and the only thing they could do now was to find out where this attack was coming from.
