Chapter sixty seven
"Oh my gosh, I didn't know you'll be home so soon.'' Laura laughed.
Drew could tell that she was surprised when he walked in. He met her in the kitchen, just bringing out freshly baked cookies from the oven.
"I wanted to surprise you. Well now, it's more of an emergency.'' Drew said.
A light frown marred her face as she thought about his words. Laura didn't know what the emergency could be and she only hoped it wasn't something so serious.
"What's the problem?" she asked.
Drew sighed, pulling her closer to him. He couldn't explain it but anytime he was with her, he felt safe. She had this aura around her that made him want to spill all the secrets he was hiding.
"Heck, I've got a lot to say,'' Drew said.
"Then it's a good thing I just baked cookies, come let's sit.'' Laura smiled.
Drew gave her hands a gentle squeeze, silently thanking her for sticking with him even when she didn't have cause to.
"So, what happened?" she asked.
"First off, my pilot is a member of Jed's gang. He attacked us on the plane but for Jack's and Killian's quick intervention, we would have been dead meat,'' he said.
"Oh my gosh! That's horrible, how on earth has he been able to stay hidden all these while.'' Laura said.
"To be honest, I don't know,'' Drew said.
"Or could he have used a deceptive spell,'' she muttered.
"Deceptive spell?... What does that mean?'' Drew said.
"A deceptive spell is one used to hide the identity or figure of that person. It is usually used when one is hiding something most of the sinister time.'' Laura explained.
"But I still don't understand. I thought it's people with magic who can use something like that.'' Drew said.
"That's usually the case but nowadays, people learn dark magic just to be able to use the deceptive spell. He deceived you all for a long time but I'm glad that his secret is already in the open.'' Laura said.
"I'm going to kill him once I get all the information I need from him,'' Drew vowed.
"If I were you, I wouldn't do that though,'' Laura said
"Baby I know you have a compassionate heart but I'll advise you not to do that. Killing someone who's already laced with a deceptive spell might bring trouble for you,'' she said.
"How?" Drew asked.
He was getting confused with every minute that passed. Laura was the one with magic and he wasn't surprised that she knew a lot about all the concepts.
"The effects and cause of this aren't known, for now, some professors of magic are working on it but I believe that soon, we'll get an answer,'' Laura said.
"I hope they get it bloody soon because I have a feeling that a lot of people are using this to deceive unsuspecting people. So, what should be the fate of the pilot whom I put so much trust in".
"Darling.'' Laura sighed.
She moved closer to him, gripping his hands. She could see the conflicting thoughts in his eyes and she wished she could do something to stop them but she couldn't.
"I'll only advise you to follow what your heart says. Follow it and see where it leads you,'' she said.
"And what if it tells me to kill him?" Drew asked.
"If that's the case, then you'll know with everything you have in your mind that's the right thing to do.'' she smiled.
Drew placed his lips on her gently, pouring all his love and affection into that kiss. With her, he could be himself rather than the fearless dangerous Alpha everyone knew him to be.
"I don't know why I did what I did to you earlier but I'm sorry baby, it will never happen again.'' he smiled.
"I've told you I've forgiven you. It's past now baby, let's forget about it.'' Laura smiled.
"Does that mean I can get to have my way with you?'' Drew grinned.
"Oh not so fast. You said you have something else to tell me.'' she laughed.
Drew sat up, drawing her closer to him. He needed her close for what he was about to tell her as he didn't know how she was going to react to the news.
"It's about your stepfather and his son,'' he said.
"Are they dead?" Laura asked.
There was a lightness to her eyes that Drew grinned at. Laura could be funny at times and this was one of those moments.
"Oh no but I wish they were considering what they have just done,'' he said.
"What did they do?" she whispered.
Now, there was fear in her eyes, and Drew hated to see it there. She was usually not good with fear and when she becomes like this, it usually wasn't good.
"It's okay baby, it's nothing I couldn't handle,'' Drew said.
"Tell me, Drew, what have they done this time?" Laura seethed.
''Alpha Jed produced a lot of drugs which I suspect might have been laced with poison. As of this morning, the drugs got to the city.'' Drew said.
"Oh my gosh! That's horrible, we have to do something Drew".
"I've already taken care of it.'' he smiled.
"Really? How?'' Laura asked, confusion marred in her face.
Drew proceeded to tell her everything he had done to stop the drugs from getting into the city. He could see her surprise when he told her that he was able to get the workers out of there before he set it on fire.
"That's very smart of you.'' Laura grinned.
"Thank you my lady. Now, how about we get down to our earlier discussion".
"You are insatiable, you know that.'' Laura laughed.
She straddled his waist, wrapping her arms around his neck. Drew gripped her tightly, bringing his lips down to hers. He kissed her fiercely, loving the way her body molded perfectly to his as she kissed him back with the same energy.
"Let's take this to our bedroom.'' Drew smiled.
"Yes, we shall.'' Laura laughed.
Drew rose to his feet, carrying her towards the bedroom. Laura giggled as she felt his hands roam through her body. She would never get tired of his insatiable touch and the only way she knew she could be away from him was as if he died.
Laura prayed for him to live long because now, her heart was in his.

"You didn't tell me about your encounter with Benita,'' Drew said.
They were still in bed, having just had the best time of their lives. Drew stroked Laura's hair gently, loving the way her body curled towards him. She was warm and her scent aroused him, Drew knew there was nothing he wouldn't do for her.
"I thought you didn't want to be bothered by that.'' she smiled.
"When it comes to you my love, I want to be bothered,'' he said, pecking her cheek.
"Okay... So, I was surprised when I saw her here because I wasn't expecting her. She said things about me stealing you away from her and that she was supposed to be your mate.'' Laura said.
"Where on Earth did she get her claims from?" Drew seethed.
He couldn't believe that she would stoop so low as to say things like this when Drew had nothing to do with her.
"Baby, you've got to believe me. I have nothing to do with her.'' Drew said.
"I know and I believe you. It's just that sometimes, what she says sounds true and in those moments, I don't know what to think.'' Laura sighed.
Drew could see the conflicting emotions running through her eyes. He couldn't blame her though because anyone would feel the way she was feeling now.
"You've got to trust me, darling, I have nothing to do with her. All she's trying to do is make you jealous and possibly ruin our relationship.'' Drew said
"I know. Don't worry baby, I won't let her get to me, to us. We're stronger than whatever she's trying to plan.'' Laura smiled.
"You know that's why I love you.'' Drew smiled.
"I know and that's why you're obsessed with me".
"That's true too. Baby, would you come with me. There's this meeting I'm supposed to attend later this afternoon.'' Drew said.
Laura rises from her laying position, resting her knees on the bed. She thought better of it and she crawled towards her mate, straddling him.
"Sure, you don't have to ask. It would be an honor.'' she smiled.
"You're a sweetheart and I'll never stop saying how much I love you.'' Drew smiled.
Later on, they made their way towards the company where they would be having the meeting. Killian and Jack were to accompany them too and soon, Drew picked them up from the private club before proceeding to the company.
"Laura's coming along too?" Killian asked.
"Yep,'' Drew said.
"Oh boy, the man isn't going to get his eyes off her.''Jack chuckled.
Laura looked at Drew with a confused expression on her face. He gripped the wheels tightly, staring straight ahead and she knew that there was something he wasn't telling her and she was determined to find out what it was at all cost.
