Chapter sixty nine
"I hope everyone is okay?" Laura asked.
"I'm good.'' Killian said.
"Me too.'' Jack said.
Drew remained silent as he stared at his mate, a light smile on his lips. He couldn't believe how brave she was as she fought beside him, fearless and brave.
"Drew, are you alright?" Laura smiled.
"You know I'm fine as long as you are, and seeing you alive now proves to you that I'm alive. So yeah, I'm okay.'' he grinned.
Laura rolled her eyes, going over to give him a kiss. She wrapped her hands around him as she vaguely saw Jack and Killian take their leave. This was all she wanted, this safety and love she felt just by having her hands around him.
"Thank you for standing by me.'' Drew said.
"I've told you not to thank me. It's my duty as your mate and the woman you love so, there's no need to thank me.'' Laura smiled.
Drew pulled get towards a double seater couch, setting her on his laps. He stroked her hair, loving that way it was soft to his touch. Laura sighed, resting her head on his chest. This was her safe place and there was no where else she wanted to be.
"I'll get to the root of all our troubles.'' Drew vowed.
"Darling, you really can't solve them all. You're the Alpha and troubles are bound to rise especially since you've got new enemies.''Laura said.
"And the first on our list is Jed. I can't wait to end him once and for all. He's giving me a headache and I really do not like it.'' Drew said.
"Patience my dear. You've waited all these while, there's nothing you can do but to wait.'' Laura said.
"That's true. Which reminds me, where on Earth did you learn to drive like that?" Drew asked.
A red tinge of colors clouded her face as she tried to look everywhere else asides him. Drew could tell that she was shy about something but he couldn't figure out what that was.
"Just spit it out Laura, I won't judge you.'' Drew chuckled.
"Okay, well this might sound odd but my ex-boyfriend taught me everything I needed to know about driving.'' she said.
She blushed fiercely, trying to hide her face away from him. She didn't know how he would react but what she wasn't expecting was the deep chuckle that filled her ears.
"Wait? You're not jealous?" she asked.
She couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the wide grin that filled his face. His grin grew when he saw the look on her face.
"No, I'm not because I know he doesn't mean anything to you and secondly, I've done far worse things than that. Come to think of it, that's not a bad thing. In fact, I appreciate him for teaching you that useful skill.'' Drew smiled.
"Whew, for a second I thought you were ready to find this guy and pound into his face. But it just shows you're getting used to this.'' Laura laughed.
"Careful there... That doesn't mean I wouldn't beat the shit out of any man who looks at you wrong.'' Drew said.
Laura felt warm inside her as she reveled at the protective feeling that enveloped her just by those words.
"I know and that's why I try so hard not to be in the midst of men for fear of you bashing their faces.'' she chuckled.
Just then, Drew's phone beeped, indicating he had a message. Swiping the screen, he discovered that it was a message from Jack who informed him that there was something important for them to discuss about.
"Jack needs my attention.'' Drew said.
"Okay, you go. I'll be fine here.'' Laura said.
"You sure?" Drew asked.
He didn't want to leave her here but he knew he was being paranoid because his club was as safe as the White House.
"Okay, I'll be with the guys incase you need anything.'' Drew said.
Drew rose to his feet, heading towards where Jack and Killian were. He walked into the room to see their faces filled with an expression Drew didn't quite understand.
"What's wrong?" Drew asked.
"We just got the information that Alpha Jed and his son are in the city.'' Killian said.
"Shit! This is not good, Laura mustn't know about this.'' Drew said.
He paced about, searching for a solution to what he could do to avoid her seeing them. No doubt, she would be furious if she got to learn that the people whom she had callers her parents were at a close distance to her.
" I have a feeling she'll go after them once she finds out they are here.'' Jack said.
"Damn well she will.'' Drew said.
"We'll think about that later but first, we have to find out why they're really here.'' Killian said.
"It's obvious, they're regrouping. Jed and all his agents are planning something and I have a feeling that it's going to be huge.'' Drew said.
"Then we have to be prepared, we can't go into a battle with them like this, we're short on guns and the minute they strike, we're dead meat.'' Jack said.
"Of course, I know that. Remember I requested for guns last week? They would be arriving this weekend.'' Drew said.
"Sweet.'' Killian chuckled.
"But Drew, I noticed one thing. Why don't you want to make use of your Alpha Nikolas's guns when it's clearly yours now.'' Jack said.
"I think it's something sacred that should be kept for a while. I'm not saying I wouldn't use it but just not now.'' Drew said.
"Okay. So what do we do about Alpha Jed and his son?" Killian asked.
"Let's watch them for now, any slight change on their schedule, we take them down.'' Drew said.
"Okay, I'll station plain clothed security men to stay around their house and watch their every movement.'' Jack said.
"That's much better. Thank you.'' Drew said.
"I have a feeling that we won't need to wait for long. Alpha Jed and his son would be in our net soon and as soon as they're in, we deal with them.'' Killian said.
"Yes. Any news on Jed, I hate it when he's always silent.'' Drew said.
"No, nothing yet. I'll inform you the minute I get something on him.'' Jack said.
"Thank you.'' Drew said.
He sat down on the couch, thinking about the next line of action to take against the rival pack. There was no doubt about it now, he needed to deal with them with an iron fist and he knew just where to begin. If all goes well, they wouldn't disturb him and Laura ever again.
Drew knew that there were different things he could employ to use to defeat the rival pack but he also had to put it into consideration that whatever he did might affect Laura and that was something he couldn't afford happening. She was his everything and he would rather die than see her get hurt. She had suffered a lot in the hands of her step father and his son and the last thing Drew wanted her to feel was unsafe. He knew that not many women would boldly stay with him just as she was doing now.
He was a baggage of trouble and violence but as the barave woman she was, she stayed with him. When all this was over, he would ensure that he took her for a long vacation, somewhere in one of the many island he owned. She deserved it, in fact, all of them deserved it for sticking with him this long.
Jack and Killian had also helped him more times than he could count, and even at times when he was being too harsh on them, they stayed with him. If that wasn't loyalty, Drew didn't know what that was.
He was beyond grateful for everything and everyone that had stood by him for a long time and that was something that he wouldn't take for granted.
''What's got you all thinking hmm?'' Laura giggled.
She had sneaked up on him, tickling his sides. The way she laughed cemented Drew's resolve to keep her safe at all times. She was his life, the lifeline with which he stood on and anything that happened to her also affected him.
''Just things my love.'' he grinned.
''Well you should stop thinking when you know i'm here. Share your problems with me Drew, that's why i'm your Delta and the love of your absolute life.'' Laura laughed.
Drew laughed, pulling her closer to himself. He just wanted to devour her but he knew he couldn't do that yet until they got home. Not that he cared about what people would think, he just needed to clear his mind.
''I will Laura, thank you.'' Drew said, nozzling into her neck.
They stayed in comfortable silence for several minutes, each with their own thoughts. That right there was bliss for Drew.
