Chapter 28
POV Thea
Jason pulled around the corner of my street, stopping in front of my house to let me out. Candice came out in her hot pink scrubs, taking one look at the car. “Again.” She said with a heavy sigh.
“Ya, I told him I would help him sand it down this weekend.” I told her.
She wrapped her arms around me smashing me up against her. “This isn’t your fault sweetie.” She tried to reassure me.
I waved as Jason and Amira took off. “It’s not, not my fault. If they didn’t hang out with me this wouldn’t happen.”
Giving me a quick kiss on the cheek she turned to get in her car. “Who wouldn’t want to hang out with you? Maybe next time you can take my car. I’ve always wanted a hit pink Jeep.” She called back to me before climbing in her rig and leaving.
“What do you want to do?” I asked Selova.
“Pizza and a movie with Amira and Jason.” She suggested.
“We just saw them like five seconds ago.”
“A run maybe?” She asked with hope in her voice.
“How can you have all this energy. We had school followed by a round of kick the wolf with Zandra?” I groaned sarcastically. “Be nice to get out though.” I thought.
“Alright but we stick to the West side of the territory, I’m not picking stickers out of my feet all night like last time.” I told her.
“Yes!” Sel said jumping up and down.
Walking in the house Brent had already found his comfortable spot in the couch to watch all his old westerns that bore Candice and I to death.
“Don’t worry Sel and I are going for a run so watch away.” I told him.
Putting my bag in my room I reached out for Jason and Amira. “We are going for a run you want to come?” I asked them.
Jason let out a dramatically long groan before responding. “I would rather wipe my ass with a cactus today.”
“Interesting visual, so that’s a yes right.” I joked.
“Let me change and I’ll be right over.” Amira said.
“See at least one of my friends is cool.” I joked with Jason before cutting the connection.
Amira came walking into the house less than five minutes later. She came in through the back sliding glass door right by my bedroom door.
“Where we of to?” She asked.
“Jason said there’s a really cool pond in the west side that the creek drains into. He found it a couple weeks ago when he went on patrols. Be nice if he was here to show us the way but I guess he’s doing naughty stuff with house plants.”
Amira laughed. “Hey now who are we to judge. Don’t knock it till you try it right.”
I crinkled my face at her. “I feel like I know more about that currently than I need to so I’m going to say no.”
After telling Brent we were leaving we headed out on the back patio, stripped and shifted.
“Can you stop?” Amira asked.
“Stop what?” My asked.
“Not you Selova, and fucking growing. You’re a horse.” She joked.
“Don’t be jealous just because you’re so small.”
“I could pass as your pup.” She laughed.
Nikini or Niki as we called her was not really that small. A decent sized omega wolf. Her cooper fur had black tips which contrasted her pale green eyes perfectly.
We started towards the tree line when movement caught Niki’s attention. “Psst, this way.” She whispered.
Sneaking between trees we could just make out Omega Gavin’s pale naked body in the distance. He was cramming something inside a tree.
“Ah my eyes.”
“Be serious.” Amira told me.
“I am being serious. I’m blind now.” I laughed.
He took off running and we moved up to the tree to see what he was doing. Shifting I pulled the bag out. “It’s just his clothes and some contacts? That’s weird.” I said.
“He’s over a hundred, maybe at some point our eyes go back.” Amira responded.
“I guess so.”
“Back on task!” Selova pushed for control again. I dropped the bag, and we were off.
Running full speed, Selova and Niki leap frogging each other or pulling one another’s talk to get in the lead. We found the pond with a few hours until it got dark.
A little waterfall poured the creek into a twenty-foot pond. Amira and I both shifted back. We swam for hours until the sun started setting.
Disappointed to have to head back I got out of the water to dry off some. Selova had other plans, she quickly shifted and start shaking out her fur. Water flinging all over Amira who had gotten out earlier and was almost dry.
Amira ran away giggling, when she got to the waterfall, she grabbed handfuls of water and flung it at us. After the second handful she stopped.
“What’s that?” Amira asked. “Are you bleeding? Did you get cut somewhere?”
Looking down at our legs diluted red spots in Sel’s white fur. “No, it’s not mine.” She said.
Amira’s hands dripping the same watered-down red.
Selova sniffed her hands. “It’s definitely blood but where is it coming from.” She jumped over the waterfall and started following the trail down the bank.
“Wait for me.” Amira said jumping up and shifting so Niki could catch up.
It didn’t take long to find the source. A couple hundred feet down the bank Omega Gavin’s body
Lay face down halfway in the stream. Blood running from his body down the creek.
“We need to call the Alpha.” Amira says to me.
“No, I figured we would just detective this shit ourselves.” I replied sarcastically.
Feeling for the Alpha he opened the connection immediately. “Hi Thea, what’s going on?”
“Amira and I were swimming in the pond by the West edge of the territory and we just found Omega Gavin.” I told him.
“Was he watching you girls or something?” He asked.
“No, he’s dead.” I said.
“You sure?” Alpha Aiden asked.
“Pretty sure. I’m not going to go over and poke him with a stick or anything but I’m fairly certain.” I told him.
“Hmmm that’s weird.” He mumbled something I didn’t catch. “You girls stay close by I’m sending Thomas and a few others to find you.”
