Chapter 10
Amelia was giggling as she walked with her mates out of the woods. She was over the moon now that she could shift to her beast. She could feel Lily was delighted too that she kept howling and running in her mind. She was beautiful in her eyes.
“You were great, love,” Blue said. He was holding Amelia’s right hand.
“True. You surprised us. And it was our first time seeing a red Lycan.” Grey was on her left side.
Amelia blushed. The twins had been praising her because of her fast shifting. Usually, the first shifting of a Lycan takes up to three hours. But Amelia almost didn’t feel her shifting. Like it was not her first time.
“Is my fur not right?”
“No. There’s nothing wrong with your fur. You were gorgeous earlier. We could see how excited our beast was seeing yours.” Blue stared at Amelia’s hair. “We love your new hair color.”
When Amelia shifted back to her human form, the color of her hair became dark red like blood. The same color as her fur.
“And please stop doubting yourself now, mate. You are strong. You are special.” –Grey.
Amelia sighed. “I’m sorry. I’ll get used to it.” She thought that it was true. Also, after her shift, she felt that she became stronger than before. She usually felt weaker than anyone before. But now, she was still worried but more confident already.
“You better be.”
Amelia stopped when she noticed that they were entering the pack house. The twins stared at her in confusion. “I… never entered this place,” she said.
Since Amelia was treated as an outcast, she never got a chance to enter the pack house. This house was the largest building in their pack village. Because the family of Alpha and Beta lived here. There was a gathering hall too in the basement for the pack meetings. She couldn’t imagine how big this house was.
Grey pinched her palm. “It’s okay. You should be where we are. And besides, we need to ask your alpha about your identity. How a Lycan like you was in this wolf pack.”
“Yeah. My brother said that Alpha Chase must know about it.” Amelia looked at the house again. “But I think they wouldn't like me inside.”
“It's okay.”
Amelia let the twins take her. As they entered the pack house, she could feel the glarings of her packmates. Some were surprised to see her new looks. She glows more because of her red hair. Amelia was looking down only, but Grey asked her to be proud. She tried too. On the stairs, she saw Vera and Nicolai. They stopped and moved to the side. She could see the jealousy in Vera’s eyes. But when she looked at Nicolai, she frowned as she saw the amusement of it. Why would he? Does he still feel the bond? Because of her? No matter how long she stared at him, she couldn’t feel the bond anymore. The reason why she almost killed herself was gone.
“Princes,” Nicolai called. “Alpha Chase is already waiting in his office. We will guide you there.”
“Okay.”
Nicolai turned his back and walked in front of them. The three of them followed them to the Alpha’s office. It was on the top floor of the house. Amelia hid her amusement. It's just like how Bea describes it to her. The top floor had a lot of rooms since they prepared it for their important guests like the twins. They walked to the hallway and stopped when they reached the last room. Nicolai knocked and opened the door.
“Father, the princes are here,” Nicolai announced.
“Come in,” said the authoritative voice from inside.
It was Alpha Chase Nicolai’s father. Amelia always saw him, especially when her mother was still alive. Alpha Chase was already old. His gray hair was already showing and the wrinkles beside his eyes were visible already. But despite this, everyone could still see how masculine and graceful he was. Though Alpha Chase wasn’t like her packmates, that was hard for her. He was always kind and fair to her.
“Prince Grey. Prince Blue. Welcome!” Alpha Chase went in front of the two princes and shook hands with them. Then his gaze went to Amelia. “Amelia? She was the one you were talking about earlier?”
“Yes, Alpha. She is Amelia. Our mate.”
Amelia forced a smile and bowed to Alpha Chase.
“Is it really you?” Alpha Chase sniffed at Amelia. “You have already shifted. Was your hair always red?”
Amelia shook her head. “No, Alpha. My beast's fur was colored red. I think that was the reason why my hair became red.”
“What?!” Alpha Chase said.
Amelia looked at her mates and then at Alpha Chase. “Was it wrong?”
“Why?” Grey and Blue asked.
Alpha Chase averted his gaze. The shock and worriedness can be seen in his expression. But it was just for a second. He sighed and put his hand on Amelia’s shoulder. He guided her to the chair next to his table. The twins followed and sat down in front of Amelia.
“You can go out now, Nicolai. Please close the door.”
“Yes, Alpha.” Nicolai bowed and went out with Vera.
Alpha Chase sat down on his chair and pulled out something from his table. It was a white envelope that was almost turning yellow because of oldness.
“I know that you probably know that you are adopted now,” Alpha Chase started. “You were sent to us when you were still a pup. One of the patrollers heard your cries near the territory and brought you to me. This came with you.”
Amelia took the white envelope. “What is this?”
“A note. One for us. And the other one is for you. Don’t worry. We never read the letter to you and your mother asked me to hide it. Then give it to you when you are old enough.”
Amelia gulped and stared at the envelope. She felt like whatever was inside would confirm her true identity.
