Chapter 12

Lily growled as she waited for the steps nearing her. Her claws went out and were ready to attack. But Lily stopped as she smelled the familiar scent.

‘Nicolai?’

Lily waited for Nicolai to show him. And she was right. There she saw the big black wolf growling at her. But he immediately turned back to his human form.

‘What should I do?’ Lily asked.

‘It's okay.’

Amelia went back to her human form. But realizing she was naked. Her eyes widened and screamed at Nicolai.

“Turn around!” she asked. But she realized too that there was no way that Nicolai would follow her. So she immediately looked for something to cover herself. She saw a big leaf just exactly for her to cover her private parts. Amelia looked at Nicolai again and she was surprised that he turned away from her.

‘Weird,’ Amelia thought.

“Y-You can find something to cover yourself too… if you want,” she said.

Nicolai turned himself back to Amelia. He did not mind his nakedness and stared at her face only. Amelia then tried her best not to look down.

“Ahm. I-I was just looking around,” Amelia said. She doesn't know what to do or say. Not because she was still affected by Nicolai. But because it was Nicolai! Her first mate. The one who rejected her. “I-I should go-”

“No.”

“Huh?”

Nicolai cleared his throat and stepped forward to Amelia. “I kind of followed you here. I mean, my… wolf could still feel you.”

Amelia remained silent. She just stared at Nicolai, who was one step away from her already. He looked different now. In particular, the way he stared at her was different. It was more of adoration and desire. That was confusing for Amelia because if there was one person in their pack that hated her most, it was him.

“I was stupid, Amelia. I shouldn't have rejected you.”

“I don't understand you, Nicolai. What do you mean?”

“I know you have already found your second chance, mate. Mates to be exact.”

Nicolai sighed and looked away. He doesn't know how to say it but he must. He couldn't forget her since that night when he realized he still felt the bond. At first, he thought it was because his wolf pitied her. But he was wrong. He liked Amelia after all. He covered his feelings by letting his friends bully her. He wanted to forget that he wanted Amelia because he couldn't have a Luna like her. A wolf less Luna. Now that everyone knew what she really was. He must take his chances.

“But can't you still feel it, Amelia? Have you forgotten me already?”

Amelia blinked her eyes fast. She didn't know how to process what Nicolai had just told her. Didn't he reject her? Didn't he want her to go away from their pack?

“A-Are you playing with me? Was this part of your prank on me?” Amelia sniffed and looked around. “Where are your friends?”

“No. Amelia. They are not here. I'm alone. I was strolling in the woods. I shifted because the moon was already out. The. He smelled your scent. We can still feel you, Amelia.”

Amelia laughed. At first, it was silent as she was trying to control herself. But she couldn't contain it seeing that Nicolai looked like he was ready to beg for something.

“You know what? I'm done, Nicolai. You wouldn't dare to bully me again. I wouldn't hesitate to fight you,” she warned. Her claws came out.

Nicolai sighed again. “I must've hurt you that much. I'm sorry, Amelia. Please. I know you can still feel me. You still feel the bond-”

“No!” Amelia raised her voice. She glared at Nicolai and pointed her finger at him. “Do you know how much it affected me, huh? Nicolai, being your mate was my last hope to be accepted into this pack! Being your mate gave me hope to accept myself! But you snatched it away from me because you think I am not capable of being your Luna! Then you are coming at me saying that you still feel the bond? Are you crazy?”

“Yes, Amelia! I am! It's haunting me! I know you have found your new mates. But you can still feel me, right? I'm still there, right?” Nicolai held Amelia's hands and tried pulling her. But Amelia pushed her away.

“You are wrong, Nicolai! You're not here anymore. My mates marked me already. They are the only ones in me now!” she screamed at him. But to her surprise, Nicolai suddenly kneeled in front of her.

“P-Please, Amelia! Take me again. I am your first mate, after all! Be my Luna!”

Amelia scoffed and shook her head. “You are unbelievable, Nicolai. I can’t believe that you are this selfish!”

Amelia turned away and was ready to run. But Nicolai suddenly held her hand and pulled her to him. Amelia was stunned and her eyes widened. She instantly felt the spark when she felt his skin to hers. She growled angrily and pushed him. Her claws went out and her fangs too.

“Don’t touch me! Don’t you dare do it again!” she warned.

“Amelia, please! I know that you felt it too!”

“Huh?! No!” she lied. But her heart skipped when she smelled him again. She didn’t know why it was possible because she already had her mates. Plus, he had rejected her already. “It’s too late, Nicolai! Too late, okay?! I, Amelia White–”

“N-No, Amelia, please!”

“I, Amelia White, reject you, Nicolai Green, as my mate and to whatever bond you with me! Whether you accept it or not!” Amelia shouted. She shifted to her beast form and growled, then howled at him. Then she growled again angrily and ran away from Nicolai.

Nicolai felt his heart torn into pieces. He froze as he watched Amelia’s beast fade from his eyes. For the first time in his life, he cried in pain. He knew that it would be impossible for Amelia to accept him. After what he did to her, he could feel how much she hated him. He shifted and howled in pain. He was a fool in rejecting Amelia. Now he will take the burden until the day he dies. If he could just bring back time, he would not reject Amelia.
