Chapter 41 – Grace
A scrawny tawny wolf tackles Caden, his jaws snapping at the man I love but Caden manages to doge it, even manages to hold back this scrawny wolf’s face from taking a bite from him. Furious, I find myself moving, my steps turning into a run and before I know it, I have shifted into my silver wolf and tackling the intruder away from my Caden. The wolf rolls harshly onto the ground as I stand protectively between him and Caden, my fury boiling at the coward that tackled the newly named Alpha King from behind. Something tells me this is that cousin Caden mentioned a few days ago.
The tawny wolf regains his footing, shakes out the dirt and dust from his fur before turning to growl at me. He is frustrated I interfered but so what, he is the one that attacked Caden without a challenge. I watch his every move, waiting to see when he will attack and I don’t have to wait too long. With clear intentions of where he is going to strike, I dodge to my right as he lunges for my throat, using my momentum and whirling around to land a blow to his flank with my claw. Felix stumbles, leaving an opening for me to lunge this time, my teeth sinking into his throat just enough to wound this coward. By law, as the wolf to defend the wolf who was blind sided by an attacker, I have every right to kill Felix as his cowardice actions has brought shame to his pack. But I want to give Caden a chance to decide his cousin’s fate. Felix snarls, flailing around trying to dislodge me acting like an impudent pup, the embarrassment of being over powered by a she wolf being too much for him to bear. Rolling my eyes I sweep out both his front paws from under him and follow as the front of his body falls to the ground, keeping my grip on his throat. I have easily pinned this wolf, his paws being swatted away with my own as he tries a futile attempt to claw at me. Sooner or later he will come to submit or be killed.
"Felix, it's over. Grace has won." Caden's voice was loud and clear as Felix lets out a defeated sigh. He submits under me, doing his best to thrust his neck out in defeat. I wait, trying to see if there will be any trickery on his end before backing away. Feeling a gentle hand on my head and a soft touch combing through my hair, I smile and lean into Caden happy to know he is safe.
"Shift Felix." Caden orders, the power of the Alpha King already infused into his words. It was a command no wolf could refuse and I was glad it was directed at Felix. I watch as he tries to resist the command, sitting back and watch with amusement. Felix fights hard against the command, his bones snapping in and out of place until finally a greasy looking man with a scowl on his face sits before me.
"Go to hell Caden. Your dad had already named me heir!" He spits out, causing a growl from me to come forth for disrespecting not only the new King but also the man I want to be with. I relish in satisfaction as fear flickers in Felix’s eyes and stop my growling when he stays silent. Good, be very afraid of me.
"And I challenged him fairly and won. I did the honorable thing unlike you who attacked me like the coward you are." I can feel the anger radiate off of Caden, feel his blood boil with the new power and carefully nuzzle his hand, trying to help him keep calm in front of so many wolves.
“I should have been the Alpha King, not you! You’re a pathetic man that can’t even claim a mate!” Felix snaps back, making me glare and snarl at the weasel like man once more for disrespecting Caden again.
"Tell that whore to calm down. A women should know her place." Felix snaps as he points a finger at me, one I gladly bite off and enjoy the sound of flesh ripping away and bones snapping filing the air along with his screams of pain. Just as quickly as I bit it off, I throw the finger down in front of me and shred it, a smirk on my wolfish face as I enjoy watching Felix look at me with terror.
"Grace knows her place as a powerful Beta and a great warrior as well as the woman I intend to date.” Caden calmly states, chuckling at my display of power before he scratches behind my left eat.
“You, on the other hand cousin, are a weak omega. A coward. And you know the punishment for attacking a wolf with out a direct challenge.” He continues, bending down and placing a kiss on top of my head. If a blush was able to appear under my fur, my face would be beat red for everyone to see.
“Grace, if you would like, you may kill him." Caden finishes, a smirk on his lips as he backs away, letting me enjoy my prey. I turn to look back at him, my tail wagging happily before I turn to look at Felix, the weasel of a man staring back with such open terror that I wonder if he might die of fright. I take one step towards him and am shocked as he clambers to his feet and takes off, his speed in human form surprising me. The crowd parts, not wanting to touch him know he is mine to deal with.
"Are you going to go after him?" Caden asks amused and I rolled my eyes as I softly padded after Felix, a trail of blood leaking from his finger leading me to the coward as he attempts to climb a tree. I watch in amusement, wondering if this idiot will realize he has company and watch as he falls on his ass for the tenth time. Deciding he has stewed in his fear long enough, I growl and watch as his body straightens in fear. I can see his slight tremors, taste the anxiety and despair in the air and relish in knowing I will be ridding Caden of this trash like person from his life. Stalking towards my prey, I raise my paw just as Felix turns around and slice open his neck. Blood spills out like a geyser and I jump back, not wanting to get any of his filth on my fur. I decide to let Felix have a slow painful death, watching him from a few feet away to make sure he dies. He struggles, his hands clutching his neck to slow the bleeding but the wound is fatal. Even if his werewolf healing were to kick in, its too late. Finally, his body falls against the tree he had been trying to climb and his limbs go limp. I heighten my senses and let out a silent prayer that Felix may be reincarnated as a she-wolf and can experience the pain he caused to the she-wolf he mated. With a final glace at Felix’s dead body, I turn around and pad back towards the lodge.
