I missed you
Kate ground her teeth together as she sat on the dining table, opposite her son’s stand-in father. She had been waiting for the man since morning and it was already noon before he showed up.
Pain rippled through her back bones because of how she’d sprain it, all along. They sat there, silent. Just watching each other.
Kate’s mind was whirling in thought. What is it about this man that has a close resemblance to her son?
Oh, Gabby’s too smart for his own good and he might decide to ask them that. Anyways, that aside, she needed to know what man does. His name. Where he lives and shits like that.
Gathering her bearings, Kate whooshed a long sigh and then sent her gaze to her son's acting father.
“I’m glad, you honored my invitation, mr…?” She drawled with an arched brow, waiting for him to answer.
The man whose eyes were searching for Angela around the empty house got a whisper of Kate’s question and cleared his throat.
Their eyes met briefly and he responded “Kenneth. You can as well shorten it to Ken.”
“Good, Ken.” She parroted and gave him a small smile. “As you already know, I’m Kate and your…I mean, my son’s name is Gabby. He's six and quite smart for his age.” She began.
Relented, Ken gave up searching the house for Angela and focused his attention on Kate. He nodded at Kate’s words.
“So…uh…I can’t really walk you through my details of my life…I mean, my personal life. But I’d like us to know a few things about ourselves.”
“I agree.” He jerked his head in a nod. “So, where do we start?” He questioned.
At that, Kate stood up, loving the fact that he's utterly eager to get this done. She clenched into the room and got a handle on a book and pen. Then she waded out, back into the dining room again.
“To avoid, forgetting anything about us…I think we better, pen everything down. So, you'll write yours here….” She handed him the piece of paper she tore and gave him a pen. “While I write mine here and then once we're done, we exchange it.”
“Copy that.” Ken agreed, giving her a nod. “So, what are the things you'd like to know.”
Then Kate began rattling off the things she'd love to know.
What Ken does for a living…
How old he is…
Where he lives.
What made him not to have visited Gabby since he was a baby.
Why he doesn’t want to live with them at New Orleans.
What his hobby is.
Can he read a bed night story…
The question Kate wrote were many, the man practically shouted when he saw it and gave Kate the look.
“Look, I know it’s too much but my son is very quick in picking things up. He might figure out all these things are fake.”
“How the hell do I know what to answer when he asks why I refused to visit him since he was baby? And live with you?” He blurted, eyes perched on the long list of questions.
Kate sighed and scratched her head. Damn.
She knew the man would snap when he sees that and he did snapped.
However Kate hadn’t thought of a well fabricated story that’ll fill up as an answer.
“Easy, Ken. Let me think of something.” She said and clipped her index finger into her lip in thought. After some moments of wallowing in silence, Kate jerked up, a smile fitted on her lips. “You will tell him…you and I had issues and we…uh…got separated. Because of that, you traveled to Europe but only came back to America when someone told you I gave birth to him.”
“That sounds a bit convincing. So after that? What will I say is the reason I wouldn’t move with you in New Orleans?”
Kate deliberated on that. But she figured that sticking to the Europe aspect of the story would make more sense because this would only last for a while. So it’ll be better they tell Gabby that Ken would still go back to Europe ‘cause he had a business to run.
At that thought, Kate leaned closer and rendered it to Ken. Afterward, they dived into learning themselves.
Through that, Kate figured out that Ken was into construction company and has been in Sin city for about six months. He didn’t exactly reveal if he’s living alone but he did told Kate where he lives.
Of course, Kate wouldn’t allow Gabby to spend the night at the stranger’s house.
They learned all there is to learn about each other and also how to fake it and make it look real to Gabby.
In between their lesson, Tiffany called and gave Gabby the privilege to speak with Kate. Kate seized the opportunity and lured Ken to speak with her son.
Things will surely work out well through the period Gabby will spend with her in Las Vegas.
She wouldn’t hurt her son’s feelings and make him feel like his father abandoned him, even though there’s truth to that word.
Kate never told Gabby his father died. That would definitely complicate things should the man responsible for her child storm into their lives one day.
Somehow…Kate’s subconscious is holding onto the idea that the man would come someday. She needed to wait.
By the time they were done, the darkness of the night had casted its dark shadows on the earth’s surface.
As a way to make Ken feel happy, Kate had managed to make a pan cake with the last available flour and condiments in the house and he nursed it with the chilled Apple juice, Kate gave him.
“So, does he know you…are a pornstar?” Ken blurted out. He had wanted to ask that question all along but he decided against it. However, he doesn’t know how that naked question tore from his throat.
Kate was shocked that he knew. Well, if he enjoys watching porn he might have seen one of her videos. Or he might have learned the truth from Angela that last time.
The latter guess was the truth. Ken had learned about their profession from Angela when he was knee-deep, ramming her watery sex the last time.
“I’m so…sorry. It came out like that.”
“No…it’s okay.” Kate assured with the gentlest of her voice.
Hell, she’s thankful that Ken hadn’t mention this in front of her sister, Tiffany. Her little secret from her family would have been brought to light. And who knows what her father would do to her.
She cleared her throat and the sound of it carried away the awkwardness that suddenly gloved the air around them.
Is Ken appalled by her work as a pornstar? Not that she cares, though. He can think whatever he likes. She’s after the money and how she'll use it to salvage her family from poverty.
“No, no one from my family knows.” She said truthfully and Ken jerked his head in a quick nod.

Later, when Ken had finished devouring the contents Kate gave to her, he stood to leave.
Decidedly, Kate walked in tow to see him off.
“Thanks for today, Ken. I'll give you a call once they land in Sin City. We’ll head to the airport and pick them up.” Kate rattled as she flung the front door open and ushered Ken onto the porch.
“Noted, Kate. When would that be?” He asked, reluctantly.
“That should be on Thursday.” She said.
However, just as Ken made to clamber down the porch stairs, they both paused at the sight of the man before them.
Kate’s heart took a dive in her chest before slipping into her belly. The very sight of that man with mass of ebony curls makes her feel lost.
She locked gaze with him and swarm in the depth of his almond eyes. She wasn’t expecting to see him.
But, little did Kate know that these past three days without setting eyes on her had him sick in the bones.
Aiden’s eyes quickly dimmed as he watched Kate and the man she just stepped out with. He moved several inch closer and stared down at her.
“Kate…” He trailed his eyes to Ken.
“Hey, man!” Ken greeted, palm out. He sure as hell knows who Aiden is. One of the sex gods of Brazzers.
With effort, Aiden clasped his hand on the man’s and nodded.
Ken turned to Kate and…
“Will get going. Thanks for having me, Kate.” He offered her a wink and strutted away.
Turning his attention back to her, he asked. “So, he's the one warming you up, now?”
The jealousy in his voice was so apparent. It wasn’t lost on Kate. Her heart fluttered against her chest.
“No, Aiden ” She snapped. A pause. Then. “He’s just working for me. I mean…he was working for my friend.” She wouldn’t tell him the actual truth.
She hasn’t find it in her to tell them the truth about her son. Yet.
“What brought you here?” She asked, changing the topic.
At that question, Aiden's heart warmed and he remembered the reason he came here.
“I…missed you.” Covering the last space between them, they stand skin to skin. Breath to breath.
Kate felt tingles down her spine as he caressed her cheeks with his thumbs.
“Were you avoiding me, Kate?” His voice dropped an octave.
“No. Why would I do that? I’ve just been busy.”
“I thought you already traveled home for the holiday. Just came to see of I can get anything to reach you through your friend. Maybe…visit you there.” He stated, eyes held hers.
Shocked, she rasped. “Why would do that?”
“Because three days without you felt like three years without water, Kate.” His long string of breath kissed her nose and her lips.
He pulled her close. His lips a fraction of an inch away from his…then. “I need you to be inside you, Kate. I need you.”
At that, his lips took a swipe at hers, tangled together and started a fast, hungry moves against hers.
