Dark days....
With a broken heart, Kate boarded a cab to Angela’s place when the guys left. Oh, well, despite all, Alex offered to drop her off at Aiden’s place as they initially agreed on because of Kate’s health but she waved him off with an excuse of wanting to visit Angela before heading back to Aiden’s place.
Alex didn’t want to argue, he wanted quiet. He wanted to allow himself some thoughts and think of the next thing to do. So he decided to recluse himself in his own house.
After Alex left, Kate took off to Angela’s. Now, the cab already reached the destination and like a total zombie, Kate alighted, paid and trailed the steps to Angela’s porch. Standing before the white wooden door, she knocked.
Seconds after, Angela fluttered the door open and her eyes clashed with Kate’s. Before Angela could speak, Kate’s tears came forthwith.
“What happened, girl? Why are you in tears?” The question oozed from Angela’s lips as she dragged Kate’s limp body into the living room.
Unable to speak, Kate sunk in tears and Angela allowed her the time to let all her emotions out. When the tension left Kate’s lips, Angela gently rubbed her stiff shoulders and asked.
“What happened, Kate?”
Kate hiccupped, swiped the waters marring her face and offered in a broken whisper. “They fought tonight.”
If Angela was surprised at Kate’s words, she didn’t show it.
“Because of you? I thought they've already established they'd share you?” Gently, Angela asked but before she finished, Kate was already shaking her head.
“No. Because of someone…I do not know her but I figured she was very important in their lives.”
The words stabbed Angela’s gut, followed by a cloud of sympathy for Kate. She thought by what Kate said, the twins were cheating on Kate.
“Not that.” Kate whispered, aiming to drag Angela away from her negative thoughts. “The girl was from their past.”
Brows up, Angela uttered. “What has their past have to do with the present?”
“Because Alex raped her.”
At Kate’s admission, Angela gasped in total shock. Literally everyone in Brazzers know their staunch devotion to help rape victims but here, now, Kate was revealing that Alex forced himself on a girl. On their ex.
“Aiden found out to truth today and went on a total rampage. But, that’s not my main problem…” She trailed off as the words the men spilled circulated through her mind again, with a force that almost made her dizzy.
“What is it, then?” Curiosity gnawed at Angela and she watched as another trail of tears left Kate’s eyes.
“Everything they described about what went on back at New Orleans years ago was precisely what happened to me, Sophia.”
Angela snorted, confused. “You mean about your affair with a stranger?”
Kate gave her a nod and Angela pieced the scattered pieces of puzzle quickly. “You mean to tell me, Aiden was the one? That he knocked you up?”
Angela practically shot to her feet, pacing the space between them. Kate still had her head lowered, thinking.
“We need a DNA test. Real quick Kate. Gabby sure as hell has a father.” Angela spouted, equal parts shocked and happy.
If it ends up being the same, then fate knows truly the game she was playing all along.
“But…how do I get Gabby’s blood?” Kate probed, getting anxious. She stood up as Angela paused and stared.
“You mustn’t need a blood to conduct paternity test. I saw Gabby used comb this morning and a tiny tendril of his hair was in it.”
While Angela was speaking, her feet was already rushing into the room and towards the dress where she grabbed the small red comb Tiffany forgot when they were heading back to New Orleans.
Angela found a transparent bag and placed it in it. Grabbing a hold of it, Kate stared.
“All you have to do, Kate is to get a tendril of Aiden’s hair. Tomorrow we'll hurry down to hospital to conduct the test.”
Angela pulled Kate in a bear hug and whispered I to the depth of he tears. “Let’s be hopeful.”

Aiden felt totally wasted. Broken. Betrayed. He had scattered his apartment in rage. Shards of glass strew across the floor, couches. Everywhere.
He has procured a wound at the process and his wrists are bleeding heavily but he didn’t care.
If only his bleeding wound would stop his bleeding heart. His bloody fist clasped tightly on the bottle of cognac and he took swig after swig.
That was all he could do since he stepped his foot into the apartment. Now, that he was wasted, he lay on the floor, dozing.
Aiden wasn’t aware when Kate came in. She took in the room and moaned bitterly, especially when she saw Aiden’s bleeding wound.
If Aiden’s as wasted as this…how about Alex?
Kate hurried to the bathroom where a first aid kit was and hauled it out. Getting to where Aiden laid helplessly, she held his blood hand unto her lap.
Stirring, Aiden hiccupped as he took Kate in. “Baby, is that you…?” He whispered out, his gaze was filled with a fog so he couldn’t exactly see who it was.
“Yes, it’s me.” Kate muttered as he cupped her cheek with his free hand. “Why did you drink this much? Why did you turn her to a dirt?”
“I didn’t drink, baby. I’m sober.” He slurred.
Yeah, right. Completely sober, Kate thought.
She applied the Salin solution on his wound, disinfecting it. Then she got the gauze and began wrapping up the wound.
A hiccup, Aiden let out in a whisper. “She trusted us to protect her. But Alex…he broke her. He broke her future too, baby. I can’t believe my own brother could do that.”
Kate felt the sadness that coated his tone. He’s totally hurt.
She settled down and clasped his head against her lap, combing her fingers through his ebony tresses.
Immeasurable amount of tears slithered down her cheeks. Everything about that night navigated through her mind.
From her bosses betrayal to feeling all brawn arms draped around her. Those months of despair as her belly bloated, Kate loosed herself in the memories. She let it soar through her mind as though it’s happening again.
She was but a minor when it all happened. She hadn’t figured her life out then. Her pains precisely worsened as her son grew up without a father.
Those days were dark. Those days were among those Kate wished she’d never remember. It’s not easy being a single mother which is why Kate ensured to appreciate those who were.
But now, it’s time to find out if actually Gabby would have a chance at a real father. There’s no need wasting any more minute.
Kate got a handle on the scalpel, sank her fingers into Aiden’s mass of ebony hair and cut a tiny piece.
A tiny piece that'd determine her son’s future.
“Baby…I feel hurt. So hurt. I love him so much. But I’m hurt. He always been there for me. For us. But I’m hurt. I never expected that.”
In his drowsy state, Aiden uttered. Some where in the recesses of his heart, his love for Alex remains. Though, broken, his brother still main his brother.
“it’s okay to feel hurt. But in the end, family don’t take things to heart…” Hunkering low, she kissed his forehead, eyes wet with tears.
