Chapter 38 The end of evilness

NICA bit her lower lip to stop her lips from trembling when she opened it but her voice did not come out. She is not used to being praised and admired by people.

"Before, I don't believe in love at first sight," Chris stated when he was in front of Nica.

"Owh!" everyone screamed simultaneously and they were excited.

Bheng covered her own mouth with her hands to keep herself from screaming in thrill.

Chris hemmed first to clear the blockage in his throat before continuing.

"You're hard to tame, so I'm sorry I planned this along with our parents. I don't know how to get close to your heart because I know you're afraid to trust. You're afraid to love and be loved because you don't want to be hurt."

The tears Nica has been suppressing dripped. Thankfully, Bheng was prepared and she handed her a tissue.

"Please let me make you feel the love that I've felt for a girl for the first time," Chris said and gets down on one knee in front of the young lady.

Janice bent her head down so the people around her would not see her quiet cry. She feels like she was stabbed in the chest a few times. She also felt embarrassed because what her staff knew is that Chris has a special feeling for her.

"I want to make everything right and tell the world that you are the lady I married and will marry again." Chris opened the small box and showed in front of Nica what was inside.

Nica's mouth was shut whilst she was looking back at the young man's intent and meaningful stare. He remained to kneel in front of her whilst he lifts his head to see her. She looked around when the people made noises.

"Say yes, say yes!" they cheered, except for Janice and Margaret who have a bad look on their faces as they stared at Nica.

"Ma'am Nica, look how beautiful the ring is, it'll be a waste not to wear it." Bheng whispered to Nica, but it echoed because the emcee's microphone was there as he waits for an answer.

Even Chris' parents laughed because of Bheng.

Tears keep streaming down Nica's face and she could not open her mouth, her throat is dry. The young man looks like he was begging and nervous as he waits for her answer. When she nodded, he hugged her in delight.

"She nodded... Oh my God, our princess is speechless because she was overwhelmed by the love of our handsome C.E.O!"

Loud applause followed after the emcee spoke. Everyone there was happy and excited for the next following events except for Janice and Margaret.

After putting the ring on her ring finger, Chrismith kissed it. There are two rings there now. He stood up and hugged the young lady tightly while applying his lips to her forehead.

"Ayiee, so sweet!" Bheng could not stop herself from screaming. Everyone laughed and made their way to the two to congratulate them.

Chris' parents were also overjoyed when their son puts the ring on Nica's finger.

"Congratulations!" Janice was also forced to congratulate her sister. She did not like how the people who thought of her as the one Chris likes, look at her sympathetically. She ignored them and acted normally and did not care about the pain she was feeling. Her mother was like that too, she can say that the two of them can become an actress now.

The smile on Nica's lips faded when she spotted her sister. Even though she was cruel to her, she still feels pity for her. She knows the feeling of having a broken heart because she experienced it many times, like when she would be backfired to her father.

While she was looking at her sister, she thought of not continuing the revelation. But when she shifted her gaze to her stepmother, her mind changed. She remembered the picture she received in the past few days. She should be thankful because she was the one who received the letter that was supposedly for her husband. She hid it and she would reveal it at the right time.

"Thank you, everyone, for giving tribute to our new couple." The emcee called everybody's attention after half an hour.

"Now let's see our company's grandiose new designed clothes!" The emcee said on the stage.

Loud applause joined the lively music. Models came out one by one, wearing the new designs. The teams and the members who made the designs were introduced. The guests were amazed and they started choosing what to display in their boutiques.

"And now!" the emcee said after the ramp.

"Let's proceed to our top designer!" the emcee called Janice to introduce her to everyone.

Nica was sitting on the stage beside Chrismith. Her husband came to her to assist her in climbing.

Her sister's aura was sophisticated and she looks very confident as she walks. She was wearing her first design to remind them of her first work.

Everyone was quiet as they listen to Janice's gratefulness. Her team members were mentioned and they tell how she worked hard.

"I was emotionally unstable these weeks due to personal reasons, but I did my best to do my job right," Janice said.

"That's my girl!" Margaret's voice was loud enough to be heard by everyone as she clapped.

"Even though she wasn't lucky in love, it almost doesn't matter because she has such great talent." One of Janice's friends proudly said.

Nica looks serious and she could not smile that everyone thinks it was because she was jealous of her sister. Even though it still is not happening, she pities her sister for the shame she would have to face. But she has to do it so that her stepmother's arrogance can come to an end.

"Thank you to my mother who is very supportive of my works, she's my inspiration." Janice held her head high as she outstretched her hand toward where her mother is.

The spotlight went to Margaret and she climbed the stage to join her daughter. Everyone admired the two of them and both of their dresses were shining.

Alfonso also joined them and Chris' parents were also there. When the emcee spoke, they moved aside so everyone can see the big screen, where the most grandiose of all, the new design, would be shown.

Janice suddenly felt nervous when something different played on the screen. She expected that the video would show her first. But what was showing was her sister who was busy with what she was doing.

Even Chris felt confused and he gave a questioning look at his wife who was just sitting calmly. He was about to make it stop playing because it might be something that will damage his wife's image, but the video hung.

"What's happening?" Everyone asked when the video suddenly stopped. They were all confused, except for Bheng who kept smiling. When the video played again, different questions can be heard from the audience.

"What's that?"

"Gracious, is what's on the video true?"

"Oh my God, that's shameful!"

"What the heck, she did that to her own sister?"

"How can...?"

The questions and everyone's reaction when the video played again.

Janice ran down the stage and she could not take the shame. Margaret wanted to wish that she could sink into the ground because of the embarrassment she was feeling.

Chris and Alfonso were both dazed as they just stared at the video. It was clearly seen on the video how Janice stole Nica's work. Her conversation with Nica's secretary as she bribed her was also clear. The last video was taken from a bar. Rose was there, who was Nica's former secretary.

Rose was obviously drunk and she was talkative while talking to Bheng, Nica's new secretary.

"I'm really regretting that I let my previous job be taken from me. I'm regretting that I got carried away by bribery." Rose's head was shaking and she keeps on swaying her hand.

"Just go ahead and take out your bitter feelings, I'm just here listening," Bheng answered whilst smirking as she tapped her shoulder.

"Even though Ma'am Nica seemed aloof to everyone, she was very kind, yet I managed to betray her."

"Just what on earth did you do?" Bheng joked.

"It's that… I report every movement of Ma'am Nica to Ma'am Janice in exchange for a big amount. Even that first design Ma'am Janice made, it was actually Ma'am Nica's."

"Oh, then you're rich now because you are paid by both sides, plus that bribery?"

Rose pouted. "That's the worst, my beauty has died, and then I don't have money either! The money I give to my boyfriend wasn't enough anymore and he broke up with me."

Everyone laughed at the last video when Rose cried like a child. When it stopped playing, they gave their own comments about what they discovered.

"God, we were stupid to believe those made-up stories about the daughter of the real owner of our company!" One of the stockholders commented, Margaret's friend, Loida.

"It's no doubt that she's really the owner of that design because she inherited that talent!" Someone said. When Nica's mother was still alive, she was known for creating beautiful clothes designs.

"Why did we forget who was the real owner of the company? We did nothing but to criticize her from the start." A lady was regretting and sad as she looked at Nica, who remained still in her seat, sympathetically.

Everyone who looked down on Nica's talent felt conscience. Now it came to their mind that if she really is wicked, they should have been fired from their works.
