Chapter Thirty-Two
Chapter Thirty-Two
Bella paid no attention to him, focusing instead on the two people ahead—her husband and her close friend, both enjoying this party together. They looked so perfect together that Bella couldn't help but smile. She had anticipated this scene and had imagined various reactions in her mind, but in the end, she could only stand from a distance and watch them.
"They look so perfect together, don't they? Many guests here probably think they're a married couple, and they don't deny it. Well, well, the official wife can only stand from afar and watch her husband with another woman. I wonder if you the third party meddling in their romantic and passionate affair," Levi said, teasingly enjoying Bella's reaction, paying no attention to her emotions.
Bella reluctantly smiled, even though she had seen this scenario many times. Why did it always feel so bitter? Bella didn't care about the man next to her or what he was saying. She silently swallowed her tears and tried not to show any signs of pain.
"Why? I thought you would be angry or at least step out there to make those two feel uneasy," Levi said, a bit disappointed by Bella's weak response. He had hoped for something more interesting to stir up the atmosphere.
Bella finally glanced at Levi, lightly smiling but with a sarcastic tone. "It's not the first time I've seen them like this. You don't need to provoke me. We both knew this would happen."
"But I was hoping for a more interesting reaction from you. What's wrong? Have you stopped loving your husband?" Levi asked, moving closer and lifting Bella's chin, narrowing the gap between them. Their posture was subtle, but amidst the cheerful atmosphere, no one paid attention to them.
Bella coldly looked at Levi and said, "My feelings are none of your business. We're just a mutually beneficial cooperative relationship. Anyway, if Max stops loving me, he'll treat me differently. I understand him very well." Although Max came to her for his own interests, Bella could still feel the genuine affection he had for her. She wasn't blinded by love; she really could sense the emotions from Max. But he had choices, and he betrayed this marriage.
In the end, Max was a greedy man. What he wanted wasn't just her father's company, not a happy life with Pearl or a marriage with her. He desired all those things. Max was obsessed with power and wealth, yet he still wanted an exciting love and a warm family with a caring wife.
"Max is torn between two women, and he can't give up either of them. Do you know why, Levi?" Bella swirled the wine in her glass, admiring its beautiful and enticing red color.
Levi raised an eyebrow, looking at her inquisitively. "Why?"
"Take a guess. I want to know what an outsider like you thinks," Bella said, taking a sip of her wine, her eyes fixed on the other guests.
Levi stared at her for a long time, finding this woman quite mysterious. She exuded a captivating allure and had a gaze that seemed as dark as the night, leaving him a bit puzzled. "I don't know. I just see that you still love your husband."
Bella chuckled at his response, her laughter bitter but intriguing. In Levi's eyes, it was both mocking and seductive, making him gaze at her in bewilderment. "Exactly. I love my husband deeply, despite his betrayal. It's not blind love, as you might think. Love comes in many forms."
Levi felt that she wasn't talking about simple love. He asked, "Love leading to hatred? Because you love Max, will you do anything to make him go to hell?"
Bella didn't answer directly but continued to look at the couple conversing with other guests. After a while, she noticed Levi was still standing beside her, seemingly lost in thought.
"Why are you standing here like this? You're the host of this party; you should be greeting guests over there." Bella wasn't comfortable being stared at so intensely.
Levi continued to gaze at Bella, seemingly oblivious to her words. "You're truly fascinating. I wonder which lucky man will have you after all this is over."
Levi said this and took a sip of his wine, moving on to greet other guests, leaving Bella feeling incomprehensible by his lingering gaze.
"He's talking nonsense?" To avoid detection, Bella decided not to engage in conversation with the guests and instead found a comfortable waiting room where she could enjoy drinks and sweets. Since Max didn't accompany her, he didn't hand Bella an invitation. However, she had privately informed Levi earlier, so she could enter without the need for an invitation.
Enjoying the freedom to move around without scrutiny, Bella felt content in the quiet space with minimal attention. Sitting alone, she closed her eyes to immerse herself in the tranquil atmosphere. However, before she could fully appreciate the calm, she heard the sound of a door opening.
Bella frowned slightly as she had instructed the staff not to let anyone disturb her. When she opened her eyes, a man was standing in front of her.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" Bella asked irritably, displeased by his continuous disruption of her peaceful environment.
Levi, looking down at Bella from above, found her angry expression captivating, making it hard for him to look away. He smirked mischievously and licked his lips, "Seeing you from this angle is quite interesting. Let's try it. I wonder how you'll look at me when you have that in your mouth and look up at me." As he spoke, he pressed her head against his crotch.
Bella immediately pushed him away in shock, standing up abruptly. "Are you insane? You are definitely an animal in heat! What a psycho." Bella recoiled at his words, surprised by his shameless behavior.
Levi, unapologetic, sat down across from her. "You know, I haven't been a gentleman from the start, and I'm not hiding that."
Bella, fearing that he might become more aggressive, hesitated to approach him. She took a deep breath. "I don't need to know. Just behave like a human. Also, when is the auction starting?" She decided to wait until the official auction began before leaving. Bella couldn't comprehend why this man would disrupt her peaceful space, hosting such a grand party but not attending it himself or engaging in conversations, choosing to disturb her solitude instead.
Even more perplexing was the fact that no one seemed to notice the disappearance of the party host. "If I'm not there, someone else will replace me. Are you worried about me?" Levi grinned mischievously, staring directly at Bella, causing her discomfort. She retorted, "Don't delude yourself. I have no reason to worry about you."
Bella found it unnatural to converse with this man. His gaze felt as if he wanted to devour her. Despite doing nothing more than making random comments and staring at her intensely, Levi's presence felt intimidating to Bella.
"Do you want to buy that piece of land?" Levi finally asked, shifting the focus back to the main topic. Bella shook her head, she didn't have much money to buy that piece of land. "I don't have much money to buy it.".
Levi offered, "I can lend you the money." He assumed she wanted the land and was ready to lend her the amount, but he wanted her to repay him differently.
Bella raised an eyebrow at Levi's suggestion, clarifying that she had no interest in the land. "I'm not interested in that piece of land. How could you think I want it? Maybe you assume I have some big reason for attending this party, but forget it." Bella kept her intentions hidden, as her plans were not something significant.
Levi smirked, disliking Bella's mysterious demeanor. "Can't you tell me? I won't reveal it to anyone." He pleaded like a child wanting to know a secret, but Bella continued eating without paying attention to Levi.
As the auction began, Levi, as the party host, had to address the guests.
"Firstly, I'm delighted to have all of you here. As stated in the invitation, there will be an auction during the party, and the proceeds will go to the ZoZ charity fund. Among the antique items I've brought for auction, there are also pieces created by..."
After Levi's opening speech, he calmly stepped down from the stage, allowing another MC to take over, and he quickly disappeared from everyone's sight.
