Chapter Sixty-Five
Chapter Sixty-Five
"... That's right, men are the most easily changeable creatures in the world. And the sign that they are gradually changing is when they begin to show indifference to something they used to care about and love very much... Ah, don't mind my words. I think it's because Max no longer cares as much about his career and work as before. You know, Max's mind was always focused solely on work, but now he's paying more attention to me." Bella smiled very naturally.
Then, without waiting for Pearl to reply, Bella quickly said she was sleepy and wanted to go to bed, then immediately hung up. Watching the screen go black, Bella smirked; perhaps her words had made Pearl realize something. Pearl was a smart and sharp woman; she would definitely pick up on something in Bella's words. But as long as Bella pretended that she only mentioned it casually, Pearl would have no reason to doubt her.
"You should understand Max better than me, Pearl," Bella murmured, unable to help but laugh.
This time, since Max did not intend to spend the night out, Bella deliberately locked her bedroom door to prevent Max from sneaking into her room in the middle of the night. She didn't want to sleep with Max, and with Max wanting to have a child, she had to be even more cautious.
Bella had never felt so uneasy and worried while being in her own home. Perhaps Max's words during dinner had made her wonder and think deeply; Max's intentions were clear and evident on his face.
Perhaps Max believed that once Bella gave him a child, she wouldn't be able to leave him and it would be even harder for her to leave this rotten marriage.
In the early morning, Bella was woken up by loud noises outside.
"Bella, Bella, are you up? Hurry and get ready; we still have to get to the airport." Max kept knocking on the door outside, and he kept turning the doorknob but found that the door was locked from the inside.
Bella looked at the clock and sighed, so that Max wouldn't continue, she said loudly, "I'm up, don't keep knocking. You go down to the living room and wait for me. I need to get ready."
Max stopped after hearing her, but he still urged her to hurry up.
Bella had neither thought about nor wanted to go on a trip with Max at this time. After everything Max had done to her, how could Bella enjoy going on a trip with her betrayer?
But upon reconsideration, going on a trip had once been a wish of hers after getting married. Before, it was a wish to go with Max, but now it wasn't the same.
Max was right when he said he wanted to surprise her, he had carefully prepared everything, from the plane tickets to the luggage, and even the hotel room they would stay in was the best VIP room.
Bella wasn't looking forward to this trip being enjoyable because she knew Max was plotting something with her, but instead of avoiding it, Bella chose to confront it, rather, she couldn't escape
Entering the room, Bella was taken aback by the decor.
"Did you really book this room? Is there some mistake by the hotel staff?" Bella looked around a bit and spoke up.
The room's dominant color was pink-red; the decorative elements such as curtains, bedsheets, and night lamps were all extremely harmonious and sensual. The night and decorative lamps were adjusted to create soft lighting, bringing a romantic atmosphere to the room.
It was obvious at first glance that it offered a fresh, romantic feeling and... it was very suitable for things that only couples would do. Naturally, Bella did not like this room; it made her shiver and feel uneasy. When Max proposed the idea of traveling together, Bella had an uneasy premonition; she wasn't foolish enough not to guess Max's intentions, but she didn't expect Max to really choose such a special room, almost as if Max had intentionally and blatantly revealed his own purpose.
Ignoring the decorative elements that made Bella uncomfortable, the only thing she liked about the room was that it offered a direct view of the beautiful sea.
Max stood behind Bella, wrapped his arms around her waist, and gently kissed her on the cheek. "What's wrong? Don't you like it? It took me a lot of time to find a hotel I liked. If you don't like it, I'll be very sad."
Bella smiled wryly, gracefully removing Max's hands. "Of course I like it, I was just a bit surprised because I've never seen a room with such unique decor before. Max, you really know how to choose."
Being praised by Bella, Max smirked, as if he had victory in his grasp. Once again, he moved closer to Belle, wanting to hold her. The romantic ambiance and space of the room made Max's mind and body heat up.
Max suddenly felt regret for not paying more attention to his wife in the past, and regretted even more that he hadn't realized sooner how beautiful and alluring she was. Compared to Pearl, who was constantly whining and causing trouble, his wife was much more docile and attractive.
Max made no effort to hide his desire for Bella, but as he was about to reach out and hug her, Bella quickly spoke up.
"Max, the weather today is so nice. It would be a shame if we came all the way to Hawaii and didn't go to the beach," Bella hurriedly walked over to her suitcase to grab her things, but she noticed the disappointment clearly showing on Max's face. "Don't worry, we still have plenty of time."
Although she said this to comfort Max, Bella just wanted to leave as soon as possible and go back home. She didn't know why, but being alone with Max made her feel very uncomfortable and disgusted; even a slight touch from Max made her nauseous.
Max agreed and did not continue what he was about to do, as he thought it would be too boring to jump straight into intimacy since they had just arrived. Max thought being too eager might upset Bella and give her the impression that he had brought her here only to have sex with her.
The weather here was sunny yet pleasant; perhaps because it wasn't a special holiday, there weren't too many people around, which made Bella feel more relaxed. Like everyone else, Bella wore a tight and sexy bikini that was designed to accentuate her body shape and highlight her curves. The top was a small two-piece bra, and the bottom was a thin-string triangle bikini, creating an overall look of allure and showcasing her figure.
Bella had a naturally beautiful body, and wearing short clothes further enhanced her charm, emphasizing her long, smooth white legs.
Bella was happy on her own, not caring what her husband was doing since she didn't want to be in the same place as Max for even a moment.
...
"Why are you here?" Max frowned, displeased.
Before the trip with Bella, Max hadn't told anyone, not even Pearl. But now, Pearl had found her way here, leaving Max with a splitting headache. He couldn't understand what Pearl was thinking, following him and Bella here.
Pearl pursed her lips, showing great sadness. "Max... why are you being so harsh with me? I just wanted to see you. When I heard you were going on a business trip, I wanted to surprise you... but I didn't know you were going with Bella. I swear, I had no idea you were traveling together."
Max looked at Pearl skeptically. It was true that he had told Pearl he was going on a business trip to meet foreign partners and didn't need her to go with him this time. He had lied because he didn't want Pearl causing trouble or calling to disturb him while he was with Bella.
However, he hadn't expected Pearl to follow him to Hawaii.
"Are you telling the truth?"
"Of course. Last time we spoke, I understood. It was my fault for being too selfish, only thinking about my own emotions and not realizing how much you've suffered all this time... so when I heard you were going on a business trip, I made the effort to come here to surprise you..." Pearl's current fragile and delicate demeanor quickly made Max believe her.
Max couldn't bring himself to criticize Pearl; after all, Pearl didn't know he was traveling with his wife. He simply sighed and said, "Alright, but you can't let Bella know you're here. And you must understand that Bella and I have a legal marital relationship, so whatever happens, you can't interfere. If you don't, I'll assume you're stalking me and trying to cause annoying for me."
Max's words were like a command, forcing Pearl to comply. Pearl clenched her hands tightly, her nails digging into her palms, but she didn't feel any pain, only anger.
"Are you saying that even if you sleep with Bella, I can't interfere? Is that what you mean?" Pearl's voice was quiet as if she were trying to contain something.
Max raised an eyebrow at her. "Pearl, you must understand the nature of our relationship. My sleeping with Bella is a given; from the time we got married until now, I haven't touched Bella only because I was accommodating your wishes. But now I want to have a child."
Pearl looked up at Max immediately upon hearing this, and she quickly took his hand. "If you want a child, I will have one for you."
Max sighed. He wasn't sure how much Pearl understood of what he had said earlier, given her reaction. He gently brushed off Pearl's hand, patting her to reassure her.
"I want to have a child, but the child must be born to Bella herself. The company belongs to Bella's father, so essentially, if Bella's father dies, all assets will belong to his only daughter. I and Bella have been married for four years... yet I have never been intimate with her. How would Bella see me? Moreover, the child born would bind her. Pearl, whether or not I have a child with Bella, it won’t affect our relationship."
Pearl knew exactly what Max was talking about and what his intentions were. Max wanted to use the child to bind Bella; currently, Bella and Max were only bound by the marriage certificate, but if Bella if wanted a divorce, there was nothing Max could do about it.
It's not that Pearl didn't believe Max, but the words Bella had said to her before still echoed in her mind.
