Chapter Seventy-Six
Chapter Seventy-Six
Bella didn't know what method Max used last night and this morning to make Pearl leave so obediently. She and Pearl had once been close friends until she discovered Pearl's betrayal, and of course, Bella knew that Pearl was not the type to easily follow others' orders.
Moreover, how could a woman like Pearl sit idly by while her man was intimate with another woman? But what amused Bella most was that Pearl seemed more like Max's wife than Bella.
In fact, with Pearl gone, Bella should have felt relieved, but she was somewhat disappointed—she had thought Pearl would insist on staying. That was the Pearl she knew; this easy compliance felt unusual to Bella.
Because Pearl left, Bella had to think of a way to avoid having to be with Max.
But to relieve what she considered this pressure, Bella happily went shopping. After all, the goal for this morning was to buy a lot of expensive brands and spend a lot of her husband's money. I don't know why, but Bella really wanted to see the pale look on Max's face when she saw the amount she had spent.
A while after Bella left, the receptionist from earlier quickly picked up the phone, saying, "Yes sir, she's left the hotel now."
This wasn't Bella's first time in Hawaii. Before she married Max and became a full-time housewife, she had traveled to many places, including Hawaii. But it had been four years since she last came here, so some things had changed, but not too drastically.
To spend money quickly and in large amounts was quite a challenge for Bella since she had never been in the habit of extravagant spending. But it wasn't impossible—Bella set her sights on a famous brand and strutted in confidently, without hesitation.
She had no idea how much time had passed, nor how many stores she had entered, or how many items she had bought. But spending her scumbag husband's money felt incredibly satisfying and fun.
"This is fun, I should have done this earlier," Bella chuckled as she looked at the credit card in her hand. After all, the woman with the right to spend Max's money was her, but she had never had the opportunity to exercise that privilege before.
Bella shopped the entire morning until she felt a bit tired and hungry. She turned to the store attendant and said, "Please wrap these and send them to this address for me."
Bella intended to go to a high-end restaurant for lunch, but before she could step out, she noticed a dress with a style similar to the one she had given to Pearl earlier. At that time, she had given it to Pearl because she was provoked by Pearl, also to prove she wasn't the kind of woman who relied on men's money.
"Miss, you like this dress?" The female attendant smiled, noticing Bella staring at the dress for a while but not touching it.
Bella raised an eyebrow and asked, "Do you think this dress suits me?"
"I think this dress suits you very well, Miss. The color and design complement your curves and fair skin," the attendant replied, assuming that Bella liked the dress but was hesitating. She didn't doubt Bella's financial ability, as the price of this dress was only one-third of the shirt Bella had just purchased.
Hearing that, Bella just smiled slightly, actually, she felt the same way but...
“You're right… but it's so cheap, I don't like cheap things. But since I quite like it, please help me wrap it up. As for this dress, it will be delivered to this address.” Bella wrote the new address on a small piece of paper and gave it to the female employee.
As soon as she stepped out of the luxury store, Bella put on her sunglasses and arrogantly strode along the street. The weather was great today, and the large amount of money she'd spent lifted her spirits considerably. She chose a nearby upscale restaurant for lunch.
"Lady, do you have a reservation?" The male attendant greeted her with a smile, seeing that Bella looked like a top-tier celebrity.
Bella gently shook her head and lowered her sunglasses, "Could you arrange a table for me? I'd like to have lunch here."
The attendant quickly led Bella to a table and handed her a menu to choose from. It was rare for Bella to lunch at such restaurants alone, but after some hesitation, she picked her meal. However, just as the attendant finished noting her order, a man sat down across from her.
"Another serving... just like her." The man said with a smile, his eyes fixed on Bella.
Bella raised an eyebrow and asked, "Why are you here?"
"You're the only one who can eat at this restaurant." He shrugged nonchalantly.
"I meant, why do you have to sit at my table? There are plenty of empty ones, Levi." Bella sighed. She felt that this man's actions were quite mysterious, unpredictable, and elusive.
She and Levi had spent the whole night together, having sex until morning. Even in the shower, he didn't let her go, and they ended up doing it twice in the bathtub. Bella was completely drained by this man, and she passed out in the tub on top of him. When she woke up, Levi was nowhere to be found. She was lying in bed, her sleepwear changed, and the messy room had been cleaned up.
At first, Bella thought that housekeeping had cleaned up while she was unconscious, but when the hotel staff brought breakfast, she just knew that it was Levi who did all the cleaning, including changing her clothes.
Thinking about Levi's appearance from last night, Bella smiled faintly. "I was just thinking... you really like cleaning? But... I don't think you're the type to have a cleanliness obsession."
"Maybe it's because your husband never cleaned, so you think that way. I wouldn't suggest you get to know a lot of men just to understand them. But it seems like you're quite familiar with Max's habits." Levi shrugged.
Levi's words left Bella speechless. Just then, the food arrived. Levi ordered the same dishes as Bella, and if someone else looked in, they might think they were a couple on a date.
While eating, Bella suddenly remembered something and said with a smile, "I'll pay for this meal. Let me treat you."
Levi raised an eyebrow but nodded casually, "Fine."
"Aren't you curious why I want to treat you to this meal?" Bella asked, not thinking a rich man like Levi to want a woman to pay for his food.
Levi continued eating without a care, replying, "Not at all. From my impression, you're a woman with money. Not as rich as me, but you're not poor, am I right?"
"You have a sharp tongue. But since you said that, feel free to order something expensive. As you mentioned, I'm not as rich as you and I'm not that generous. This might be the first and last time I treat you. So—"
Levi laughed and interrupted her, "So I should feel honored to be treated by you? Is that what you mean? Well then... how about wine, this restaurant has an old and very expensive wine.
"Sure. Bring out the most expensive wine you have." Bella smiled cheerfully.
Seeing Bella so cheerful was a rare sight, and Levi was curious. "Is it because your friend left that you're in such a good mood?"
"On the contrary. I'm quite disappointed that she left. My good mood is because of something else."
"Something else? What is it?" Levi asked, intrigued.
But Bella just smiled and didn't say anything. With Pearl no longer there, she had no reason to stay longer. Bella had orchestrated everything, from luring Pearl to Hawaii to having the front desk leak Max's hotel information, including their room number. Even the hotel staff hinting about Max and Bella's dinner at a fancy restaurant the previous night was Bella's doing.
Pearl might have been clever, but she was just a regular woman; if Max didn't want her to know, she never would. Pearl's timely arrival to disrupt Bella and Max's time together was not coincidences.
However, there was one "coincidence" that wasn't planned by Bella—the phone call that pulled Max out of the room the night before. Bella thought about what Levi had said before they had sex, and she discreetly observed Levi's indifferent expression.
"Am I handsome?" Levi suddenly asked.
"Why do you ask that?"
Levi looked straight at Bella and grinned mischievously, "Because you've been staring at me."
