The next morning I woke up to the sun shining through my window tickling the tip of my nose. I opened my eyes and realized that I was alone. Or was it all just a dream? I stretched out in bed and realized right away that I actually slept with Mr. Silva last night, or rather Thiago. And the sex was just fine. More than good he was perfect.
Still, it was disappointing to know that he snuck out sometime tonight.
I turned to my dessert and saw a Din4 envelope. A yellow piece of paper with a note on it.
I wish you every success for the future. Thank you for the special night. Thiago
I crumpled the note in my hand. It was goodbye. So for him it was a one time thing and he has no plans to see me again. I shook my head.
Actually I should be happy right? I didn't like him anyway. But it kind of bothered me. Because it felt like he took advantage of me.
Especially this note. What shoud that? He wishes me all the best for the future? He ruined my future for me.
I snorted loudly. My gaze slid to the Din4 envelope. What awaits me here? I opened the envelope and pulled out a sheet of paper. It said "employment certificate" in bold letters.
My heart is racing. I read it. Everything from the first line to the last. I swallowed hard. I expected a lot, but not to receive such an excellent job reference.
In grades it was an A with an asterisk. I also noticed a second page: "Letter of recommendation from CEO Silva".
A letter of recommendation? He really made me one? With this letter it was easy to find a new job. It was like a card with which every company took you with a kiss on the hand. Such recommendations are issued only very rarely. And receiving one personally from Mr. SILVA was the non plus ultra. I just couldn't believe it.
Why did he do that? Why doesn't he resign without notice and then write me a letter of recommendation? Dad it doesn't make any sense. The man makes no sense.
I took the recommendation and the certificate and put them with my applications. I would still cover the two open positions today.
But first I needed a hot shower. My whole body still smelled of him. I liked it somehow, but I needed a shower.
I thought about thanking him. However, because of him, I was in the situation in the first place. Still, I was torn. I finally decided to let it be.
I think he wants his rest. From me. At noon I sent off the two applications and finally met up with Andy in a café.
I have already warned him that my news might leave him speechless, as so often lately....
It was 12:39 p.m. and I had a lunch date with Matt. Matt was the CEO of Barnes Miami, one of the city's largest real estate companies.
I worked for the company and was responsible for property valuation and administration. Our expertise was mainly of interest to real estate funds and private clients.
At that time I had written two applications and one of them went to BARNES Miami. I was actually accepted by both companies, but I chose Matt and his company.
I've been working here ever since and I really liked it. My team was super friendly and helpful. And I got along really well with Matt as CEO.
I was almost on friendly terms.
The firm wasn't nearly as big as Bank of America Miami, but it wasn't exactly small either, with 1,200 employees.
"There you are at last" Matt greeted me when we met in the 3 star restaurant. He gave me three kisses on the left and right cheeks. I smiled kindly and had the chair adjusted by Keller.
The restaurant was extremely posh, but since I've worked at Matt, I've been in such circles quite often.
We ordered our food and had a lively chat about the next meeting with a potential new customer.
The time passed quickly and the lunch break was already over. I did the rest of the work before closing my laptop and cleaning up together.
*Knock Knock*
I glanced at the door and Matt walked in. I lifted my head and looked at him questioningly.
"Before you go, I didn't want to ask you to come with me on Saturday night?" he asked me.
"Where to?" I wanted to know.
"There's going to be a big fundraiser for the rebuilding of the East Side Art Museum. We're potential administrators. Many politicians, entrepreneurs and other influential people will be there," he answered my question.
It sounded exciting. And you don't get a chance like this every day. It would also be interesting for me and my career to make contacts and gain a foothold in this world.
"I'd love to come with you," I agreed, smiling at Matt.
"Okay, I'll pick you up at home in the limousine at 7:00 p.m.," he replied.
I nodded and Matt left my office.
One thing was for sure, I had to go shopping with Andy first, I need a dress. A real dress. That just screams elegance and luxury. A real evening dress.
I had to look perfect at Matt's side that night.
Who knows what contacts I will make that evening?
