She couldn't tell if he was warm or cold, serious or joking and her anxiety about him was yet to disappear but one thing she knew for sure was the fact that they were much more compatible than she thought.
She crossed her legs at her ankles as she watched him draw a pair of intertwined legs, one night, during their study of human anatomy.
"So the transverse arch can be seen the best from the front." He explained as he dropped his drawing book, the night.
He had sitted her down on his laps after he had told her he wanted a live model to understand the course better.
"You're right." She replied and he trailed a finger down her forefoot.
"This is the transverse arch."
"Yes."
"And this is the medial longitudinal arch."
"Yes."
"This is the lateral longitudinal arch." He said, sliding his hand down her foot and she nodded.
"Correct."
He moved his hands upwards, slowing his place when he got to her laps. "What about this?"
"It tickles."
"I'm studying right now." He smiled and started to descend his mouth on hers.
But despite her anxiousness, she enjoyed spending nights with him.
Demir ordered pizza for the crew, a couple of days later and everyone gathered to have lunch after class.
"Thank you." Ramiel said as he took out a slice.
"It looks delicious."
"I want corn." April said and Tahti turned to her.
"I thought you were on diet."
"That's why I'm only eating the shrimp." She replied.
"Is that right?"
"Tahti, are you dating someone these days?" Jasmine suddenly asked and everyone fell silent as they turned to her.
"Me?" She asked and cast a sidelong glance at Demir, who was waiting for her response. He was yet to ask her out so she couldn't call him her boyfriend yet. "No. Why?"
Jasmine looked doubtful as she tilted her head. "You just seem to be in a good mood these days.Your face seems to be glowing a bit."
A smile crossed her lips as she lowered her head. "I've been sleeping well."
April almost spilled her drink and Tahti raised her head to see questionable looks on her course mates faces which were directed at her.
"Sleeping well?" April asked and it was then she got the drift.
"I mean, I've been getting lots of sleep."
"That's true, though.Sleeping is the best way to improve the condition of your skin." Jasmine said, before she turned to Derek.
"By the way Derek, would you like a blind date?"
Derek turned to look at April who tore her eyes off him.
"A blind date? With who?"
"My high school friend. She saw a picture of you on WhatsApp and she wants to meet you.
She hasn't been dating for a while, so she's always saying she's lonely."
"Tell your friend..." April started. "...that seeing any guy just because she's lonely won't end well. Lonely people will be lonely even if they date someone."
"And i think that if you're in a relationship you have a kind of duty not to make the other feel lonely."
"You're right about that."
A text came into her phone and Tahti raised it to look at it. It was from Demir, who was seated across her.
«Today?» It read and she raised her head to lock eyes with him.
"Let me see her photo." Derek said and she dropped her phone. Was he really asking her to sleep with him that day as well? In as much as she enjoyed it, she needed to take a breather as she had been sleeping with him, straight for days.
"She's pretty."
"Do you like her?"
Demir softly cleared his throat and she was forced to look at him again. He ran his fingers through the back of his phone and she got he was trying to tell her to check her phone.
"Introduce me to her."
"Should I give you her number then? She likes you."
She wasn't going to give him what he wanted. Since he was going to come to her place that night, she'd busy him with something else.
"So are you interested?" Jasmine asked and Tahti quickly glanced to see if anyone was looking at her before she picked up her phone to type her message.
«Bring ice cream.»
"Send her number."
"No way, she's going to be so happy." Jasmine said and April dropped her slice of pizza.
"Aren't you eating?" Herley asked.
"I don't feel like it." She replied and Tahti took a gulp from her can of soda.
"Okay. Can I eat the shrimp then?"
"Just eat it."
Demir didn't look surprised as she imagined he would when she'd asked him, to teach her how to dance that night as it was related to one of their courses.
The soft barista played from the stereo in her living room and they slightly bowed, as it was the dance rules before starting.
"Take out your hand." He instructed and she obeyed.
"Take a step forward."
"One step forward." She repeated as she took a step forward, stepping on him in the process.
"Sorry."
"It's okay. Let's try it again." He said and they bowed again.
"Hold each other's hands and take a step forward...Go."
He slid an arm around her back as they slowly swayed to the music.
"One, two, turn..." He raised his hand to spin her. "Three four...One, two turn..."
She'd made a good choice asking him to teach her how to dance, rather than resulting to the normal business as usual.
She suddenly stepped on his foot again and was almost falling when he reached to catch her.
"Are you okay? You're going to break my feet soon." He said.
"Should I just give up?" She asked with a sigh before falling back into his arms, where she felt she belonged.
"I got scammed by April. She said this class was really easy."
"Do you really think it's her fault?" He asked and she gave him a smack on the shoulder.
"Let's try again. You seemed to have potential from what I saw in the club." He said and she wiggled out of his arms.
"Forget it. Stop teasing me...Why are you so good at dancing, though?Did you learn this before?Or are you a natural?"
"I'm not sure. My mom's a dancer."
Her eyes brightened up as it was the first time he'd ever open up about his personal life. "Really? Does she still dance?"
He didn't reply but instead pulled her to him. "Do you have time this Sunday?"
"Sunday, well..." Her voice trailed off as she realized what he probably wanted. "Today's Friday, though." She blinked.
"What?" He asked and an awkward silence fell between them for a moment, before he playfully pushed her from him.
"Seriously? Do you think I'm a sex maniac?" He asked.
"Then what is it?"
"There's an exhibit that ends this weekend. I thought we'd go together."
He was right. There was an exhibit taking place that weekend.
"Oh, that...I did want to go..."
"Should we go together?" He asked and she tilted her head.
"Well...I'll think about it."
"Let's go together, okay?"
