Sol agreed to go with Jennie to the gathering, the next day when she asked and Jennie was dumbfounded as she stared at her, in shock.
"You're coming?...To the gathering? Really? Why?"
Sol turned to her after dropping her bag in her locker. "What do you mean? I said I'll go with you or...didn't you want to go?"
"What? Oh, that's true. You're right...Okay, let's go together." She said, with a nervous laugh.
"What's with your reaction?" Sol laughed and Jennie bit her lower lip in worry. Sol hated going to gatherings. She had even been upset when she'd jilted her to go on a blind date so why had she suddenly decided to attend this particular one?
She recalled Herley had asked for her help in winning Sol over so she raised her head.
"By the way, what do you think of Herley?" She asked, wanting to know how she felt about him. Sol hadn't never had anything to do with a guy ever since she was in high school and Jennie watched her bend over to take out chips from the second bag, which was on the floor, before handing it over to her.
"What about him?" Sol asked and she leaned forward.
"You're not interested in him, right?"
Sol hesitated for a while before she answered. "He seemed pretty funny."
"He's funny?" The smile on Jennie's face faded into a frown. Sol had never said any guy was funny before, even when she herself found them to be fun.
"Yeah." Sol nodded and she returned the chips back to her, a pissed look on her face. "What?"
"I don't want this." She said and left.
Tahti woke up to the loud ringing of her doorbell the next morning. Like seriously? She wondered as she pushed her bedcovers aside and got out of bed.
"Who is it?" She asked, wondering who could be that morning's visitor as she made her way to the door. There was no response and a muffled groan escaped her lips as she reached to open the door and she was surprised to see who it was.
"Demir?" She blinked.
He gently pushed the door aside to gain entry and she walked away from him to bump her back against the wall as he closed the door behind him behind him and he walked towards her.
"What are you doing?" She stuttered and he slid a hand to the back of her head as he bent to kiss her, sending her hand reaching up to hold on to his shirt.
What was going on? Were they kissing for real? This was finally happening, she screamed excitedly inside of her.
But this was wrong. She had to stop, her mind cried out in dismay as he pulled her against him to kiss her, softly at first, and then with a swift gradation of intensity that made her cling to him as the only solid thing in a dizzy and swaying world. His insistent mouth was parting her lips, sending wild tremors along her nerves, evoking from her sensations she had never known she was capable of feeling. And before a swimming giddiness spun her round and round, the next thing she knew was that she was wrapping her arm around his neck and was kissing him back.
His hand left her head for a minute to pull down his pull over shirt before returning to wrap them against her body, pressing her hard against his body.
She didn't care anymore. She was going to have him.
His hands trailed down to lift her off the ground and she gasped into his mouth as she wrapped her legs around his waist, her own desire matching his.
He found his way to the sofa on her living room easily, despite having her on him, and he gently lowered himself to sit on the couch before pulling back from her lips.
Desire flamed in his eyes as his hands went to work on the buttons of her pyjamas and her hands went to the back of his head to bury her fingers in his hair. He drew her toward him with his eyes and she inclined her face toward his, burying her mouth in his.
He raised his hand to lower her top pyjamas and her fingers gripped his hair, pulling him closer.
He pulled away again as the top pyjamas dropped to the floor before gently pushing her back to the chair and lying her down. He raised his T-shirt over his head, tossing it to the floor before he crawled over her, sending his lips against her cheek, brushing it lightly—and still that light touch sent shivers through her nerves, shivers that made her whole body tremble.
"If you want me to stop, tell me now." He whispered.
When she still said nothing, he brushed his mouth against the hollow of her temple.
"Or now." He traced the line of her cheekbone. "Or now." His lips were against hers. Again.
"Or—"
But she had reached up and pulled him down to her, and the rest of his words were lost against her mouth. He kissed her gently, carefully, but it was not gentleness she wanted, not now, not after all this time and she ran her fingers down his back, pulling him harder against her.
He tore his lips from her mouth to send kisses down her neck as he slowly slid down the strap of her singlet, exposing her bare shoulder. She bit her lip and gripped his head to suppress her moan as he sent her to a world of rapturous delight.
Her phone suddenly rang, jerking her into reality and she frowned, on realising not only was the space on the bed beside her was empty but so was the sofa as well when she sat up.
She gasped as she slid to the head of the bed to cover her mouth with her palms, on the realization that it had all been a dream, a racy one at that.
It was the first time in her life, that she ever had one and it was with no other person than Demir.
Her eyes dropped to her phone on the bedside and her hands were still shaky, from the shock as she reached to look at the time. She had eleven missed calls, all from Demir but her eyes bulged out of their sockets to realize it was past one in the afternoon when she had presentation at school at nine that morning.
"Darn it. I'm late." She screamed as she raced out of bed to have her bath.
She was running out of her apartment a couple of minutes later, swearing and whopping as she adjusted her shoes laces as she ran down to school.
Why did it have to be Demir? She wondered as she raced to school. And the place had been her house too? And on her presentation day too? Could it have been more terrible?
She arrived school a couple of minutes later and she was headed directly for the Art theatre hall, where students were starting to troop in as she walked to the assistant professor.
"Hello sir." She said, trying to catch her breath.
"Hi."
"I'm Tahti Lee from sculpture."
He paused for a minute, his eyes dilating round as to where he had heard the name. "Oh, the morning class."
"Yes."
"You had a presentation to do, this morning." He replied.
"Yes. Well, I..." Her voice trailed off as she felt embarrassed. "I kind of overslept today. Could I do the presentation for this class instead?"
The assistant professor sighed as he looked at her and she prayed he wouldn't turn her down.
"Okay, I'll give you a chance since you seemed to have rushed here." He said and she smiled. "You're going to get some points off, though."
"Alright. Thank you." She replied and turned to head for one of the empty seats in the hall.
She hadn't been expecting a perfect score, anyway.
"Darn it." She muttered on plodding into a seat. Her stomach was starting to churn and she guessed it was probably from the running.
She felt something itchy on her chin and she raised her finger to trace a finger over it. That was weird, she thought. It hadn't been there yesterday, she thought and raised her phone to look at her reflection to discover it was a zit.
"Darn it." She muttered again. Nothing seemed to be going her way that day. She dropped her phone as she turned to look round the hall. She was sure April was taking this class, but where was she?
Her eyes fell on Demir discussing with his friends and she turned to hide. Why was he there anyway. Was he taking that class too?
"Whatever." She said under her breath and reached to touch the zit on her chin.
"Tahti."
Someone suddenly tapped her shoulder from behind and she turned to see Demir, smiling down at her. "Do you take this class too? Why have I never seen you?" He asked and she raised her hood to her chin to hide the zit.
"Oh well..." She paused to clear her throat. "I usually take the morning class. I'm taking this only today." She bit her before adding. "I overslept."
"Oh." He replied and she veered to take out her books to prepare for her presentation and surprising her when he suddenly walked over to sit beside her.
"Are you with someone?" He asked as her mind went back to the first time they had met at the bar before she laughed, recalling he had asked that question back then too.
