Chapter 2: The Library Holding the Records of the World
I looked around the library and with every glance i take, i see nothing but white walls and bookshelves that seems to be made of the same material as the walls, the walls filled with nothing but countless books that reached upward, i grabbed a random book with a silvery cover from the nearest shelf and looked at the title on the front cover.
"It's pretty thick. Eliar Montreve...You must've lived a very eventful life"
The first words i saw was the name of a person that was written in dark letters signifying that this person has already passed, underneath the name are simple information such as when the person was born, when the person died, and the location of the grave, i returned the book to its slot and walked to another shelf and picked another random book, this time it was with an emerald green cover.
"This one is...Liorn Plains"
A name for a place found in this world was written in dark-green letters with dark outlines, just a simple difference from the book of a native in this world, and like the first book, underneath the name are just simple information regarding when it first started to form, its age, and location, i returned it back to its slot and continued to randomly pick books from the shelfs and read the titles without opening the contents of the books, each book in this library consist of books with full and complete information on the topic written on the cover, how they were created and how they met their end, be it people, monsters, recipes, mountains, ingredients, grass, trees, etc.
Basically everything and everyone in the world that has passed away is recorded here. The purpose of this place was to record and store everything that has happened in this planet, as for the one who built this place, who knows, i never made an effort to know, as for what use the stored information is used for, maybe its used as reference in order to create worlds and civilizations, that was my general conclusion when i first learned of this place.
As for how to enter this space, one must first enter the roots of the world using the mind as the key, you can find the roots in places full of Aether or Mana, inside the roots, one is typically greeted with darkness, the feeling of ripples and the sounds of water droplets, Tyr said that the large ripples are historical events currently happening in the world and once it fades its then recorded in this library and put on display, while the droplets are the triggers for the events to happen, once you enter the roots, you must use your senses to find the paths where the end of history flows, it starts out as a dim light then slowly turns to a line of light, grab that really tight and voila, your here.
And according to Tyr, how history is recorded is one thing but how other things are recorded, such as the book of human life, is another thing, it just so happen that using the flow of history as the keyhole is much easier.
Tap...Tap...Tap
[Theo, what are you doing?]
"Just reading the titles, you took a while"
When i heard the sounds of footsteps behind me along with a woman's voice, i returned the white book that was in my hand from its previous slot and looked towards her.
Infront of me was a beautiful woman with a bright red flower in her hair which is the apposite color of mine, with smooth black hair as dark as the night sky that reaches down the smooth white marble floor, being dragged as she walked towards me in an elegant manner.
Wearing black gloves that reach her forearms which highlights her smooth and pale skin as if untouched by the warmth of the sun, making her look unhealthy, her long black dress which hides her feet, giving of an illusion as if she's floating despite the sounds of her heals tapping the floor as she walks, and her deep violet eyes that reflects no light, like twin voids that gives of an unsettling feeling like your body and guts being twisted and turned as your soul slowly sinks.
"Ahhh~ Tyr, I thought I told you to keep your hair tied, your hair will get dirty if you let it get dragged like that you know?"
[I thought I also told you that you shouldn't worry about such things, everything that touches any part of me is-]
"Stop being stubborn, here, I'll tie it for you"
[...]
I carefully gathered her pitch black hair together, slowly and neatly, I weaved them together with utmost care.
"...And Done, Hmm-hmm~ Just like that one character with long golden hair"
[Who?]
"A fictional character, I forgot her name"
[Does it suit me?]
"You look stunning as always"
[...Hmm, so have you found the ladder?]
"I haven't looked for it yet, I was waiting for you to arrive you see"
[Shall we look together then?]
"That was the plan, shall we look over there?"
[Okay]
