Chapter 52
The dance floor slowly emptied as the night went on, people trickling off to their cars or their pre-booked rooms. Still, myself and Kat twirled and swayed to the slow and undeniably romantic music. When the last couple wandered off, Kat lifted her head from my shoulder, her body still rocking in my arms as she glanced around us.
"Seems like we out-danced everyone." She smiled softly, her dark eyes looking up at me from under her long, black lashes.
"Certainly seems like it." I replied, unable to hide the happy and affectionate tone from my voice.
I held her tighter, enjoying the feeling of her small frame pressed against me, and the idea that my arms were her security, keeping her safe from everything in the world.
"Do you want to leave?" She asked, a small trace of disappointment in her voice.
I never want to leave. I want to stay in this moment forever.
The words that rang through my head seemed to come from the very depths of my heart. The place that was filled with thoughts and feelings about Kat. A place that I'd only recently discovered, and now was already beginning to rule my mind and my life. Not that I minded, this time with Kat had been some of the happiest times of my life.
"No. Let's just stay here for a little while longer." I breathed.
Her returning smile was contagious, filled with sweet and pure happiness, as her arms clutched my shoulders and she nestled her head against my chest, resting right against my heart. I let my head rest against hers and closed my eyes, her scent and the music surrounding me in the total perfection of the moment.
By the time we finally stopped dancing, and left the room, the majority of the hotel was quiet. As we walked into the entrance hall, I felt a cool breeze blowing through, a strong floral scent filling the room. I looked towards the direction the fresh air was coming from, and saw a set of double doors were open, leading out to a small patio. Golden fairy lights lit up an entire collection of beautiful roses in all colours.
"Come with me." I said, squeezing Kat's small hand and pulling her with me, leading her towards the doors.
The moment I stepped out onto the decking, I heard Kat's gasp behind me.
"Wow!"
Mentally, I'd made the same exclamation myself. The view was even better than I thought it would be. The decking looked out over a large and vibrant garden. The sound of running water drew my attention to a stunning water fountain in amongst huge rose bushes, all twinkling in the dark from the webs of fairy lights that were draped over them. Above the picturesque garden, the inky blue sky was decorated with glowing silver stars, they stretched as far as I could see, not a single cloud lingering there to cover them from view. Just a never ending collection of the gemstones from the heavens. I felt Kat lean against me once more, breathing out a small sigh.
"This is the perfect end to tonight." She whispered.
I turned to face her, seeing the stars reflected in the near blackness of her eyes.
"Not quite. I think there's one more thing needed to make it perfect." I replied, winding my arm around her waist and leaning in.
My gaze flicked between her eyes and her soft lips, my own parting slightly as desire began to flare inside me.
"What would that be?" She breathed, the tension rising around us to the point of crackling in the air like electricity.
"This." I whispered, my lips gently brushing over hers.
The soft warmth of her delicate lips was the spark that turned my insides into a roaring inferno of need. Before I even knew it, I'd backed her into the trellis that lined the wall, my hands roaming over her body and my tongue exploring her mouth, tasting the intoxicating cocktail of her and the champagne that she'd been drinking. The deeper our kiss became, the more control I lost. I could feel my arousal building along with the rapidly growing bulge in my boxers. I fought to break away from her, and glanced back into the entrance hall, my eyes falling on the reception desk where a middle aged blonde woman sat at a computer screen, typing away. A pair of winged, elegant glasses sat on her nose and she looked as sharp as they come. I took a small calming breath, trying to redirect my mind away from the thoroughly impure thoughts that were racing through my brain, I straightened Kat's dress and lead her back inside.
Coming to a stop at the desk, the receptionist looked up at me. Her stormy grey eyes were magnified behind the glass, shimmering like moonstones in the lighting from the chandelier above us.
"Good evening, how can I help you?" She greeted us warmly.
"Good evening," I smiled, ignoring the way her eyes instantly swept over me, lingering a moment longer than necessary.
"I'd like a room for the night please."
As her eyes caught on Kat, they narrowed slightly. I glanced to my side and noticed the intensely cold glare that she was giving the woman. I was a little shocked, but at the same time, I was loving every second. I reached out, wrapping my arm around her back and resting my hand on her shoulder.
"Be a nice kitty." I whispered teasingly.
I saw her cheeks turn a soft pink as she realised that I'd seen her staring daggers at the receptionist.
"I'm sorry but all of the rooms are full. Many guests decided to stay after the charity event this evening." She said cooly, adopting a more pompous professionalism and sitting up straighter. "We only have a couple of suites available." She finished.
It was clear from her new attitude, that she was trying to be difficult and presuming that this was enough to get rid of us. I found it rather amusing, and had to fight the laugh that was bubbling up in my chest. Seems Kit Kat could put the frighteners on people easily.
Should have guessed that really.
I reached into my jacket pocket, and pulled out my wallet.
"Thanks, that'll do fine." I said, sliding my card across the desk.
The look on her face was priceless as she took it and began to process the transaction.
Turning back to Kat, I leant in close, my lips almost touching her ear as I teasingly whispered:
"Was little Kitty Kat getting a touch possessive just then?"
I dodged the elbow that she tried to knock me in the ribs with, and chuckled softly.
"No, jackass." She muttered, trying to sound angry, but not managing to pull it off.
"Don't lie to me Kitty, it could get you into trouble." I smirked, my eyes locked with hers, "Besides, I found it rather sexy. I hope that suite is nearby, because I'm struggling to resist tearing that dress off of you right now."
Her lips parted as she exhaled sharply, her skin flushing that lovely soft pink again. I winked in response and collected my card that the receptionist was just sliding back towards me.
"You are booked into the Jewel Suite." She said, before proceeding to tell us the directions to the room.
The moment the lights went on, the entire room was bathed in a warm and welcoming glow. The walls were painted in golden and cream tones, with dark wooden furniture and plush white carpets. An extra large bed was situated in the middle of the room, its sheets matching the rooms colour schemes, with a luxurious, shimmering gold throw laying, neatly folded, across the bottom of the bed. I pulled Kat across the threshold, and swung the door closed, pushing her against the wall and pinning her hands above her head as my lips crashed onto hers. I finally had her all to myself, and I was going to enjoy every single second.
