He was telling the truth. He did give the real Dragonslayer to the Dragon Hunters, and it was not his fault that the Dragon Hunters failed to keep it.
Even though he did leak the news to the Huang clan, which indirectly caused the immediate ambush, he did not leak the news to the spies from the Huang clan on purpose.
