Chapter 19. The good Samaritan
It came as a big shock to me as I really didn't foresee it.
He was held on ransom as he was begging for his life. This was the guy that held me up from the ground and took me to my car when I was been beaten by those bullies and now he was begging for his life and he was being mocked. What was the cause of it? I couldn't tell, but I believe he had gotten into something really bad.
I stayed closely monitoring the situation and I found out that he was a cocaine trader. He was selling cocaine to the students of the school. He was the errand boy, but something came up and he wasn't able to recuperate the money he was meant to receive after delivery. I mean that was what I concluded from the little information I got from their discussion.
They were gathered around him and mocking him while he was begging for mercy. They weren't ready to listen to his pleas. All they needed was their money and they couldn't let him be since he wasn't able to pay.
As I watch from my car, I found out that I had some money in my car. But from the way he was been beaten, it looked like he was owing much more than what I had with me. So I decided to stay in my car and I watched them. Some were passing cocaine sachets around. Some were sniffing and licking it with huge smiles of satisfaction on their faces and I could tell, that they were enjoying themselves as if they were in a high spirit.
I looked at the dude on the ground and for the first time in my life, I felt compassionate for someone. Perhaps, it was because he helped me back then. Still. I shrugged off the feeling and watch keenly. They were all laughing, jesting, while he was rolling on the dusty ground begging for help. That was so pathetic.
Suddenly, one of them brought out a gun. Fuck! The pistol had a silencer on it. Damn! You needed to see the boy, he crawled and he stood up on his knees crying and begging them to spare his life. And the dude with the gun was just smiling like nothing could change his mind.
Then he ordered him to get up. When he did, he asked the others to search him, and seize any valuable item, found on him. Immediately, they searched him. They found his credit card and some bundles of cash. He tried to resist them as a real man in vain the gun was pointing at his forehead.
They collected it from him and handed it over to the guy holding the pistol. From the look of things, the gang leader was the guy with a pistol. “Haha, kneel, coward,” he said as he pulled the trigger and Immediately after he did that, they all left the place.
I stayed in my car and watched as the scene unfolded. It was terrifying. I was still shivering in my car when they all left. Damn! It was scary and fascinating.
When they all left, I looked at the guy through the window of my car and he was laying in a pool of blood. Suddenly, something got my attention, he wasn't yet dead. He was between life and death. I didn't realise when I opened the car door and ran to him.
I just found myself, taking off his T-SHIRT, tearing it and trying it around his shoulder. He was lucky, the bullet didn't get to his chest, it just brushed off his shoulder.
I carried him to my car, placed him in the back seat and drove speedily to my house. This was the first time I was doing such a thing, so I compressed my feelings and I acted boldly.
I drove above the allocated speed limit. It was a very bizarre experience. Weirdly I somehow loved the adrenaline rush… and in a few minutes, I got home…
The back seats were filled with blood as I carried him in my arms like a bride to my room and blood was dripping on the floor to the stairs until we reach the room. I lay him in bed and I rushed to search for the First Aid box.
Thankfully, I saw the cleaner on my way back to the room and I asked him to help me take care of the mess on the floor, before my parents return with that, I ran back to my room.
Surprisingly, the person whom I had just dropped in my room wasn't there anymore. I stood there confused, I couldn't fathom what had just happened. Then I heard someone coughing, I knew my siblings and my nanny wasn't at home.
I listened carefully and discovered that it was coming from my bad room. I opened it gently and behold, there he was on the floor gasping and unable to breathe.
With the first aid kits, I did the best I could, and when I was done.
He was already asleep. I was very afraid, how could someone sleep in such a situation? Wasn't he feeling the pains? I concluded to myself, that he must be a hardened criminal. Or perhaps he was dead.
However, I carried him back to bed.
I was perplexed but I had to tidy up my room before my sibling's arrival. After that, I cleaned myself. Then I covered him and went downstairs to get something to eat. In the kitchen. I took a soda with a harm bugger and headed back to my room.
When I got to my room, he was already awake. Immediately he saw me, he became afraid. He stood up and wanted to jump through the window but I ran after him and pinned him to the wall. “Where do you think, you are going to?" I frowned.
He was jittering, “Can you talk?” shouted at him. He kept quiet, as his eyes travelled around my room. He pulled my hands away from his shoulders and said to me “I have something to reveal to you, and what I am about to tell you, will forever change your life" he was shivering as well as his voice.
I laughed when he said that. There was nothing that he could tell me that could affect my life. Anyway, that was what I thought. “What could that be?” I asked ruthlessly.
“A life-changing, formula. With the little money that you will collect from your parents and my economy, we can join hands and make much money, so much money that no one will ever dare humiliate us” Smith said.
“Well, spill it out, I am listening. And hope it's worth it" I replied, as I freed him. “Not until you do something for me," he said. “Haha, you must be crazy!” I laughed but he looked very serious. That impelled me to stop laughing as I seriously asked “And what is that?".
"Are you interested?" he asked again. “Yeah, I am" I replied he started speaking about a lot of things that changed my life. We ended up with a handshake. Immediately after we shake hands, I heard someone clear his/her throat from behind us.
We both shuddered in fear as we veered to catch a glimpse of who it was. Damn it! I was Nanny Clara. It seemed like she had been there for a long with her phone in her hands like she was video tapping us.
Confidently she walked in yelling at him “Hey, you, get out of her and don't ever come back here". He quickly ran out of my room and out of the house.
"Your parents will hear of this, Xavier” she grinned maliciously as she slowly moved towards me meanwhile I had been avoiding her for months. I even begged my parents to send her away because I was mature enough to have a nanny. To my greatest surprise, my parents agreed with me but they didn't send her away instead they promoted them to the head of staff of the whole house.
"Hear of what?" I asked feigning ignorance. “Hear of this, of course,” she said and lifted her phone to the air, showing off my conversation with him but she quickly ended the video and stared at me malevolently. That was freaking, I knew that if that got to my parents, it would have destroyed my life and I couldn't bare that risk.
“Please, don't do that, I would do anything you want me to do but please don't show them that" I begged and she laughs asking “Are you sure that you are ready to do whatever I want?" she sounded sensual. “Yes, I can" I replied but deep down I was cursing myself.
“Well, you just have to do one thing for me, and trust me, it's very easy. If you do it then I promise you that your parents won't know about this," she said. “What is this one thing, you are talking about?" I asked practically cutting her short.
“Don't bother, It's, just…”
My heart was pounding anxiously......
