Chapter 33 - The Bar
CELESTINA VILLARAMA'S POV
At the very moment that we stepped foot inside our pack house, I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion since no one had their eyes fixed on us. A pack warrior from the opposing pack was with us, and yet no one bothered to react, which was kind of unusual. It was as if Ace's presence wasn't sensed by all of them.
"Are you hiding your scent or are you invisible to their vision?" I couldn't contain my curiosity any longer, so I asked him as we proceeded to walk towards the center of the lobby of our mansion.
Ace chuckled, covering his mouth with his left fist, which was formed into a tight ball. "You can't be serious..." he murmured before he stopped laughing. "Did you really think that I'd barge in here without informing Alpha Lucas?"
I gasped at the realization that he managed to persuade that strict alpha of ours to let him in. "It can't be helped, Ace. After all, I believe that Alpha Lucas doesn't want to let me near anyone from your pack, thinking that I might end up betraying him," I said with a shrug of my shoulders.
"That's only applicable to Alpha Siege and his brother. There's no dispute between Alpha Lucas and the rest of us as long as we don't create any offensive moves against him," Ace replied to assure me that I should worry about nothing during his whole stay here. "Let's go to the bar." He invited us, causing Ice to intervene.
"Bar? Do you mean that place where everyone's conscience is completely dried out because of alcohol?" Ice asked him with a hint of worry in his tone, and Ace answered with a nod. "No, we're not going there. You could trick Celestina with your words, but that won't work on me, Ace." He crossed his arms in front of his chest.
"I wasn't asking for your opinion, Ice," Ace coldly said to the delta as he gave him a death glare. "Let's go, Miss Celestina Villarama," he called for me, gesturing to me to follow him around and leave Ice behind.
I noticed how much it was a hassle for him to keep addressing me in a lengthy manner, so I told him to just call me by my name instead, just like Ice does.
A few minutes went by, and we reached the spot where there were a lot of people who were already wasted. If I were still in my world, I would've thought that they were normal humans who were just out partying the best of their lives or crying their hearts out.
"If you're going to put her life at risk, I'll never think of you as someone I know," Ice seriously said before he sat down on the stool near the corner of the VIP room.
"You're too cold!" I gently smashed my palm on his back to lessen the tension between the two of them. “What am I supposed to do here, Ace? Get drunk with the two of you?” I faked a laugh, sitting right beside Ice. I was in between their spots.
Ace stood up to prepare a drink for me. He put some ice in the cocktail glass where he poured one ounce of gin, compari, and sweet vermouth. Then, he garnished it with an orange twist and gave me the signal to grab it.
Ice also prepared his own drink. He poured half an ounce of dry vermouth and two and a half ounces of vodka into a mixing glass that was already filled with ice cubes. After some time of mixing it, he strained it into a chilled Martini cocktail glass. With the finishing touch of a lemon peel twisted in it.
"I'm..." I gulped, looking at both of the glasses that they served me. I don't have a high alcohol tolerance, so I’m kind of discouraged about drinking it.
A soft smile curled on Ace’s lips. “Don’t worry, we didn’t pour any poison there,” he said.
“I wasn't even thinking about that!” I held on to both of the glasses, contemplating whether I could actually digest them. “Can you swear that you won’t do anything indecent to me if ever I get drunk?”
The twins nodded simultaneously, which made me sigh as I finally made up my mind to gulp the drinks in one shot. I firmly winced as I tasted its different flavors.
“I’m done. Is that the trial?” I wiped off the excess liquid that dripped off of my lips with the back of my hand.
Ace shook his head. Some strands of his hair were covering his eyes, and I had this urge to brush it up. “No one gets drunk from a single shot, Celestina,” he replied with a tiny smirk, swiftly catching another glass from his brother. “It would be more fun to have a taste of all of these, right?” he asked us, referring to the bottles of alcohol behind him.
I was stunned to see the connection between them, knowing that they weren’t on good terms as of now. “So that really was your intention from the start," I commented.
About half an hour passed with me just drinking here and there. The two didn’t even bother to have a taste of whatever they’re making.
My head began to feel light-weight; it kept banging back and forth. The surroundings began to get blurry for my eyesight as my vision turned around like I was spinning.
Unconsciously, I smiled widely at the same time that I held onto both Ice and Ace’s shoulders, who were back in their seats beside me. I sensed that both of them glanced my way, so I couldn’t suppress my laughter.
“I think she’s already drunk, Ace," Ice worriedly said, grabbing my hand as he pushed it away from his shoulder. “We should call it a day,” he added.
Ace shook his head. “That won’t happen.” Ace stood up, picking up my arm to wrap it around his waist. “We’re yet to go to the exciting part of this trial—getting Celestina drunk was just the beginning.”
