Chapter 66 - The Stealth
CELESTINA VILLARAMA'S POV
Each and every single one of our footsteps had no sound. I was trying my best not to place Kris in a tight spot, so I was the one who took the lead, even though I wasn't quite familiar with this place.
Even so, the beta made sure that I was going in the right direction and wasn't bound to get lost. He kept on telling me which way to go; he warned me about the spots where pack guards were on patrol; and he also told me about the blind spots where it was the safest to cross.
I initially thought that Kris wouldn't be this obedient. It's as if he was also hurt by the fact that his brother got someone else impregnated other than his rightful mate, and it was Kris' sole motivation as to why he made up his mind to help me with my plan.
"I think we're near," I mumbled to myself, catching a glimpse of a spot where I used to hang out with Ace. I finally got to breathe comfortably, thinking that I had crossed the most difficult hurdle.
We entered the pack's mansion through a hidden door, which brought us to the training hall. No one was in sight.
Kristoffer held my wrist all of a sudden, then pulled me behind him. "Hush, don't make a sound," he warned as he placed his index finger in front of his lips to force me to keep my mouth shut. "Someone is coming. I didn't think that there was anyone else other than me who knew this route," he whispered, glancing at our surroundings, trying to find out who was bound to show himself or herself.
I squinted my eyes, trying to look at whoever it was that came out of the room, only to find out that it was Siege.
"I have to go to him. Can you keep your scent away for a few minutes? I'll give you some sort of signal once you're free to wander," Kris said, releasing his grip on my wrist.
Knowing that the situation might escalate into something worse than being detected by the alpha, I had no choice but to nod my head and let the beta go and meet up with Siege.
"Where have you been? I didn't sense you in here," Siege confusingly asked, turning his head around the entire place to make sure that no one was around. "Were you jerking yourself off here?" he laughed.
As his voice echoed through the training hall, I could feel my ears getting hot just by hearing his laugh. I had to tightly pinch my arm just to stop myself from thinking whatever I was thinking.
Master Kristoffer faked a cough to make it seem like he was caught. "You know me too well, Siege."
The beta clung his arm around the alpha's shoulders, facing the other way. As they were on the way to the door, I noticed Kris' other hand, where his thumb was slightly raised.
I heaved out a deep breath, thinking that it was time for me to begin my infiltration. I had to follow the siblings first before I decided to go upstairs. "Where the heck is that woman hiding herself?" I mumbled, thinking about the possible places that she'd be.
If I were Stella and I'm about to be hailed as the pack's Luna, I would surely be on cloud nine and would be coped up, preparing for the ceremony and practicing a few lines for my speech.
I almost shrieked the moment that I sensed someone approaching from downstairs. I looked around the hallway, and there weren't any vacant spaces where I could possibly hide. So I clenched my fists to get ready in case they would attack me.
"C-Celeste, it's me," Kris stuttered as he covered his face with his hands.
"Sorry, I thought it was someone else. What happened to Siege? Why are you here? Did he say anything about me?" I consecutively asked the beta.
Kris shook his head. "Siege still didn't figure out that I got in together with you. He's on his way to eat with your sister. I heard that tonight would be the last practice for the Luna ceremony," he answered with a troubled expression. "From how he's acting, I can say that he's content with having Stella as his Luna. He might even announce that she's his chosen mate. You have to move quickly if you don't want to lose him for good, Celeste," he added.
I raised my clenched fist in front of my chest to feel how fast my heart was throbbing. "I can't lose Siege to Stella, not in this lifetime," I confidently said.
We decided to team up in the meantime. We had to discuss our plan in a room that was left unused until only twenty minutes were left until the last practice for the event began. Our lives wouldn't be this complicated if the curse wasn't here to start with. Sarina could've just lifted the curse, but she wouldn't allow me to have such an easy win.
"Are you ready?" Kris asked me as we were on the way downstairs. "You have to face Siege, and I'll be the one to take care of Stella. Once the two of you are alone, convince him the best you can, understand?"
I nodded. "If your plan works, I'll owe you one." I grinned before I parted ways with him as soon as we reached the lobby.
There were a lot of them gathered in the lobby, even though this was only supposed to be a practice event. Maybe they're just going to fill in the roles of the guests who would be present at the actual ceremony.
The lights went off when the clock struck exactly eight in the evening. It was replaced with a single spotlight that illuminated the center, awaiting the two.
Cheers went wild when Stella showed herself. She was wearing a long, white gown that had thick layers of fabric on the position of her legs. Her cleavage was clearly exposed because of how tight the dress was.
"I appreciate all of you for being here. This would be the last one, I swear. The Crimson Moon Pack would finally have a strong and independent Luna who would never dare to abandon the pack itself," Stella loudly declared without the use of a microphone. "This would be the beginning of..."
I no longer paid attention to my sister's speech as I was busy trying to look for the alpha in the crowd with little to no source of light. The next minute was intended for Siege's appearance, but he was nowhere to be found.
"Siege, where are you?" I muttered as I continuously walked across the mass of people who were endlessly giving a round of applause for their soon-to-be Luna.
A large pair of hands grabbed my waist from behind, causing me to feel tense. I wanted to turn around to confirm who held me, but I couldn't. The man held me strongly, letting my feet be stuck on the floor.
"Who are you? What do you want from me?" I asked, trying to sound like I was ready to kick his balls anytime. "Let go of me while I'm still asking nicely. You can easily pin me in this position, but you have no power to prevent me from screaming."
The man's left hand roamed the insides of my shirt, making me feel hot inside. For some reason, I didn't want him to stop.
"This alone is enough to make me shut your mouth, Celestina," the man whispered to my ear, making me feel his hot breath.
My eyes widened the moment I realized who it was. "Siege!" I held both of his wrists before he could move away from me.
