Chapter 69 - The Hatred
CELESTINA VILLARAMA'S POV
The two of us didn't waste a single minute. Lucas told me to hurry up and catch up to his speed, as he had his limbs enhanced to make full use of his agility. We didn't really have a proper discussion about what we should do after we arrived at the Crimson Moon Pack. We only wanted to make Siege and the rest of them feel intimidated by our presence.
Lucas said that I shouldn't falter when I'm about to announce the declaration of war if either Siege or Stella still refuse to take the Luna ceremony down.
I informed him about the path I took with Kris, and it was supposed to be the only peaceful way for us to cross to the other side, but I was mistaken.
"There are guards all over the gates, Celestina. I didn't think that the security would be that tight. Siege never cared about that before," Lucas mumbled as he stopped his tracks to observe the pack house from afar.
I raised one of my eyebrows in confusion. "They weren't there earlier. Is it possible that Siege ordered them to guard all of the possible pathways to stop me from coming back?" I bit my fingernail out of frustration.
Lucas nodded his head, telling me that it was the only probable explanation. "Isn't there any other way for us to sneak inside?" he asked, and I only shook my head as a response. "Then, we have no choice left other than to face them head-on."
I heaved out a loud sigh. "We stand no chance against them, Lucas. We're only two, and they are definitely more than a hundred. There are more warriors hidden inside, and I doubt that Siege would let us slide so easily," I said, turning him down.
We could no longer continue with our conversation when I sensed an upcoming bullet that was bound to reach us. I immediately pushed Lucas over to the other side, causing me to stumble on the ground with my head protected with both of my hands.
A few seconds later, the two of us glanced our way to the tree that had a silver bullet pierced on its branch.
"That was close," Lucas uttered. "Thanks for that. Your senses are getting keener than before." He brushed the dirt from his shirt off of him, crouching.
"They already detected us, Lucas. We have to move to another spot," I said, standing up, but the alpha prevented me from going.
"We're not going to solve this problem if we're just going to keep running away from it, Celestina," Lucas meaningfully muttered. "Let's go down and deal with all of them. We can defeat them; they're just pack guards and warriors. I'm the alpha of the Silver Moon Pack; it would be a huge humiliation if you'd see me getting defeated by those lowly creatures."
The alpha still hasn't given up trying to persuade me, so I have made up my mind to just go along with him, considering that he has a point.
As soon as we showed ourselves from the spot where we hid, all of them were on alert as they pointed their respective weapons at us as we continuously walked down the path.
I wasn't afraid that their silver bullets or whatever they had would pierce right through my heart, since Siege assured me that I wasn't affected by those.
Raising both of my hands, I gestured a surrender pose. "I'm not here to fight with you. Just let me talk with Siege for—"
"Show respect to the alpha!" One of the guards cut me off as he hit me with the edge of his gun instead of shooting. "You're prohibited from entering the pack house until the Luna ceremony is over. That's what Alpha Siege told all of us," he said.
I winced in pain. They definitely know that I'm prone to silver, so they had no intention of shooting me at all. Maybe that bullet from earlier was meant to be shot at Lucas.
"I refuse to believe your words. You're just a pack guard; your statements wouldn't hold any authority," I said without removing my gaze from him, so that he would feel that I wasn't scared of him at all. "Grab both of my wrists if you want. You can even tie me with ropes if you must. Just bring me over to where Alpha Siege is!"
I briefly glanced at Lucas, and he was giving me some sort of signal that I should attack the guard in front of me while he was still unwary. But I couldn't bring myself to do as he said, thinking that the pack guard would be kind enough to abide by my request and let me see Siege.
But that was a mere fantasy.
The guards ganged up on me as they continuously beat me up with their fists. They didn't even care that I was a woman.
"Celestina!" Lucas yelled my name, and I saw him fighting the rest of the warriors who chose him, since I was already trapped with these huge men surrounding me. "Damn all of you. If you don't stop hitting on her, I'll fucking kill all of you right here and now! Don't you know who I am?" he desperately provoked them, but none of them listened to him.
"You're the weakest werewolf that has been given the title of alpha. Is there anything else that's worth knowing about you, Lucas?" a warrior replied to Lucas, discriminating against his strength and his existence itself.
I could no longer contain the hatred that was building up inside my chest. If I just stay in this spot while listening to them ridicule Lucas, I will probably lose my sanity and create a massacre outside the pack house.
"You should have never been born, Lucas. You're not fit to be an alpha. If you were a rogue, maybe everyone would've looked up to you," said the same warrior.
I stretched out my right leg to sweep all of those that covered my way, making them lose their balance and fall flat on the ground. Most of them tried to catch my foot, but they were slow.
"Lucas, don't listen to them. You know that you would just be wasting your energy if you released your rage now just because of them," I said to make the warriors pissed as much as Lucas was.
The alpha momentarily sipped air with a slight parting of his lips. He had to aggressively slap himself to make himself calm down. "I was about to go insane," he whispered to himself.
I stood beside him, and the two of us had our clenched fists ready for an attack. And when the guards and warriors began to strike, I had to be cautious of Lucas as well, since they might suddenly pierce a silver bullet in his heart, which might be the end of him.
Ten minutes passed by, and we were still in the midst of an unending brawl. They didn't give up; their numbers just kept on increasing, and we were already running out of breath.
"It would be best for you to surrender, Celestina. You'd really die at this point if you continued this," a man's familiar voice muttered from the crowd of the pack warriors. "I don't want to hurt you as much as possible, but if it's what the alpha wants, then I have no choice. So please, just leave for tonight and let them finish their ceremony," he added.
Looking around the area while avoiding the blows from them, I caught a glimpse of Ace. I have completely forgotten about the fact that Ace was also one of the Crimson Moon Pack's warriors.
