When I then had to watch them kiss, I flinched and only because Cody gently touched my arm was I able to take my eyes off the two of them again.
"Are you okay?" the brown-haired man with the short curly hair asked me and I nodded at him with wide eyes. Don't look into the living room again, I told myself, concentrating as hard as I could on Cody to prove to myself that I wasn't just running away.
"Would you like something to drink?" he asked and after I nodded again, he walked ahead of me into the kitchen, where only Micah was to be found, who somehow didn't seem so happy otherwise.
"What's going on?" I asked him immediately, stepping close to him and he mumbled something I couldn't understand.
"The piercccccsccccching," he lisped, and I suddenly had to laugh so hard you'd think the whole house would hear it.
"You really wanted it that way," I scolded him, amused. "Did you buy that mouthwash?"
"Upstairs in the bathroom," he said softly, and I immediately left them to bring him the stuff that I hoped would help.
Of course, I had to look closely into Kiyan's eyes as I made my way to the stairs, but I turned away from him hurt and hastily took step by step, then ran to the small bathroom.
While I was busy looking for the mouthwash, Kiyan apparently made it his business to have to explain himself to me.
"Mia," I heard him next to me, but skillfully I ignored him. I didn't want to look him in the eye and was glad to have finally found this stuff.
"Listen," he grabbed my shoulders as I tried to pass him and I did what he asked and paused. "It's not what you think it is. I don't want to hurt you and I can't give you what you deserve."
I suppressed my anger and everything else and just looked at him coldly. "And you're telling me something about giving people opinions? Then why don't you just say that you love your girlfriend and you just like playing with me?" I shot back and immediately his look changed and he let go of my shoulders to take a step to the side.
"I don't love her and I certainly don't play with you. I can't explain it to you but believe me, you're the last one I want to hurt," he said brokenly, but I didn't let him wrap me up again.
"You hurt me already," I whispered, immediately avoiding his gaze before quickly making my way down the stairs to the kitchen.
Cody and Micah were still standing there, just like before, and it seemed like time had stood still down here. I just made a mental note to focus on Micah and his speech impediment, so I gave him the foul-smelling mouthwash and watched with Cody as he sloshed the stuff into his mouth over the sink and almost threw up afterwards .
I was really sorry that I was so amused by all this, but I also knew that Micah wouldn't blame me. Somehow I also knew that something like this would happen and had warned him sufficiently about it.
"Who do we have here? Babsi and Freaky reunited?" Zayn then came into the kitchen and poured more alcohol into his mug.
"Babsi? How resourceful," I rolled my eyes and looked over at Cody, who seemed quite nervous.
"Well, babysitter is hard to pronounce," Zayn said with a grin, at which Cody gave him an amused look.
"I even believe you that it's difficult for you," he suddenly laughed and I had to laugh unintentionally, until Zayn then banged on the table and seriously glared at us.
"Don't you have anything better to do? Some nerd stuff or something? You make me lose the desire to party."
"You go discover the fire first," Cody said and I didn't understand what he meant by that, but I had to laugh again at his stupid grin.
"Little bitch," Zayn growled at me, taking his mug and just as he was about to go, Micah grabbed his jacket and pushed him against the wall.
I watched wide-eyed as Zayn and Micah locked eyes with hate and then ran over to Micah to pull his arm away from Zayn.
"Leave it alone Micah, please," I said softly, feeling my heart pounding wildly. No one would fight because of me here. He should say bitch, I knew I wasn't one and I didn't give a damn what he thought of me anyway.
"Be careful who you mess with," Zayn said menacingly at Micah, gently pushing him away. I just wanted that bastard to go away and by God I wouldn't let Juline get his number.
"What's going on here?" Kiyan came into the kitchen and I had to take a deep breath not to implode from sheer stress.
"Micah is mad because I insulted his little girlfriend and the nerd," Zayn said proudly, standing next to Kiyan in amusement, who didn't even say anything about it. He caught my eye, then turned to Zayn and dragged him out of the kitchen after him. What kind of person was he when his friends were around? It saddened me that I was wrong about him.
"He... He shhlled shhhhow-"
"Yeah, he shouldn't be saying that to me, I know, but even less would I want you to fight over me," I interrupted Micah's mumbling, then smiled warmly at him. "And thanks anyway."
