Chapter 40 Last minute booking

They were asked to wait until 10am before they could check in. Derick checked the time, it was 8:00 so they only had two more hours to wait.

They remained in the reception lounge having nowhere else to go. The hotel staff, because of their waiting customers, quickly tidied up the room so their guests could move in instead of waiting for long. It wasn’t their usual check-in time, but they had to make an exception as Joana and Derick had seen the whole ruckus the angry customer caused, it was their way of persuading them not to tell anyone and pretending it never happened.

Derick looked at Joana, who had already started dozing off in the couch, he hoped they would be done on time, as he was already beginning to suppress the urge to doze off too.

At exactly 9:30, they were called to check in.

“How much is it?” Derick asked the receptionist who was arranging the payment.

“It’s 4,000 CNY per night, for the master’s suite,” she said curtly.

He had no idea how much was its equivalent in dollars, but he didn’t care, so long as he got a place to sleep, as he and Joana were already worn out from being in the sun so long.

Derick handed her a Chinese bank card Dana had given to him before he left. Like she knew they would need a hotel.

After he was billed, she led them inside and through the hotel courtyard to their room, they had to be careful not to walk too close to the outside portion for fear of being seen by the sun.

The outside view of the Hwang’s residence might have looked historical, but the inside was great and had a modern touch to it. It was a boutique hotel and all the rooms were in fours at the edges of the courtyard. Most of the room doors were open were for cleaning, so they could see what went on before getting to theirs, they were fully renovated, and had a lot of decorative features, ranging from ancient carved wooden window frames and timber structural elements to bamboo flooring, and rice paper ceilings.

The carvings and sculptures of the walls also depicted the beautiful culture and the ancient history of the province.

Joana looked around and then wondered why the customer complained so harshly about them, this place was beautiful. Oh well, you can’t please everybody in life.

She thought she had seen it all until she entered her room. This hotel was just in the middle of a small town, but yet looked way better than the one they were paying a fortune for in the city.

“If you need anything, please do not hesitate to call the reception. There is a telephone on the bedside table,” the receptionist said, still waiting at the entrance for whatever the guests had to tell her.

“Thank you,” Derick told her. “You may be excused.”

With that, she bowed politely and left the room, leaving Derick and Joana alone.

The time spent waiting and the awe of the hotel she had seen had made her forget about what she was worried about before she came here. But now that she was alone with Derick, she remembered what she feared.

Derick locked the door and took off his shirt revealing his sexy abs, she began to drool upon seeing them, she knew he was pretending as if nothing was happening. Why was he doing this to her? It was like he always wanted to punish her.

After taking off his shirt, he walked towards the window and began to close all the curtains, blocking every form of sunlight that tried to penetrate the room. That was the first thing we should have done, Joana pondered, before returning to her sinful thoughts.

“I know you might be uncomfortable sleeping beside me, you can have the bed if it makes you feel better, I’ll sleep on the couch,” he said to her after closing the windows.

“It doesn’t, I can’t let you sleep on a couch,” she wanted to say that she’d still feel uncomfortable either way, but thought better of it, she didn’t want her words to haunt her later in the future.

“Ok, if you say so,” he then strode towards the large bed, began to get on top of it and pushed the covers away, before closing his eyes.

She felt the need to take a bath, as she thought it was the only thing that would prevent her from running to where he lay, taking off all her clothes and making love to him right there.

“I’m going to take a bath,” she said to him.

She went into the bathroom and locked the door, before beginning to take her clothes off. She entered into the bath tub completely naked, trying to analyze the situation. She tried to see if she could read his thoughts, but he wasn’t close enough for her, she wondered how he would be doing lying on that bed, laying there knowing that all he wanted was just a few steps away from him, all he had to do was knock.

‘So, if he knocked, you would really open and let him see you like this?’ The reasonable side of her asked, scolding her.

‘Of course, I wouldn’t,’ she responded to herself.

Oh good, she was already running mad.

Ugh, why were things so complicated? She asked herself in frustration, why had they forgotten to take the vamscren along? And why didn’t the hotel have one more spare room?

These were questions she knew answers to, but somehow couldn’t answer.

It took a lot of self-control for her to get into this bathroom, and she wouldn’t make the same mistake she did with him some nights ago. She had come here on a quest, to see the black dragon, and not to have sex with him or anything like that. If that was the reason he insisted on following her here, then she was sorry to disappoint him. There would be no lovemaking for any of them tonight, or today rather, and if it meant she was going to remain in this bathtub all day, then she would.

After a long while of battling with her stupidity, she decided to take a bath she had come here for and then come out.

After she had her bath, she put on the robe that the hotel provided, none of them came with any extra clothes so she would leave the ones she brought in the bathroom until she was ready to wear them to go out again.

She came out of the bathroom door, and met Derick on the bed where she left him, he had already gone to sleep.

Yay for him, here he was dozing off while she had been in the bathtub for almost an hour trying to stop her cunt from running there to have babies with him.

She forgot herself while looking at him, and let go of the hold she had on the bathroom door. The sound of the door hitting against the frame woke Derick with a startle, and he opened his eyes to meet her standing at the bathroom door, looking at him.
