Don't wanna get married

Liliana's pov :

"I hate you, dad!" Without waiting for his response, I ran to my room and didn't stop until I was in my room and locked my door.

Why was my life so miserable? Whenever I felt that my life was on a good track and I was happy, something nasty happened and it destroyed my happiness.

Didn't I have the right to be happy and have a lover who loved me with all his heart? Why was I the daughter of that wealthy man who just cared about money? My dad never cared about me but I didn't know that he never cared about my feelings and heart at all.

When you start questioning your existence, you become the most hopeless person in the world.

I didn't know why I was still living, why didn't my heart stop beating when he gave me two options?! Choosing was nothing but breaking my heart myself. For a millisecond, I wanted to be selfish and choose Jay so I could be happy and Ben could handle his life later.

But as soon as I realised that I could save all the drama by choosing Ben, I just said yes because if I would have chosen Jay, my dad would have arranged the wedding of Ben with someone within two days or maybe he would have done something worse than it.

There was still enough time to change everything. Five days for New Year, and as per my knowledge, Alex would never agree with this engagement. I had to sacrifice my love for my brother but he had no one in his life for whom his dad could blackmail him and he loved his best friend, he would never betray Jay.

That time just because of this thought, I put off that trouble for some time. I didn't expect that from Jay, he neither objected to my decision nor tried to convince me that I didn't have to do that. He simply said that he wouldn't fight for me and left me.

I knew that my words hurt him, and he was taken aback by my surrender. Closing my eyes, I sat on the floor, the back of the door touched my back and I let the tears flow from my eyes that I controlled for a long time.

Soon my cheeks were wet from the pain of my heart which was flowing in the form of tears. I wanted to call Jay and tell him that we would face this shit together but I wasn't sure if he would still want to answer my call after seeing his place in my life after Ben.

Though it wasn't the truth. For me, Ben and Jay were equally important in my life. Could someone love the left eye more than the right eye? It was just like that for me. If my one eye was injured, the other eye would automatically not open wholly. It was as simple as that but the toughest thing to make them understand.

The only person who could make me feel a little better was my best friend. I didn't care about my sobbing, I just called her because I had to tell her everything. She was my only ray of hope, maybe she could give me any advice.

"Fiona! Can...can you co...me to my place?" I uttered as soon as I realized that she had picked up my call.

"Lia! Are you okay? Do you want me to wake up Fiona?" Her mom had received the call, she was concerned about me when my mom didn't even bother to speak a single word when her daughter was being blackmailed by her husband.

It wasn't like she couldn't help me at all. She could ask my dad to change his opinion, it wasn't a big deal for her. Probably she was enjoying the scene because I was in pain. She didn't love me at all, she just loved her sons.

"No! I'm sorry!" I wiped my face off with my hands and started taking deep breaths to overcome my sobbing.

I couldn't hear anything in response so I was about to hang up the call but Fiona's voice stopped me. "Hey, Lia! What happened?"

My voice broke and I couldn't stop crying after listening to her voice. I was feeling so lonely and it was feeling like I had no one who could understand me or cared about me. Hearing her worried voice made me feel that I still had a best friend who was distressed about me.

"Lia, you are scaring me. I'm coming to see you right now."

"No!" I wanted her to be here with me but when I peeked at the clock hanging on my wall, I refused her offer because it was one am. Christmas was gone, giving me the worst memories of a lifetime. "My dad-"

"I know everything, Lia. Barbie told me everything and I'm so sorry about that. Don't worry, sweetheart! We'll find a way soon, we'll meet tomorrow and decide how to bring your dad down!." Her calming voice made me feel a little better.

"Mmm-hmm! I don't want to lose Jay. I love him." Confessing the truth, I bit my quivering lower lip.

"You both love each other and he will never want to lose you either. I'm sure that you guys will survive this and everything will be alright soon. You just need to calm down for tonight and first of all, you'll stop crying. I know that you are a strong girl and you are capable of doing anything."

"Mmm-hmm! You should sleep now. Bye!"

"I love you, Lia. Bye!"

Smiling, I sat on my bed with teary eyes. Being strong was never my choice ever. It was more like I didn't have any other option rather than being strong. I didn't want to be strong in front of everyone anymore, I just couldn't handle it anymore. Deep down, I also wanted to be in someone's arms to feel peace and home but I never got that.

Slowly, I slept on the bed and covered my body with the blanket just to wake up and open the door as I heard a knock on my door.

"You better dress up nicely tomorrow. I have invited Alex and his father for breakfast and I don't want to ruin anything so you should come down at 7 am sharp." My dad roared, he didn't even look at my red eyes.

My father's heart was made of a stone that could feel nothing.

"You could send a servant, why did you bother to come to my room?" I sarcastically taunted him, I didn't even remember when the last time he came to my room?!

Before he could say anything, I just shut the door on his face and locked it before sleeping in my bed again.

I couldn't call Jay but I could text Alex. Taking my phone, I started typing furiously to Alex, "you shouldn't come tomorrow or else I'll kill you."

All I was waiting for the tomorrow morning only to see my dad's drained face when he would hear no from Alex.

When my heart was scared of losing Jay and all I could remember was his hurtful face and sad ocean blue eyes, sleep was the last thing I could do.

I kept changing the sides of my sleeping positions and stared at the clock to reach 6 am. Sighing, I left the bed and walked to my cupboard and started searching for the most tomboyish outfit.

When I finally got an old blue t-shirt and black joggers, I smirked and shoved my ass to the bathroom to take a cold shower.

Within an hour, I finished my morning chores and got ready by making a messy bun with my hands only and putting on a cap.

Descending the stairs, I rolled my eyes when I saw Alex chatting with my dad. He didn't have to come here to say no, he could say no over the phone, too. John was also there to accompany my dad.

What if he forgot to become a devil by any chance? So John would remind him how to become a high-profile devil!. I sighed and rolled my eyes at my thought.

"Hey, Lia!" Alex grinned and rushed over to me.

Frowning, I threw a sarcastic smile at him and everyone else and started walking towards the dining table.

"I had taught you good manners, huh?" My mom shot me a death glare when I didn't greet any of them and started eating an apple, taking it directly from the basket and chewing on it savagely.

"You forgot to teach me how to cut an apple, didn't you?" I spoke with the mouthful of apple and smirked.

"Lia!" She shouted with widened eyes and so much hate in those pretty eyes.

My dad asked the servants to serve breakfast and they started eating their food in silence. When I was ready to give them full classes of drama, they were silent. Sipping my blackberry juice, I looked at Alex who was dressed up in a suit. Overdramatic boy!

"I want to take Lia on a date, may I have your permission, Ian?" Alex asked and I choked on my juice.

Date? Wasn't he here to say no to this engagement? Fuck! He was betraying his friend, I hated him from that moment.

"Yeah, sure!" He nodded and smiled at John.

"You're asking for the wrong person's permission. I'm not used to following anyone's orders, I make my schedule and before you ask me now, let me tell you that I'll never go on a date with a jerk like you!" Announcing my decision, I got up from the chair.

My dad also rose from his seat. "If you are not used to it then get used to it! And you're going on a date with Alex right now. Go and change into something decent!"

John put his opinion, "nothing is wrong with her dress, Ian. You shouldn't scold her, she is so comfortable with her clothes and it's fine!"

"You know what, I agreed to get engaged with this piece of shit on the New Year. Our deal wasn't about going on dates and developing feelings. Don't forget that it's just a deal!" I took my stand and Alex finally took his ass off the chair.

I smirked at him and crossed my arms. He forgot that I wasn't an easy girl who would give up that easily. He grabbed my hand and started dragging me to the hallway.

"I know how to control a woman like you so you don't worry!" He shouted and looked at my dad. "I'll teach her how to obey me!" I

"It wasn't a request, Lia. It was an order for you and from now on, you are mine." He spat with rage and kept dragging me.

I was more than stunned to hear his words and see his cruelty. How could he deceive his best friend? How could he call me his when everyone knew that I belonged to Jay only?!

When I came back to my senses, I realized that he was using his power on me and I was doing nothing but staring at him with disgust.

"Fuck off!" I bit his hand and he instantly took his hand off me.

"Ouch!" He yelled as we reached outside of the mansion and he looked around us to check if someone was watching us!. "I'm sorry, Lia! Get in the car! It's not a safe place to talk."

"Do you think that after hearing your filthy comments, I'll trust you?!" I shrugged and folded my hands.

Alex rolled his eyes and opened the door of his car and pushed me to the seat so I fell on the passenger seat and before I could get off his car, he had started driving already.

"I thought that I would surprise you by taking you directly to the venue but it's pretty dangerous to surprise you. You can kill me midway," he mumbled and grimaced.

"Where are you taking me to?"

"Let me explain, then! Your boyfriend asked me to take you to him and for my behaviour, I apologise but it was Jay's suggestion to behave as arrogant as fuck in front of your dad so he wouldn't feel like I'm taking you out for a purpose."

"And what's your purpose?"

"To take you to Jay! I'm sorry for breaking your heart but the vacancy for my girlfriend's place hasn't started yet. It'll be held after a long time, maybe when you'll be the mommy of two cute kids of Jay," he mocked and came back into his usual nature.

I was scared to death after seeing his ruthless version but I felt relaxed when he started joking. The cool breeze touched my face and soon I fell asleep as I didn't sleep for a second last night.

"Love, you should wake up now. Your destination has arrived." Jay's sweet voice rang in my ears and I slowly opened my eyes, wishing it wasn't a dream.

I touched his face and it wasn't my illusion. Smiling, I hugged him tightly and he picked me up in a bridal style. The only thing I knew was that I slept for a long time and it was already afternoon perhaps.

He stopped at the church and my heart started beating crazily. "Did you kidnap me to get married to me? Are you taking me to the church for our marriage? Have you prepared for our wedding? You didn't even propose to me," I cried out but he just smiled.

I started beating him with my fists. "Put me down! I don't want to get married yet." To my wonder, he put me down without saying anything. Did I do something wrong? Maybe I had hurt his feelings, I shouldn't have stopped him. "I'm sorry! I was just-" before I could complete my sentence, he started walking ahead, and I gave attention to our surroundings.
