Blaze* Oh How God Loves Us
BLAZE*
Vega and Jace looked at each other with hope in their eyes, and they both looked back at me.
"Blaze, I hope that you are right because I want to see both you and Lyra happy. Relationships have always put me off after seeing what has happened to you and Tanner; and what my mom did to my dad. Then I met Vega. She's the best thing that could have ever happened to me. Lyra is an amazing girl, and she is like a sister I never had. She has been hurt as well," Jace said.
"Yes, same here; I want to see you both happy," Vega said with a smile on her face. Then Jace looked at his phone to see the time.
"We're going to need to clean up when we get home, or we'll be late. We should go; church starts in ten minutes," Jace said.
He saw my face as I glanced at the kitchen and the mess on the table.
"It's ok; Vega and I will clean up when we get home. For now, we've got to go," Jace said.
"Ok, let's go in my truck, and I could help clean up once we get back," I said.
"Sounds good to me," they both said in unison.
Weird, but ok, I'll go with it. I thought that was something twins did. Conner and Wade had always done that through the years. My dad and Conner and Wades' dad are twins, and they do that as well. But these two aren't twins, so that is a bit weird.
Vega grabbed her purse that was lying on the table. Turned on the house's alarm, and we all stepped out of the house. She locked up and shut the door. Then we all walked fast to the truck. Jace helped Vega into the truck as I got in and started the truck. Jace climbed into the passenger side and put his seat belt on.
"So, where are we going?" I asked.
"Go up the block and turn left. Go down a couple of blocks, then turn right, and we will be there," Jace said.
"Alrighty, sounds easy," I said as I pulled onto the road.
It only took us three minutes to get there. I was scared we would be late, but the church was pretty close to Vega and Lyra's house. The church was rather beautiful on the outside. It looked like they had a playground towards the back of the church for kids. We all climbed down from my truck and made our way to the door. There were two entrances and two greeters at each door, greeting people as they walked in. It was a friendly gesture, and Jace, Vega, and I enjoyed the attention.
Once we got inside, people came to shake our hands and introduced themselves, like Vega, Jace, and I would do in return. Then a couple that we had built a home for recently found us and came over. They gushed about their home and about how they loved it. Then they helped us to the main room.
Rows of chairs lined the room, the color of velvet. The couple we had built the home for said we could sit with them, so we followed them and took our seats. A band played worship music on the stage, which made things so much more laid back; I was expecting someone would be playing piano and a choir, I guess. You know, what you see in the movies, I could get used to this.
VEGA*
Everyone is so friendly here; a couple came up to us once we walked in the door and told us about bible study. They have a class for college students. So I think next week we will go to that class. I guess that's an excellent way to learn about The Lord.
I am completely ignorant when it comes to all things religious. Buddhists raised Lyra and me, but we never participated in those functions with our parents. My mom was also what you would call a Pagan. I guess now you can understand where our names came from. Lyra is a planet, and Vega is its moon. People have always questioned Lyra and me about our names.
Suddenly, the lights dimmed to almost darkness, and the stage came on. The band members all started to sing, and everyone here in the audience stood up. After looking around for a few seconds and then looking at each other, we all rose to our feet.
The words to the song flashed on two giant flat screens. Everyone in the audience started to sing, so I decided to belt out some lyrics myself. It was a lovely song, and the longer I was here, the more at peace I felt. My Redeemer Lives was the song's name, and I would like to learn the meaning behind it. After that song had finished, the band moved on to another piece, which also had me wondering the purpose behind the music; this song was called Mighty To Save, and it had me thinking about Lyra. Three more songs were sung, and then the lights came back on. The people from the band left the stage, and then a man walked up on stage.
He spoke about what I was puzzled about. He talked about salvation. When he was done, he came down to the front, which he called an alter. He then talked a bit about receiving The Lord into your heart. Asked for those who had not accepted him to come to the alter. There was a heavy tug on my heart. I could almost hear The Lord calling out to me. It was such a strange sensation.
I saw that several people were going to the front. I'm so shy, though, that I couldn't seem to make my feet move. Then I looked and saw that Blaze was walking up to the front. That helped me to move from my spot finally. Jace stayed behind, though. I don't know why. This feels so right to me. I came up beside Blaze, and he looked over at me with a massive smile on his face. I guess he was feeling the same peace I was feeling.
The preacher went down the line of people, praying with each person. Ten of us had gone to the altar, and Blaze and I were at the end of the line. The preacher finally got to Blaze, they prayed, and Blaze turned around and returned to his seat. Now it was my turn, and I was so excited. I wish I could have been raised in a church; I would have gotten saved a long time ago. The Preacher helped me pray and asked The Lord for forgiveness and asked Him into my heart. I can't explain the feeling that washed over me. It was more than physical or mental; a love beyond words replaced that void in my heart from Lyra being gone. Tears began to fall down my cheeks, even though I was the happiest I had ever been before in my life. I have never felt a love like this. I am so thankful that The Lord sent his messenger to me. Otherwise, would I have ever come to church, to begin with? I didn't realize what I was missing until now. The preacher stayed to talk to me for a moment, and I told him my story and about Lyra. He said a prayer for healing for Lyra and prayed for salvation to come to my parents. Once done, I walked back to my seat.
The Church Service was then concluded, and everyone started leaving. Jace grabbed my hand, and Blaze followed us out. I can't wait to start coming to church every week. We were about to walk out of the main entrance when the preacher came up to me holding a couple of books. He handed one to Blaze and then one to me. I saw that they were bibles. He spoke to us a bit of the importance of reading your Bible and how, other than praying; it was the best way to grow a relationship and have fellowship with Jesus. We thanked him and made our way to Blaze's truck.
Once we were all in, Jace turned his head and looked at me. "I wasn't ready; I'll go up there someday, though," Jace said and turned back around.
We went to Applebee's for lunch; the food was terrific. We all talked about the service and what we thought of it. Blaze and I talked a bit about getting saved. Then we talked about me starting work tomorrow. All three of us are stoked.
We all got done with our food. Blaze paid for our meals. I gave him hell for it, but he did it anyway. He's such a good guy. If only Lyra would wake up.
