Lyra* How Is He Here
LYRA*
I was standing there trying to answer all of Jace's Aunts' questions. I have met so many new faces I couldn't seem to remember her name. She seemed like a great person, but I would like to move further from the door. Vega and I hadn't gotten very far when people started coming up to us and introducing themselves.
All of Jace's cousins were fine as hell; my goodness. Jace's Aunt kept rattling on until a man walked up, telling her maybe I needed to sit down. Then he looked over at me, and I almost died. The man from my dreams was standing before me. I pinched myself, hoping this wasn't a dream.
He gaped at me, his bright sapphire eyes wide. My eyes probably looked as if they were about to pop out; I couldn't do anything but stare at him; I didn't know what to say. Jace's Aunt was looking back and forth between us with a confused expression on her face.
Thank God for Vega, who stepped in, "Lyra, this is Blaze, Jace's cousin. Blaze, this is my sister Lyra," Vega said with a massive grin on her face.
Vega must have known something I didn't because she looked mighty proud of herself. Blaze and I both blinked simultaneously, being kicked back into reality. I smiled and held my hand out.
"It's nice to meet you, Blaze," I said shyly with a smile on my face.
Blaze placed my hand in between both of his and brought it up to his mouth, kissing the back of my hand softly.
"The pleasure is all mine," Blaze said. The pull to be near him was there like it had been in my dream.
"Can I get you something to drink, Lyra? Jace and I picked up a little bit of everything, from alcohol to tea. You name it," Blaze said.
I couldn't help but giggle. "I think I'll wait a little bit before drinking; food would be great, though, and maybe some iced tea," I said.
My mom and dad came up to give Vega and me a hug. All the other parental figures came by to say goodbye and left together.
Then Blaze grabbed my hand and started walking with me slowly to the bar. That spark that I got in my dream shot through my arm. It's the strangest feeling. I wondered if Blaze could feel it as well. He helped me up onto the seat and pushed the chair closer to the bar. Once Blaze saw that I was settled, he walked over and grabbed a plastic cup, and scooped some ice into it. Then he poured some tea in; then placed the cup in front of me.
"Ok, so all of us guys grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. We have five pizzas on the way that should be getting delivered soon. Also, there are veggie and fruit platters and salad. Let's see; there is a cheese and cracker platter, and chips and salsa. What can I get you, Lyra?" Blaze asked while he pointed everything out.
"I'll have a hamburger for now. I'll have some pizza once it arrives," I said, smiling over at Blaze. I Hoped that Blaze wouldn't mind that I have a hefty appetite.
Crap Lyra get ahold of yourself. Remember Jared; I mentally slapped myself. It shouldn't matter what Blaze thought of me. I'm brought out of my momentary daze by music suddenly being blasted throughout the house.
I looked over and saw couples grinding against one another at the makeshift dancefloor. It's only eight o'clock, guys; I'm jealous. I would be out there myself, but I'm not sure if my left leg was strong enough. I'm pretty sure Jared would help me dance once he arrived.
I sighed and looked back over at Blaze, who had set my hamburger down in front of me. Blaze saw the disappointment on my face of not dancing like everyone else; Blaze came around the bar and stood in front of me.
"I know that you are probably starving if your anything like Vega. Vega scarfed some food down before they left to pick you up. I can see you want to dance. Let's go. We can dance until the pizza arrives, and then you can eat," Blaze said, holding out his hand.
"I don't know how well I can dance right now," I said, glancing over at everyone dancing.
Blaze turned around and bent down. "Hop on my back," he said, motioning for me to get on his back.
"Well, alright then," I said, giggling. Blaze helped me to climb up on his back.
I laughed as Blaze took us to the dance floor; and spun us around a few times. We were both laughing and having a great time. Blaze helped me down and brought me to face him.
"Put your arms around my neck, and lift your left leg. I'll hold you up." Blaze said, smiling down at me.
'It's just dancing. I'm having so much fun. There's nothing wrong with dancing,' I thought to myself.
I put my hands around Blaze's neck, and he held my left leg up. I was pretty much sitting on his leg while Blaze bumped us along to the music.
A few minutes later, the doorbell rang, and Vega stopped dancing with Jace and ran over to answer the door. She practically yelled in Jared's face to alert me that he had arrived.
"Jared, hey, so glad you were able to come; come in," Vega screamed over the music.
I quickly backed away from Blaze and walked over, closer to Jace. If it was just dancing, why was I acting so guilty? Blaze stared over at me, confusion written all over his face.
A few moments later, Jared walked up to me and gave me a quick kiss.
"Lyra, I'm starving. Would you mind if I got something to eat?" Jared hollered out over the music.
"Sure, go ahead. I'll be there in a moment. I still need to eat as well," I told Jared and gave him a peck to his cheek.
BLAZE*
Lyra was more than I ever could have dreamed of, and she's right here in front of me. All I wanted to do was take care of her and give her everything she needed. When I grabbed her hand, I felt the spark I had felt in the dream-the pull to be near her. I didn't think these feelings would be so intense. I wasn't sure of how anything was going to feel, but the feeling was more intense now than it had been in the dream.
Lyra's food choice threw me for a loop; I shouldn't have been surprised, but I was; Lyra seems to be a lot like Vega when it comes to food. Just another thing I was going to love about her. I hope Lyra doesn't mind the age difference; it's only five years; I turned twenty-six last month.
I wonder if Lyra knows that I had the same dream that she had had? I honestly didn't know what I should or should not do. So when I saw her staring at everyone on the dance floor. I thought that that would be the best chance to get close to her.
Now she's sitting on my leg, and we're both dancing to the beat. I wanted to kiss her so badly, but Lyra had been a little standoffish. I'm not sure why? Maybe I was creeping her out somehow.
Not too long after we started dancing, the doorbell rang. The pizza must be here. It had been around thirty minutes.
I don't know what Vega's deal was, but she was over-excited by whoever had arrived. I thought everyone was here that was going to be here by now. It's like one of those college parties we had back in college.
Lyra got this wide-eyed panicked look and got off of me as quickly as she could manage. Then walked over by Jace; her back was to me. What the hell?
Soon after, an African-American guy walked through the door. He had a grin on his face and made his way over to Lyra; then, he kissed Lyra. I'm so confused right now I couldn't even see straight. I thought Lyra and I were hitting it off, but it looked like she had a boyfriend. How did that even happen? Lyra had only been awake for a month and had been in the hospital this whole time. None of this made any sense at all. Why didn't Jace or Vega give me a heads up? I wouldn't have been all up on her if I had known she had a boyfriend. I would have kept my distance. At least now I understood why she was a little distant.
The man walked over to the bar, and that's when Lyra looked over at me. She motioned her head for me to go to the room. Then she looked at Vega, and they were doing some telepathy thing. Vega went over to the man at the bar and kept him distracted. Then Lyra went towards her new room. I guess I'm supposed to follow her. I don't want any play in this. My body, however, went against me, and I made my way to Lyra's room.
Once I was in, Lyra shut her door. I couldn't do anything but glare at her. Do I want to mess with all of this? I didn't want to think of her as being like any of my ex-girlfriends.
Lyra sat on the bed and sighed.
"I'm sorry. I should have told you I have a boyfriend. I couldn't help myself. I wanted to be near you. It's not supposed to be like this. Everything is so messed up. I was supposed to have met you that day. I was trying my hardest to get there, but the..." Lyra trailed off.
"I feel like we are meant to be together. I just can't right now. I have Jared, and I care about him. I don't know what happened to me. I couldn't help but be near you. I don't know what to say. I'm so confused. All I can think about is kissing you. I know I can't, though. The dream..." Lyra trailed off again.
I sat next to Lyra on the bed and brushed her hair off her shoulder.
"We will need to talk about this later, ok. There's so much that we need to talk about. It would be best if you got back out to your party, though. I'm not going anywhere. I'll be here waiting for you when the time for us comes. Till then, let's be friends and get to know each other," I said to Lyra.
"Ok, yes, that would be perfect. I care for Jared, though. Move on, don't wait for me," Lyra said.
I couldn't help what I did next. I bent over and placed my lips to Lyra's. Sparks ignited between us. Lyra hesitated for only a second, and then she reciprocated. She opened her mouth to give me access; this is Heaven.
After a moment, I pulled back from the kiss. "I'm sorry. I couldn't help it. I needed one kiss. Now I will leave you alone; Lyra, I will wait for you," I said as I got up and walked out the door.
