Blaze and Lyra* Twins
BLAZE*
My eyes and ears were deceiving me. Dr.Stevenson did not just say Lyra and I are having twins. Lyra looked like she was about to hyperventilate; Lyra and I both seemed to be in shock.
"Excuse me, Dr. Stevenson, but repeat that one more time; I don't think I heard you correctly," I said.
"You both look like you're in shock; sit down, Blaze, and I will move the monitor closer," Dr. Stevenson said as she adjusted the screen.
I sat down and squeezed Lyra's hand. At first, I freaked out, but as I saw the two heartbeats fluttering on the screen and then heard them beating in time together, I grew excited. They looked nothing like babies right now; it was all so interesting. I can understand why Vega and Jace called Nicholas a bean or an alien at first.
Lyra was going to be eating for three for the next six months. If she could get to where she could keep some food down, that is. I looked at Lyra, and she beamed at me happily; the shock had cleared.
"Two times in a row got us, two babies," Lyra said and grinned.
"This is wonderful, babe," I said.
Dr. Stevenson allowed us to watch the monitor for a few more minutes while she printed out a couple of pictures for us and then concluded the ultrasound.
"Do either of you have any questions?" Dr. Stevenson asked.
"I am having a hard time keeping anything down except for my prenatal vitamins, crackers, and ginger ale. Is there anything that you could give me for nausea and vomiting?" Lyra asked.
"It is good that you have started taking vitamins; Lyra, you should have come in sooner, and I could have given you something. I can prescribe you a better prenatal vitamin, and I will get you something for nausea; nausea should subside soon now that you are going into the second trimester," Dr. Stevenson said as she started scribbling on the prescription pad.
"I will need you to have a blood draw before you leave, and I need to see you back here in a month; give me a call if you need anything before then," Dr. Stevenson said as she handed me Lyra's prescription and then walked out of the door.

"I can't believe we are having twins, can you, Blaze. I hope that they will be boys. Nicholas is the cutest bundle of joy I have ever seen," Lyra said as she ate her chicken noodle soup.
"I want girls; there's nothing but men in my family, and I hope they will have their mom's emerald green eyes," I said as I bent down and kissed Lyra's forehead.
LYRA* ONE MONTH LATER*
'Can you pick me up some Tacos, pickles, and strawberry ice cream on your way home from work, please?' I texted Blaze, knowing that he was about to leave the office.
'Yes, love, whatever your heart desires, I'm about to leave the office. I love youπ' Blaze texted back.
'I love you tooπ'
The prenatal vitamins and the antinausea medication Dr. Stevenson had prescribed had helped me instantly. After a week, nausea had diminished like she said it would. Then the cravings had kicked in. I was going to dip my pickles into that strawberry ice cream and savor every bite.
Pickles dipped in strawberry ice cream have been one of the things I have been craving over the last two weeks. Also, in the mornings, I have to have three waffles with peanut butter and syrup and two glasses of milk. I have also craved Mexican food, hence the tacos that I would eat before I dove into my pickles and strawberry ice cream. I can't wait until Blaze gets home.
I am only four months into this pregnancy, but I already have a nice-sized baby bump, and the babies have begun to move. Blaze can not feel them yet, but I can. Vega comes over daily to do our school work together, and my mom and Diana help with baby Nicholas. She has helped me a lot through this transition into the second trimester and has said by next month; Blaze should be able to feel them. Vega had just left so that she could be home once Jace got home from work.
***TWO MONTHS LATER***
"It looks like baby a is a boy, and he is showing that fact proudly," Dr. Stevenson said as she pointed out our baby boy.
"A boy; yes, that makes me so happy, you can throw ball and teach him how to fish and other manly things," I said, and Blaze beamed happily at me.
"Baby B is trying to hide. Let me see if I can get them to move. Aw yes, a baby girl, she was trying to be modest," Dr. Stevenson said, and we all laughed.
"The baby's measurements are right on track for twenty-five weeks, and your cervix is firm, but I want you on bed rest from now on. Other than a stroll a couple of times a day with Blaze, I want you off of your feet and not putting strain on your leg. You said that your leg has been bothering you quite a bit, right?" Dr. Stevenson asked.
"Yes, it gets pretty uncomfortable, and I can't stand on it for longer than thirty minutes," I said.
"You may want to sign up for some pregnancy yoga classes, and don't get embarrassed by this, but you and Blaze should have sex often. Endorphins are good for babies. I need you back here in one month; after that ill need to see you every two weeks until the time comes for you to give birth," Dr. Stevenson said.

"We can go online now and order everything for the baby's rooms since I can't be on my feet for long. I wouldn't say I like shopping anyway, but I would like to get everything ordered so that we could get everything set up," I said.
"Let's stop at home depo, you can wait in the car, and I'll run in for some paint. What colors do you want for their rooms?" Blaze asked.
"Blue and grey for the boy's room, and turquoise for the girl's room. We could also come up with names now; this is all so exciting. You need to call your mom and let her know. I don't want a party like Vega, but a baby shower would be great; we are going to need double for these babies," I said, and Blaze chuckled beside me.
"Those colors are perfect, and how about Adelaide for a girl and Christopher for a boy? Those were our favorite names." Blaze said as he parked his truck in front of the home depo.
"Forgive my pregnancy brain; I knew that I'm just absent-minded these days," I said, and Blaze kissed me before exiting the truck.
*****TWO MONTHS LATER*****LYRA*
"Ok, Lyra, your baby boy is out; rest for just a moment, and then we will bring your baby girl into the world. I wish that you had taken my advice and gotten the epidural, I know you must be exhausted and in pain," Dr. Stevenson said.
"Blaze, can you come here so that I can punch you in the balls. You are never touching me again," I screamed as another sharp contraction went through me.
I'm so stupid; why didn't I get the epidural. I wanted three to five kids before, but now, after getting my ass handed to me by two babies, screw that. Knowing my luck, I would get pregnant with twins again, like my grandmother on my dad's side, who had two sets of twins. Why me, why couldn't Vega have had twins. It could be that Blaze's dad is a twin, and twins run on both sides of my family, but Jace's dad is Blaze's dad's twin brother, so that still makes no sense that I would be the one stuck having twins and not Vega.
" Ok, Lyra, here comes another one, I know you are tired after being in labor for five hours, but I need you to push. I can see her head; she's right there," Dr. Stevenson said.
"BLAZE, I'm sorry I've screamed at you; please help me get this baby out," I screamed.
"Ok, Blaze, come here now. You're going to see your baby girl come into the world quite literally. Lyra hold the end of this sheet, Blaze you hold the other end. When the next contraction comes, pull the sheet, help Lyra push this baby out. Here it comes, push Lyra, pull Blaze." Dr. Stevenson said.
BLAZE*
I was fine over there holding Lyra's hand and watching the nurses clean up our baby boy Christopher. Now I'm staring at the most gruesome thing I've ever seen in my life. My God, how does that even happen? There's hair coming out of Lyra's passage and blood and liquids that don't belong in a body, or I don't think so anyway. 'Please, God, don't make me throw up,' I thought to myself.
"Rebecca, come take over for Blaze; he looks like he's about to pass out," Dr. Stevenson said. Rebecca took the sheet from me, and I sat next to Lyra on the bed and wiped her forehead with a damp cloth.
"Blaze, get behind Lyra and help her sit up, help her push. Ok, Lyra give me one good final push, push with all your might," Dr. Stevenson said.
Lyra screamed, and I thought she would break my hands with all the force she was putting into pushing our baby girl out. Just a few moments later, I heard the screams coming from our little Adelaide. I went over to cut the cord; I made sure not to look at all the gore going on in between Lyra's legs.
I know I said I wanted several kids, but that sight made my balls ache. Not in a good way either. It was as if someone had kicked me in my seed sacks. It was as if I could feel Lyra's pain. She was not going to go through this again. We have a boy and a girl, we are good. I'm pretty sure Lyra will agree with me. I will spoil her even more now to make up for the pain of going through childbirth. I felt so bad that she had had to go through all of this.
I walked back to Lyra and sat on the bed with her, and she laid her head on my chest as she tried to slow her breathing. I grabbed the wet towel and wiped the sweat from her forehead and the tears on her cheeks.
"I'm using an epidural next time," Lyra stressed out. "That was literal hell, so worth it, though, now that we have our babies," Lyra said as she sighed, grateful the babies had arrived and were both crying on the other side of the room.
"I'm not sure there will be a next time, love. Two at one time, I saw what was going on down there, and I hurt right along with you. You don't want to go through that again, do you?" I asked.
"I'll have an epidural next time, and all will be well. I learned my lesson; besides, being pregnant is the most fantastic feeling in the world," Lyra said.
"Babies are coming through," the two nurses said in unison as one nurse placed Christopher in my arms and Adelaide in Lyra's arms.
Both Christopher and Adelaide have my black hair, but Adelaide has Lyra's emerald green eyes, and Christopher has my Sapphire blue eyes. Adelaide is nineteen inches long and weighed in at seven and a half pounds, and Christopher is twenty inches long and weighed in at eight pounds.
I couldn't ask for more, being here with my beautiful wife and my babies.
"Yes, this is heaven; I wouldn't mind at all having more; let's just give it a year or so," Lyra said as she chuckled.
"Ok, love, whatever your heart desires," I said.
