It Might Be The Last Time

After a few weeks, three foreign teachers had come to our school. It was a teachers’ exchange program. To welcome them we had a small formal welcome. In that welcome, those teachers said few words and they had brought gifts to the principal and other big members of school. Then, they said they had brought gifts for the Boy Captain and Girl Captain also. They received the gift. I was a little jealous. The gifts were wrapped beautifully. I thought how lucky they were. I could also see jealousy in Alice's face. But maybe if it was Alice who had received the gift I would not have been jealous but it was Tanie. After few days, they left.

We all then started focusing on our studies. Our final exams were near. Nothing happened because everyone was busy studying. Soon, we had our exams. I gave all exams well. However, the last examination was of Mathematics. Tyler was in the back seat of mine. I had been practicing Mathematics a lot. So, I was confident. I started writing the solutions. I felt every question easy. Half an hour was left when I finished every questions. I felt happy because I thought I will get full marks. However, I thought of re-checking. So, I went through all my answers. I could hear that Tyler had also finished as he was also going through the pages and I could hear him flipping through pages. Then, suddenly he nudged me slowly. He whispered slowly and asked, "Have you finished?" I did not turn back and just nodded. Then, he said again, "Let's compare the answers and check." I nodded again.

Well… in front of me there was a tall boy who covered us. So, we could discuss easily. I did not turn back and he said the answers and I nodded if it was right. As we compared our answers, all were same except one. I moved my head in disagreement when he said the answer. Then, we both started checking our own solutions. I could not find my mistake so I waited for him to say something. After few minutes he said different answer from before and I nodded my head. So, we both were sure that we will get full marks. We both went out of the examination hall together. I was happy. I could also see his facial expression, which had a smile. Then, he said in excitement, "Thanks, we will get the full marks in Mathematics." He jumped in excitement and I also jumped and we clapped each other's hands and soon realized what we were doing. Both of us felt awkward.

He went back his home. I waited for Alice. After the time finished, Alice came out and she said it went well. Then, we discussed answers on our way back. We had all same answers except one. She got it that her one was wrong. She felt a little down because she was expecting full marks. Then, I cheered her up. It was our last day, so we just had fun and went home a little late than other days. Our school had organized us a one night two days tour as a farewell gift. Obviously everyone was going, and I also decided to go. It might be the last time I can see them all especially Tyler. I could have chances to talk to Alice in future because we had good friendship however Tyler and I were not in so good terms. So, I wanted to spend time with him also although we will not be together. The tour was after two days so I started preparing for it. On the day of tour, everyone was expected at school at 7 a.m. as the bus would leave at 7.30. I was at home and was hurrying. I said mom, "Mom, I will be late so I will get going." I hugged my mom and said bye. Dad was busy in reading newspaper and drinking coffee so I just said "bye dad" both of them wished me goodbye and told me to take care and have fun and after agreeing to them, I headed for school.
