It was quite a strange moment. It's been five minutes since we arrived and Tyler was only able to bring himself to let go of me a few seconds ago. He quickly pulled on the pants that were in the pocket and immediately grabbed my hand again. It might sound a little crazy, but it gave me the impression that Tyler was holding onto me. But that seemed utterly absurd to me. After all, Tyler was a large and also superhumanly strong werewolf, in comparison I was only human and a girl at that, a weak appearance beside him.
A quick look into his eyes almost made me lose my faith. My initial assumption was completely correct. Tyler's eyes showed me all of his uncertainty and fear.
I put my free hand on his cheek. As if by reflex, his hand slipped over mine and held it there. Slightly smiled and tried to calm him down a bit. I didn't know what it was that caused his worried expression, but I wanted to encourage him for what was to come. My behavior seemed to help him. Briefly, Tyler closed his eyes, took a deep breath and opened his eyes, which now seemed much more determined.
Tyler took my hand that was on his cheek in his hand, brought it to his mouth and pressed a soft kiss on the back of my hand. I blushed and lowered my gaze in embarrassment.
"Oh baby, what have I ever done without you." He whispered softly, just loud enough for me to hear.
There was a moment's silence before Tyler began speaking again, "We're pretty much at the Alpha's pack house now. It 's very important that whenever a werewolf tells you something, you do it. This pack is special as it is the oldest of the packs in existence today. This was also the starting point of the war against the people. The Alpha, in particular, is notorious for not being on the best of terms with humans, even though its mate was human. So show yourself as humble as possible, no matter how uncomfortable something makes you. I will try to be by your side as much as possible. Unfortunately, I don't know myself what we're supposed to do here. I've never heard of the Alphainvited someone into his pack. But we should move on now, they're already waiting for us."
Dozens of questions are running through my head. What would happen here? Why did the alpha not like humans? And what about his mate? These and many more just confused me more and more.
Tyler pulled me further by my hand. He now seemed completely focused on a distant target. His expression was serious and he seemed to brace himself for what was to come.
After a few hundred meters, I could finally see what we were moving towards. Between the trees, somewhere in the middle of the forest, stood a group of about two dozen people. As I approached, I noticed that there were only two other women present besides me. In the forefront stood a tall, fierce-looking man with a scar-lined face.
As I got closer, I realized the mistake I was making. I quickly lowered my eyes and tried to catch a glimpse of the people out of the corner of my eye. The woman standing closest to the grim man had long, loose brown hair that gave her a strong presence, but this contrasted with her face, which seemed completely emotionless. The second woman stood leaning against another man near the man and woman. She obviously caught my gaze and a slight smile crossed her face, which was framed by shoulder-length, dark blonde hair.
In the end we had reached the group completely and stopped a few steps away from the man who was standing first. I had an uneasy feeling in my stomach, but Tyler's light squeeze on my hand kept me calm as much as possible.
Now we stood here and no one said a word. All those involved were silent for a full two minutes.
"Alpha," said the man the second woman was leaning against. All that came from the scarred man was a horrible growl. Not a second later I was clutching Tyler's arm. That growl, and that man in general, terrified me Fear. Tyler eyed me briefly, but then quickly looked back at the apparent alpha.
"Welcome future alpha to my pack." came more growling than speaking from the man. " Alpha , we are honored to be invited," Tyler said quietly.
A quick sideways glance told me that as Tyler said, the alpha turned around, put an arm around the first woman's shoulders, and walked her in the opposite direction. Most of the men also followed them. Only the man who spoke to the alpha first and the blond woman who was still leaning against him remained standing.
I loosened my grip on Tyler's arm a bit. What should we do now? My eyes searched Tyler's, he understood my silent question, but probably didn't know what to do and just shrugged his shoulders.
A clearing of his throat made us look at the other two people. The man had detached himself from the blond woman and took a few steps towards us.
"I also welcome you both here. I'm Beta Brandon, next to me is my beautiful companion Bea." "
Oh Brandon, stop sucking."
"Why my soul, everyone in the world should know that I think you're the most beautiful creature on the entire planet." "
Men, you're just impossible!" exclaimed the woman, winking at me Eye closed, went to her companion and kissed him softly.
Only now, on closer inspection, did I notice that the two were significantly older than us. A streak of gray here and there, and slight wrinkles made me guess her age at over 50. But that was hard to say, especially with werewolves.
Especially since I knew, thanks to Tyler, that the alpha with the many scars was probably Jehner who ordered the attack on humans three hundred years ago.
Then a whole new thought came to me. If this was the Alpa's beta, it would probably be about the same age as well. But that also meant that this Brandon, as well as his companion, also had the blood of the people who lived at that time sticking to them, who died during the takeover. And it is well known that there were quite a few. Even if it was always presented differently in school, the teachers there had to adhere to the guidelines of the werewolves.
The two werewolves turned back to us.
"Unfortunately, the name was forgotten to be mentioned in the notification about the found companion." said the beta. Next to me I could hear something murmuring that sounded like "typically my mother". The two in front of us didn't react at all, although they certainly understood it far better than I did.
"Well, so as not to explain it quite as complicated as my mate, we wanted to ask your name." Bea turned directly to me. I looked at Tyler, completely surprised to be spoken to. He also wanted to answer for me, but Brandon cut him off: "Please let your companion answer herself. She's not a small child anymore." Tyler wanted to object again,
"Come on girl, you can tell us your name. You don't have to put yourself under your mate's slippers so much. You can open your mouth, we're practically among ourselves."
