Guest

The run didn't last as long as the walking. We were received by my beta and others. I instantly ordered for her to be taken care of. Her legs were full of blisters from walking too much because I was an ass. I went to work because I had been away due to the storm. I was greeted by my secretary and I waved at her. "What's on our agenda today?'' I asked her. " We have a guest from the office",  she said with a stony expression.

"Seriously, I asked them to stay away from our mess", I told her. " They didn't listen surely or else they won't be here", she said without a smile. "What do you mean? He is here already!", I asked her annoyingly. Why wasn't I informed of this before? " We couldn't inform you earlier because of your absence", she said evenly. "Where is she?'' I asked her. " He is the guest building of course", she said seriously. "The same building where I have kept my mate forcefully", how could these people be such good warriors but equally dumb. " Oh! Sebastian and Liam are taking care of him, Alpha", he said.

"Shift my mate from there immediately before he gets to know of things", I told her. " Where to Alpha, since the war, no one will willingly take her into their home. "What about you?", I asked her. " I live with my parents but if you order me I will. They will probably be too scared of her to harm her", she announced. "It's Ok. Take her to my building then there are enough rooms there. She will be protected, there", I declared. " Alright Alpha", she told me steadily.

We were interrupted by another, to my surprise, it was none other than Annabeth. God, I didn't want to deal with her now. "What do you want  Annabeth"?`` I asked her. "I want my maid of honour back if you are done with her '', she said with a pout. " I'm done with her, however, she is not well enough to attend to you. "Thought so. But I want a little more money, you see. I was looking at this whole flower arrangement from magazines. It's going to cost a lot", she said.

" We are in the middle of a war Annabeth, the only reason I'm not postponing our wedding is because of our reputation of not backing away from anything", I told her patiently.  "Alpha forgive me for intrusion. Please give me another kiss if you let my foolishness go", she said sincerely. I was glad to send her away. I enthusiastically went to kiss her my Secretary gave us some space. She suddenly moved away from me which caught me by surprise. " I was reading about abstaining a few days before the wedding can give you a real wedding night experience", she told me. I sighed with relief. "If that's what you want", I told her.

She swayed past me only to make me more curious. what it is about weddings that make chicks behave strangely. I have known her to be a level-headed person then she changed to a girl from la-la land. I didn't have time or interest to ponder about such things so I left that thought.

I gave my order to call my guys to my office. They came soon and launched an instant debate about how they felt it wrong for humans to meddle in our matters. I asked them to chill since it might not be an impulsive decision. The rest of the tribes could be behind it. What I wanted right now was an audience with Mike. If he was here it was sure that there was something wrong. " Inform Mike that I was going to visit him", I told everyone.

Suddenly, Liam got a call and he picked it up only to be distressed. "What is it"?, I demanded. " Nothing Mike is not in his room", he said head down. "Are you kidding me? " I shouted at them. They know he is not a threat but he is still important. If he is killed then there could be real issues. Mortals could turn against us in a heartbeat. So far they have been our number one ally. It doesn't take much to shift a war. I stormed outside in search of him. I was stopped by one of the security guards who informed me that he was walking around the park. I turned my direction to our small park.

I saw him sitting on a bench with my mate by his side. I was boiling but somehow cooled my expression. I could hear the gist of their conversation. So far it was not dangerous, maybe something about the weather. I was relieved that she hadn't confessed to him how she was kidnapped from home. I didn't trust her but I had no choice but to do it now.

"Hey Mike! ", I greeted him. He immediately stood up and offered his hands which I took.

" We were introduced just now and didn't know you had another human guest", he said with calculated ease. "She is a friend and a guest will be here till my wedding. I thought you were resting,  taking walks with blisters on is not the best idea", I said and motioned for security. " We have a business to discuss, please take her back", I ordered.

"She is a nice young woman. She had good things to say about you but her eyes were so sad", he was trying to trap me with his words. " I don't know what you are talking about, she is very happy to be here", I said. "Maybe she is missing her boyfriend perhaps ", he said. ``'' I don't think she has any boyfriend but she is free to leave any time she wants to ", I said, putting an end to our conversation. " Forgive me, but how do you know her?", he asked not to leave our conversation. "She saved my life from an attacker which I informed you about", I said. " But you left this girl out of it ", he said. "I don't know how she could be of any interest to you", I said again.

" She is relevant because now being here she had declared her ally and your enemies wouldn't take kindly to her. But you don't have to worry, her life is our priority", he said.

"Like I said she is our friend we can take care of her", noting that this is not the end of our conversation. He finally let go of it and we began our little chat. I took this opportunity to study the small guy in front of me.

He didn't look threatened by my appearance at all. We spoke about how he thinks the endless wars have to stop between the communities. But I told him it wasn't an easy road but we have tried to remain peacefully failing. He only nodded his head in response. He said every tribe was important and he wasn't going to support anyone in particular.

" Then you can wait, let war wage and see the result", I said. "It's not easy for people wanting to explore the reservation a lot and we are trying to hold them", he said. A war could reveal our identities, that was what he was hinting at but I had no qualms about that. We are not some kind of ugly secret to being held on. There were others too like vampires I was sure they were in contact with. I once got a feeling they were giving us anonymity only so that we won't find each other. Maybe if we unite then there is no hope for humanity or so they believed.

But in real life, there was no hope for us being together. There is a reason that we are called natural enemies. We couldn't stand each other. I haven't seen any vampires but sometimes when I was in the human world I felt an eerie feeling of being watched. I couldn't see anything wrong but I hadn't shifted. Maybe that's the reason. Now with my full abilities, I could smell them from miles away.

Mike and I said our goodbyes. He was leaving tonight to my relief but he made a strange request to have dinner with me and Angela. I was very tense. I know that he didn't know anything; she had kept everything hidden from him. But he was from the secret service and he could deduce things easily. There was simply no need of telling anything he could read between the lines. I know how to ward him off but could only do it with her help. I decided to meet her in person.

I ordered my secretary to inform our community kitchen to prepare a hearty meal for the three of us. I then went ahead to see my mate. She was lying on the bed reading our clan book. I lightly knocked on the door and she turned to look at me. She was looking just plain sexy but I decided to ignore it and sat on the chair near the bed. She sat upright and gave me a small smile.

" How's your legs?, I asked. " It's good now that I have rested", she said. "Alright. So you won't mind joining us for a light dinner", I asked her again. " I don't know Aidan if im much of a company", she said disinterestedly. "I think you should come", I said with no emotion. " if that's what you want", she said. "You should know that you are doing a huge favour to me by agreeing and you can ask me anything in return that I can allow", I said. She smiled sadly at me and said, " Ok then I will ask you", she said. "Mike will be there. I want you to act like you are here because you love me. So Mike is not suspicious about your presence and won't forcefully take you away", I said. " Sounds like I don't have to do much", she said. "I have work to do and wear something nice. I will send my secretary to help you to get ready", she sighed and laid down on the bed. I couldn't help but look back at her she was lying down eyes closed make me want to join her just as bad.
