Love and trust

I walked outside in the same form. I saw the guards rounding upon me. I knew they will fire me. I didn't want to hurt any one there. I know Mike wouldn't want that. I walked outside to be met with firing from all direction. It wouldn't hurt me as long as they fire a silver bullet at my heart. But it will still hurt like a bitch. So I jumped away each time a bullet was fired. Apart from a few bullets grazing past me. I wasn't hurt. They ran to catch me but I was too fast for them. I jumped inside my vehicle and went booming past their patrol cars.

A chase will soom follow until they know that I was from the reservation. Then they would call the firm or office to deal with it. I know the drill. I have been doing this for a long time.

When I reached my home I saw my mate and Mike standing there. None of my team were there I have sent everyone to help the other tribes. She looked shaken up. She drew a sigh of relief when she saw me. When I went near her I hugged her.

"Thanks for bringing her here safely", I told Mike.

"No mention. I take it Julio is dead", he asked me.

"Yes", I told him.

"There is going to be some trouble for you. They saw me driving to reservation", I told Mike.

"Don't worry. I will deal with it", he told me.

"I need you to call back your forces from other tribes too. The innocents are dying", I told Mike.

"I know but it is not my call. I will say my piece to them. It would have been better if he caught Julio alive", said Mike.

"How would that have helped us?", I asked him.

"He could have testified", said Mike.

"No he would have manipulated the interrogating team. You don't know his powers. He was an older vampire", I said to him.

"That is also True. But I promise you don't have to deal with it. I will try to make everything right", said Mike.

"Before all of that I want you to call your home", I told Mike.

"Yes. I will", said Mike with a small smile.

"I want you to think about having that surgery too", said my mate placing a kiss on his cheek

I was surprised that it didn't draw me to a jealous fit. I smiled at the exchange.

"I will visit you both soon once the business with the office is settled", said Mike.

"You are always welcome", I told Mike meaning it for the first time.

"Also I want you to take care. I know from some facts that Julio wasn't working alone there is someone who was helping me. It was probably from your side because we are at war with the rest of the tribes", said Mike.

"I don't know if I believe that someone could work against me from my tribe", I told him. I didn't want to give rise to any doubts to whoever was listening to the conversation.

I saw my mate looking at me feeling sad. It must have hurt her that I still wasn't believing anything against my people. But I need to hurt her just so that I can save her. This time I won't let her die. Even if she hates me for it. Even if she chose to leave me again. I will endure every pain I have to.

We said our goodbye to Mike. He was very happy when he left. We said we will visit him. My mate was still very sad. It just broke my heart to see her like that.

"Let us go inside", I told her. I took her inside and helped her change her clothes. She was too tired hence I didn't force her for a bath. I know she had been conscious of her naked body. But making love to her is the last thing on my mind. But my body had a miscommunication and also it was moon period my wolf started to get excited. Calm down buddy we have all the time in the world but for it we must find the traitors who had been betraying us. Ever since her first life time. I was an idiot for not recognising it. But enough is enough I won't let them play a fool anymore. My mate is the most important thing in the world even more than my tribe. Yes I have finally accepted to myself what kind of a shitty leader I was? One who couldn't even manage to save his mate's life. What a joke?

I gently pressed the antiseptic on her bite marks.

"I'm glad he is dead", she told me.

"Me too", I added.

"Thanks for saving my life", she told me again.

"Don't thank me. You are my mate. I will die before anything happen to you", I told her.

"Is it just because I'm your mate?", she asked me.

"No you are more than my mate. You are the love of my life", I told her gently holding her face in my face. I saw tears running down her face. I kissed it away.

"It is enough for me. I only ask your love and trust. I want nothing more. You gave me your love and I will wait for your trust", she told me.

You have both I wanted to tell her but I couldn't say it right now. Her face is far too expressive to hide a secret. If the killer knows that she is confident then he won't try to do something because he or she will know that I have some doubts. But I couldn't let her wallow in sadness.

"I know I haven't been a good mate to you. But I want to change. I want to organise a party in your honour will you let me?", I asked her.

"Yes", she said. I bent down to kiss her.
