I'M SORRY
CHAPTER THIRTEEN
SARAH'S POV
"Please, spare my life." I pleaded, as he kept tightening his grip on my neck.
“You're nothing but a monster. Do you think Amanda will ever be happy with you if you kill this innocent girl just because of the little mistake she made which isn't her fault? Answer me, Jay!?" Aunt Kathy screamed, falling to the floor which made him release his grip from my neck immediately.
I held myself against the wall coughing and rubbing my neck at the same time.
If it hadn't been for Aunt Kathy, I would have long been dead from the planet. If I knew the little boy was allergic to peanuts in the first place, I would have never added peanuts to the cookies.
It's also my boss's fault for not mentioning his son's allergy to me when laying his rules. I wish I could run away from all these torture but I cant because its no way easy to escape him.
He left quietly without saying any word to her as I rushed and helped her up.
“Go back home, Sarah." She said, sniffing back her tears.
“I'm so sorry aunt." I apologize for causing her so much trouble.
“It's okay, child. Everything is going to be alright. We're going to bring Max home. Just go before the situation gets worse."
"Okay." I replied and handed Max's drug to her before turning around to leave.
I feel guilty she had to go through a lot of problems to save him from the hands of my boss.
I never imagined he could be this ruthless for a mistake which I wasn't really at fault for. He should have said something about it so I could prevent the boy from taking anything with peanuts but all he cared about was his stupid rules.
**
I was sitting in the living room waiting for them to return from the hospital and just then I heard the horns of cars outside and knew it was them.
I don't know how to face Max at all. He might think I'm a bad person who wants to kill him.
I was lost in my thoughts when I heard his little voice called out which jolted me back to reality.
"Mommy!" He called out again, rushing towards me.
“Are you okay, now?" I inquired, hugging him passionately.
“Mommy, I'm sorry for making you worried. I miss you." He added, with a smile as I caressed his face.
“That's enough, champ. Let's get you to your room to get some rest." His dad interrupted.
“I'm okay now, daddy. I want to stay with mommy here."
“That's it. Go to your room right now!" He yelled which frightened the little boy and made him rush upstairs in tears.
"You shouldn't have yelled at him in that manner. I'll go talk to him." Aunt Kathy said, before going after him while you both resolved the matter once and for all.
I felt choked when I was left alone with him after recalling the incident from the hospital. I didn't know what to say to him but one thing is sure, I don't want him around me at the moment.
“Didn't I tell you about his allergy?" He asked, starting the conversion.
“You didn't, sir and I wasn't aware he was allergic to peanuts."
"Then why didn't you ask for aunt's permission before you made him the cookie?"
“She was busy assigning duties to the staff."
“No matter what she's doing, you have to let her know everything before you give it to him."
“Okay sir."
“Also, I'm sorry." He added and headed over to the stairs.
I was really surprised he apologized. I thought he was that stone cold but I'm glad he's not that cold after all.
I really find it strange when he released his grip on me. Could it be because of the name aunt Kathy mentioned that made him apologize? I think the woman in person might be his wife but where could she be?
JAYDENS POV
I can't believe I had to bring myself down and apologize to my staff but today, it happened to her. I still can't stop imagining the words, aunt said back then in the hospital.
I felt cold and sad when she mentioned Amanda's name. She was right with her words. If Amanda was still alive she would have never allowed me to strangle Sarah but I just couldn't control myself at the time.
I wish Amanda was here. Things would have gotten easier for me if that unknown monster hadn't killed her.
I need to button up on the search for her culprit. It's been over five years and I havent done anything to find the murder and get my revenge.
**
I was in my study on a call with an important investor who was willing to sign a multi-billionaire deal with my company but his conditions were too demanding which I was trying to negotiate with him when Henry walked in.
I had sent for him since the contract came into his hands and he was aware of the conditions but kept it away from me.
“I'll have to give it some thought, Mr Hopkins. Thank you." I stated, and dropped the call.
"You sent for me, sir?"
“Why didn't you tell me about his contract conditions?"
“I'm sorry boss. I didn't know how to break the news to you."
“You guys are always good at saying that. Just forget about it. I'll handle it myself."
"I'm sorry boss." He apologized again.
“If I hear those words again, I won't consider giving you a second chance. Did you get the stuff I asked for?"
“Yes boss."
"Alright. Send it over to his room and ask the drivers to get ready in an hour."
"Okay boss but what about the party? Should I ask the maid to clear up the decorations?"
“No, let them continue with it. It's his birthday after all. I just want to take him out to have a little fun before the party starts.”
“Okay boss."
“One more thing, tell Sarah to get ready and get Max ready as well."
“Alright boss." He bowed and left.
I can't roll my head up over Mr Hopkins' conditions before signing the deal with me. I don't know what his reasons for asking for such but I don't know who will be willing to do the job for me.
I have got a week to come up with something before the said date. I have no choice since the contract is worth going out of my work deal just to secure the contract.
Finding the perfect person who would make him believe is what I need to find and I know it won't be a big task when money is involved.
