ATTACKED

CHAPTER FIFTEEN

SARAH'S POV

I was terrified when I heard a gunshot and everyone began to run for their lives. I quickly grabbed Max off the horse ride and held him to myself.

"Stay close to us, ma'am." One of the bodyguards that escorted us said.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"I think we're under attack. Let's get you both to safety before the boss shows up." The other guy stated.

We were heading outside just like everyone running when one of the bodyguards was shot in the head.

"Oh God!" I cried out at the horrible sight, quickly closing Max's eyes with my hands to prevent him from getting terrified.

I could feel him shivering with fear just like I am but I have to be strong for him before his father comes to our rescue.

We couldn't take another step because of the two men standing in front of us with guns in their hands.

I was already praying deeply not to die this way when we heard gunshots as the men fell to the ground as it appears that Henry was the one who shot at them.

"Miss Sarah, are you both alright?"

"Yes." I answered, taking out the handkerchief from my trouser with my other hand before using it to close his eyes.

"Let's get you guys out of here. Come on." He uttered as about ten more bodyguards surrounded us, leading us towards the car.

We didn't get half way when gun fires began to hit the men one after the other as Henry grabbed my hand and took us to the car.

"You have to stay quiet and make sure you don't come out no matter what."

"Okay." I nodded and held Max close to me before he locked the car and headed back inside.

"I'm scared mommy." Max uttered with tears in eyes.

"Shhh... It's okay, baby. I'm right here with you, okay?"

"Will my daddy be okay?"

"Of course, dear. Your daddy is a superhero."

"I want to go home, mommy." He murmured as tears kept streaming down his cheeks.

"Me too, honey but we have to stay here and wait for your daddy to return. Your daddy has to fight those bad guys." I assured him, pulling him closer to my body.

After some couple of minutes, Henry shows up with two bodyguards and instructs them to take Max and I back to the mansion.

“What about you and where's Mr Russell?"

“He's inside and it was his order to have you both taken back to the mansion. Well join you guys soon as well."

"Alright. But is he alright? Max is really worried about him."

“He's fine. We need to get to the bottom of the attack. Stay safe, alright.” He said before the bodyguards got inside the car and drove us out.

I just hope they will be safe and the people behind the attack get punished for turning this little boy's birthday into a nightmare.

JAYDENS POV

“Who sent you?" I asked one of the men, stepping on his chest.

“I don't know. We were hired to target you."

"F **k you!" I cursed and shot him on the head.

There's an imposter among the men I brought here with me and I must spot him out among the rest of the men.

I cant believe one of the boys' gun hit me in the hand which means they are well trained and really determined to kill me.

But who could have sent them? I've lots of enemies and can't tell who might have done this. I really need to come up with a plan.

Aside from the two men whom I trust to escort my son and his nanny, the rest are not to be trusted.

I'll definitely fish the person who leaked my location to them right here and now.

I kept staring at each of them giving a close look at their facial expression until I finally saw him looking uneasy and restless.

I let out a big grin and ordered them to clean up the dead bodies but asked him to wait behind.

"You're shot, boss." Henry rushed towards me, handing a clean handkerchief to me.

“Forget about me. Are they gone?"

“Yes boss. I made sure they left before heading back here."

“Who the hell are those people and how did they know I would be here?” I yelled, putting up a charade watching how the guy was shivering and sweating.

“I don't know, boss but I'll get to the bottom of the matter and fish out the culprit."

“I don't need that because I've already fish out the son of a b*** who dared to forsake me."

"Who is it, boss?" Henry asked, looking around while I kept my eyes on the guy.

“Forgive me, boss. I never meant to do it." He begged, going down on his knees.

“He's the new guy we hired. This is really unbelievable." Henry scoffed and grabbed him by the neck.

“How dare you sell us to our enemy? Tell me, who do you work for?" He added.

"Don't kill him just yet, Henry. He has a lot to tell me. Have some of the men beat him to pulp until he passes out and tie him up."

“Okay boss." He replied, letting him go and calling a few of the boys to do the job while I strolled outside to where the cars were packed.

“The boys will take care of the job and move him to the torture." Henry said, behind me.

“Let's head back to the mansion."

“Okay boss. I'll call up the doctor before we arrive." He said and opened the car for me.

"I never imagined today would turn bloody on my son's birthday. I'm sure he's terrified by the sight of the blood he must have seen."

“He was blindfolded so he won't have to see any of it."

“Who brought the idea? Was it you?"

"No, boss. Miss Sarah did."

She's really smart to have come up with such a good idea. The more I want to know her, the more I find her mysterious and charming.

I've seen the positive changes in my son which I never imagined to see in such a short period of time and it's all thanks to her.

I thought she was influencing my son in a negative way but I just wasn't paying attention to the good changes in him.

My son is so attached to her and truly loves her just like she does. It's really hard to come across such people these days, which is why I seriously want to remember how and where I know her.

I have a feeling I know her from someone but I really can't tell where it was. However, each time I remember her voice, I keep recalling the incident that happened to me in New York City.

I hope she's the person I want to be. I just need to keep calm until my investigator finds out what exactly happened during my visit there.
