CHAPTER FORTY FOUR
JAYDENS POV
I promise I won't spare that bastard if he harms Sarah in any way. I wish I knew she was the one I've been searching for earlier, all of these would have happened now.
“Drive faster!" I yelled to the driver.
"We're going to rescue her, Jay." Desmond assured me.
It's all my fault this has to happen to her. If anything happens to her, I don't think I can ever forgive myself.
After a couple of minutes, we arrived a few inches to the haunted house and we all spread out. Desmond and I along with two of his men took a narrow part that will lead us inside without going through the front door.
We got through the back door and found two routes which we don't know will lead us to Donny or where he held Sarah hostage.
You too, take that route while Jay and I go this way. Desmond ordered as his men took the left while we headed to the right.
We heard distant screams of Sarah coming from a particular route which we were trying to locate. I promise I won't spare his life no matter what. I'll give him the death he is never expecting today and right here and right now.
"Where the h*ll is the sound coming from?"
“It's that way, Jay. Let's go save your woman.”
"Please, stop, it hurts so much!" I heard Sarah's screams as I knocked down the wooden door with my leg.
I found her tied to a chair with blood dripping from her face while the ba***d gave me a deadly smirk.
"Kill them, boys." He ordered his boys and stepped back.
“Allow me to take care of these little boys, Jay while you handle the prey." Desmond said, dropping his guns down and asking the boys to attack him.
I stepped away to allow him take care of them while I approached the son of a b*** but stopped when he held a knife to Sarah's throat.
“Stay where you're Jayden or I'm going to slit her throat."
You don't have to bring her into our mess. Stay away from her while I'm still nice, Donny."
“She's the main reason why I couldn't kill you that night. She has to suffer for what she did and she has to die first before I finish you off."
“I'm afraid you won't get that opportunity in your lifetime." I smirked, holding a gun behind me.
“You think I can't do it, Jayden? I'll show you…" He was still saying when I shot his hand, causing him to drop the knife and step away from Sarah.
He tried to grab her with his other hand when I shot the hand, as he groaned in agony as Desmond's men rushed in and held him down.
I rushed over to Sarah and untied her from the chair while Desmond ordered his men to take Donny outside.
“I'll be outside with the boss." He stated before walking away leaving just Sarah and I.
“Are you alright? I'm sorry for coming late." I apologized.
“Why didn't you tell me you were the man I saved back in New York?"
"I never knew as well. I just found out when you got kidnapped. I'm really sorry."
“I'm glad you finally came for me." She smiled, caressing my cheek.
“I came a bit late but I promise it won't happen again."
“I was so scared thinking no one was coming for me. The man kept hitting me no stop even…" She stammered, and burst out in tears.
“I'm really sorry. It's okay. I'm here with you. You're safe with me now."
After consoling her, I carried her in a bridal style and strolled out of the building where Desmonds men took her from me before heading to the car with her.
"This guy is indeed difficult to deal with." Desmond said, hitting the son of a b*** who kept smiling.
“He's just a pebble under my feet. Give me a gun to show the fool how it's done."
“Even if you kill me right now, Jayden just remember there's someone out there who is more desperate to kill you than I am. I hope you'll watch out for him."
“Tell me, who is it?" I asked, pointing the gun to his face.
“I won't tell you because it won't make any difference when you're still going to kill me. I wonder how a mafia don cant even notice what's going on under him. It's really a shame, you see."
“To hell with you!" I cursed and shot him three times on the head.
“That's so mean, Jay. You should have break his bones before doing that. Nevertheless, it was a good watch. Let's go."
“I hate people who are confident at the point of their death. Tell your men to clean up the bodies." I stated, heading back to where the cars were packed.
“Yeah, that's for sure. We can't afford to let the police be on our trail." He replied trailing behind me.
I can't take Sarah back to the mansion. We're going to stay at Desmond's mansion instead until she fully regains herself.
I feel at peace knowing she's the woman I've been searching for all this time to thank for saving my life that day.
What would have become of Max if he had lost me that day? She seems to always be there for Max and I when we are in trouble. She's indeed an angel in a human form.
I promise I won't let any harm come before her again and I'll do whatever it takes to protect against my enemies. She's already a big part of my life and my responsibility now.
SARAH'S POV
I woke up and found Mr Russell's gaze on me as I managed to sit up against the bedhead when he stopped me.
“You still need to rest just like the doctor had instructed."
“Oh okay but where are we?"
“We're in Desmond's mansion."
“Who is Desmond?" She asked and just then the devil himself walked in holding a tray in his hand.
Wait, I know that look, Jay. Don't tell me you were talking about me?"
“This is Desmond, my enemy until recently we settled things together."
“Come on Jay. Why don't you tell her I was once your dear friend until your ego got the better of you and made you break the bond?”
“Why are you really here?"
“I came to see the sleeping angel and thought of bringing dinner to her. I hope it isn't a problem, right?" He grinned, dropping the tray on the nightstand.
“Thank you, sir." Sarah uttered.
“Please call me Desmond but not sir."
“Since that's all, you can leave, Desmond.
Yeah, I got it. She's yours anyway so I can't steal her." He grumbled before walking out.
“He's funny." She chuckled.
“That's how he is. Should I feed you?"
“No, you don't have to. You've really done more than enough for me."
“Please, let me." I insisted, moving the tray from the nightstand to the bed.
It was pasta and meatball which I had told Desmond to tell the maids to make for her along with Orange juice which I learnt from Max, it's also her favorite.
I began to feed her slowly until a little stain stayed at the corner of her lips which I tried telling her but decided to do what my heart was saying.
I pushed the tray aside and got closer to her before slowly capturing her lips in an engaging kiss.
