A HEAVY HEART
CHAPTER FIFTY TWO
RYAN'S POV
"Steven!?" I called out in shock.
"Hello father. Did you miss me? Well, I guess not."
"What's the meaning of all these and why didn't you inform me you're back?"
"Oh, my dear father! You're indeed naive but let me bring you to light a little bit. The Steve you think is a useless son is indeed a genius. You think you can get away with all you have done to me?"
"What do you mean?" I growled.
"You think I was only following your orders just for my own good. Of course not, I had my plans as well. You aren't the only one after the position to be the mafia don too. I also had that plan which was why I had to take a break and let you do your bidding before coming back into action."
"You little brat! Is this all about it? Will you kill your father just to get that position? You're too young to have the control of a mafia don."
"You've underestimated me for a long time, father. The time has come for me to prove to you, I'm more than worth it."
"What's the meaning of all these Ryan?" Sean shouted.
"Shut the f**k up, old man!" Steve screamed and shot him in the head which got me by surprise.
"What the hell did you do, Steve? You just killed the ticket to my success!?" I fired in rage.
"He talks a lot and besides I know your plans that's why I eliminated him."
"Easy father, you know, this hand of mine might pull a trigger at you. I just want to let you know I'm back and won't sit back and watch you become the next mafia don after Jay is killed."
"I wonder if you're really my son who desires the same thing as me. You're no match for me if you think you can overthrow me in this game."
"I'm more than capable father. I can't wait to see you bow down to me once I become the mafia don. You don't have to worry about anything. I'll definitely be kind to you since we share the same blood." He smiled, devilishly.
"Don't push me to the way, Steven or you'll regret ever knowing me as your father."
"Let the game begin. I truly want to see you in action, father. I'll see you when I see you. Let's go boys." He added before walking away with the men.
I fell on the chair in confusion and surprise. Who would have ever thought Steven could be a bloody killer like me?
I can't believe my own son would come up against me like this. Is he really my son or an imposter? This is really killing me right now.
"What are you going to do now, master?"
"I'll just lay low until I find a way to deal with him."
I don't care if he is my son. There's no way I'll back down and watch him steal the position I've been desiring to acquire for all these years. He's just a pebble under my feet and I know how to put him in his place.
SARAH'S POV
I kept staring around my room, which I was going to miss so much, once I leave. I will really miss the moment I had in this mansion and everyone in it most especially Jayden who I love so much.
I dragged my suitcase to the door, staring at the room one more time before walking out of the door. I have to bid Max goodbye before I leave.
I strolled to his room and walked in to see him still sleeping soundly. I will really miss him so much. I can't imagine how he's gonna feel without me around anymore.
I caressed his little cheek as he made a cute face making him look so adorable before kissing his forehead.
"I love you so much, Max but I've to go. I hope your daddy finds a woman who will care and love you as much as I do. I'll really miss you." I whispered, with tears in my eyes as I quickly wiped them off.
I need to know. I don't have much time to save my family. I brush through his head with my hand before making my way out of his room.
I was already at the door and was about to open the door when aunt's voice stopped me.
"Where are you going with your suitcase, Sarah? What's really going on, child?"
"I'm leaving, aunt. I have no place here with you guys. I wish you all the very best."
"Why are you saying all these, Sarah? Did we do anything wrong to have offended you in any way?"
"None of you offended me, aunt. Rather, you all have showered me with love beyond anything I can imagine and for that, I'll forever remain grateful to you all. I just have to leave."
"But why, dear? You have refused to open up to me what's really going on with you. I might help you in the best way I can but leaving this way isn't the best choice."
"I'm sorry aunt but it's not something I would like to discuss with anyone."
"What's the noise all about?" We heard Jayden ask from the stairs but when he saw me, he rushed downstairs.
"Sarah, what happened? Why are you holding your suitcase?" He asked, holding my hand in his.
"She's leaving us, Jay. I'm unable to understand a single thing."
"Don't be rash with your decision, Sarah, please. Did I do something to hurt you? Please, tell me so I can rectify my mistake?"
I wish I could tell him the problem my family is facing right now but I can't. I don't want him leaving in regret or looking worried in any way about me. He has to move on with his life without me.
"I'm sorry Jay but I don't love you. I was only playing with your emotions. Please, remove me from your heart and move on with your life." I lied with tears in the corner of my eyes.
"I know it's not true, Sarah. Please, don't do this to me." He pleaded, holding my hands tightly to his chest.
"It's true, Jay. Just let me go. I don't want to hurt you anymore. I'm already betrothed to someone else." I screamed, releasing his grip from my hand.
"Sarah!" He called out in shock.
"I'm sorry. I hope you'll find a place in your heart to forgive me and please, don't come looking for you." I added, with tears in my eyes before grabbing my suitcase and leaving the mansion with a heavy heart.
I had no choice to make up that story so he won't have to bother coming after me. I don't want things getting complicated for him or me. I believe with time, I'll get over my feelings for him and accept my fate with the unknown stranger.
