Chapter 47 Me and Obinna
Treating your woman like a queen doesn't make you less a man, in fact, it means you're a king.
-Cinmisola-
Oh no! This isn't happening. I've got to get out of here. I thought.
"Uh, Heaven. Are you alright?" Aisha asked.
"Yeah, yeah, uhm, I was just wondering who Obinna was then I remembered he is your boyfriend and now I'm wondering why you want me and your boyfriend together." I said.
She laughed and fixed a serious look at me. "are you always this, direct? Other people would just say 'nothing'. Anyway, I've been telling him a lot about you and he's been dying to meet you" she said and I could just taste the lies coming out of her mouth.
"Really? Why are all the guys in your life so interested in me? And I don't think I can wait for the arrival of your boyfriend before I eat, I'm starving."
"To be sincere" he said. "me too. He'll order when he gets here. What do you want?"
"Just order a bottle of Pepsi and a pepperoni pizza." I said and started to reach for my purse.
"Oh, please. I'll pay." she said and scooted off." there was a long queue and I knew she was going to be there for a while so I took out my phone and dialed Roland's number.
"Hey, Roland"
"I know, I heard everything."
"I don't think I can..."
"Why can't you? According to you, you guys didn't date for so long so I don't think there's a reason to get so emotionally active. Relax and act normal around him."
I was about to tell him that it wasn't actually easy when I felt someone tap on my shoulder, I looked up and it was Obinna, a completely bearded Obinna. I gulped.
" Dad, uhm. I'll talk to you later. I've got to go" I said to the phone.
"Be careful, sis" Roland answered and hanged up.
I looked up and said "Hi. You must be Obinna" he nodded and took a seat right in front of me. O my God. Why did he have to seat right in front of me. It's harder knowing he's even here, now he's staring at me. What if he..
"Wow, you're really actually Asian."
Dear oluwa. Please give me confidence.
"Yes, I'm Asian is there a problem?"
He narrowed his eye a bit and tapped on his chin.
"You know you remind me a lot of someone"
Now I've ruined everything. But he's talky for someone's that supposedly meant to be moody.
"Really, who?"
"Nevermind, She's...late"
The buzz in my ear came unprepared again. "Keep him talking, Rem. Don't stop"
"Oh, I'm sorry. Was she your friend or ex?"
"uh... You know what, we shouldn't be talking about her anymore, Aisha doesn't like it, speaking of Aisha, where's...oh, I see her." he nodded his head and signalled to a Smiley but tired looking Aisha, she was still like number 7 on the long line. More time to talk.
" Why wouldn't she like you talking about this girl?"
" Listen, Heaven right? I'm just going to give you a quick advice, mind your business around Aisha and her friends. Okay?"
Yeah, that's what had my family killed to be sincere, if only I'd minded my damned business.
At that moment, I wanted to scream to Obinna that I was Remi, I wanted to Shout 'Arrest Aisha and her friend and their parents! They're deadly ritualists. But I smiled instead.
"I understand, thank you" I said and was about to push my hair back when I remembered that it could trigger his thoughts to my real identity, I just whistled instead and pretended I didn't notice him gazing at me.
After what seemed like forever, Aisha came back with my order and more.
"I see you've met, Obinna"
I nodded. "Yeah, he's cool"
She gave a surprised face. "I think he's cold, not cool"
You're the coldest person in this place Aisha, and in due time I'll send you where you'll be more comfortable in your coldness, the morgue.
"He's been totally pleasant with me"
"You guys keep talking like I'm not here" Obinna said and dived into my pizza, ignoring the glare Aisha fixed on him as he popped it into his mouth.
"I thought you didn't like pepperoni." Aisha said and took a seat.
He shrugged, "Well hers looked good."
"But it's rude, I'm sure she won't eat any of it anymore."
"Jeez, fine I think what he did was a little bit sick but why wouldn't I eat something that looks as delicious as this" I said and dived into the pizza, noticing the look of curiosity on the face of Aisha and the smile plastered on the face of Obinna. It really felt good getting under her skin subtly, in fact, I enjoyed it. But I knew she wasn't going to display her madness, at least not right here and right now. We discussed a lot of nothings and by the time we'd eaten enough pizza we decided to call it a day, Obinna was the first to leave, apparently he still kept his delivery job. As we stepped out of the pizza place, Aisha said,
"Thanks for hanging out with my boyfriend and I"
.
Oooh someone sounds possessive. I knew she was definitely going to take offense in the way myself and Obinna related.
"I should be the one thanking you for bringing out of the boring world of my grandparents"
She smiled and waved my words aside. "So about the party,"
"Yeah, about that, I'll be there"
"Really?" She looked surprised.
"Yeah"
'I'll be there to send one of you out of the world' I thought and smiled as I hugged her and got into the Chang's vehicle.
