Chapter 12

Scarlett’s POV

Tomorrow is the last day of school before Easter break, I hadn’t talked to Aiden since that awkward dinner months ago, I still can’t believe I rejected the future Alpha,

“Please God don’t let my mother find out about this” I said this prayer every time the memory crept its way into my mind, no I don’t feel bad about what I did, it had to be done.

“Aren’t you packing?” Lisa asked

“I will pack tomorrow” I responded, and she looked at me like I was crazy,

“I just want to wash my blankets so they are nice and fresh when I get back, that’s what I will be doing tomorrow and once that’s done I will leave but I’m afraid the earliest I might get to leave will be Sunday afternoon” I said feeling like I had to explain myself, she nodded not convinced.

Classes ended at noon and by three pm everyone’s taxis had left, and I was all alone, not just in my house but in the entire campus, it felt nice, I enjoyed the silence, it reminded me of my walks in the woods back home, quiet, and tranquil.

The dining hall is closed during break so I went to the mall to get some food for the weekend, it was quiet, and I could even smell the fresh air, I love how this feels, when I got back to campus I looked around and I saw trees everywhere surrounding the campus at every corner, I stood at the top of the stairs right next to the assembly hall overlooking the beauty, and I took a deep breath in looking for that familiar forest smell.

“Oh no, Aiden” how is his scent still around? I thought to myself

“Maybe he just left, we are close to the gate after all” my wolf said reasoning with me trying to stop me from freaking out, I honestly don’t know what I would do if he was still around, just the two of us with no buffer, the thought brought back the memory of the kiss at his house, his hands under my shirt tugging and squeezing and my cheeks flushed.

“You’re right, he just left, we don’t need any drama this weekend” I said trying my best to believe those words. I got back to my room and listened to the radio until I fell asleep.

I woke up early the next morning full of energy, one more day and I get to see mom again, she always made a fuss, I wonder what she was going to do this time, I smiled to myself as I poured milk over my cereal and opened the door and stepped outside, it was a nice autumn day, and I wanted to feel the sun on my face, I walked out and raised my head and let the sun worm my face, it felt good and the smell of the grass in the morning was just heaven, with a smile on my face I dropped my head and opened my eyes,

“Aiden” I said choking on my cereal a little bit.

“Hi Scar, I knew you were still around” he said with a grin,

“I told you not to call me that… and how did you…oh my scent” I said in defeat.

“You look cute” he said with a chuckle, I was in my pj’s and couldn’t have felt more like a dork, especially since he looked hotter that I remember, or maybe it’s that shirt it did show off his muscles in a sexy kind of way his biceps looked chiselled and his six-pack looked like you can do laundry on it, he rustled his hair with his hand and I could clearly see his v-line, and for some reason it made my mouth water,

“You like what you see?” he asked with a smirk, making me realised that I was staring at him like a piece of meat.

“W... why are you still here?” I asked trying to change the subject,

“I was getting ready to leave and for some reason I had a strange urged to stay, I was on my way to the dining hall when I sported you with your head in the clouds” he said looking pleased with himself,

“You had a strange urge to stay, and you just obeyed just like that?”

“Yes, if that’s the answer that will make you stay and talk to me then yes, that’s the answer I will give you” he said looking down, I sensed a little pain in his voice, and it made my heart pain in response.

“The dining hall is closed during break I’m a little surprised you don’t know that” I looked at him quizzically,

“Come in I will make you something to eat” the words left my mouth before I could stop them.

“Thank you, my lady,” he said walking past me into my house, I rolled my eyes and followed him inside and watched as he sat on the counter and grab an apple.

“I don’t have much, so here are your only options do you want cereal or bread?” he looked at me considering my offer, well I will take the bread, I toasted the bread, and looked in the fridge for some butter and I noticed that there was still some bacon and an egg left, these clearly were Sara’s as she is the one that made sure that she had all her ingredients, she would throw a fit if something was missing from her menu items. I’m not an egg person never liked them so if Aiden hadn’t come around we would have come back to a very stinky fridge. I took out a frying pan and started cooking the bacon and egg, why am I going through so much trouble for this guy,

“So, your roommates have gone home?” he asked. His question making me realise that I was alone in the house with Aiden, I suddenly felt nervous when I realised how naked I was, I mean I was wearing my pj’s but with nothing underneath it was literally one fabric away from naked.

“Yes, everyone left yesterday” I said trying hard to hide my nervousness.

“Why didn’t you leave, why are you still hanging around?” he asked,

“Well, I want to wash my blankets before I go, I don’t want to come back to dirty blankets, I want them to be smelling fresh and clean when I get back” I said feeling proud of myself.

I handed him his food and we sat at the table

“I can help you know”, he said as a matter of fact, I considered his offer very seriously because I could really use the help those blankets can get really heavy when they’re wet a little help won’t hurt.

“That would be great, thank you” I said looking into his eyes and getting lost in them. I shook my head, got up and went to the bedroom to change into my shorts and tank top.

“Damn” I heard him say under his breath when he saw me, I didn’t show him that I heard I just turned away from him and grinned softly to myself.

“Once you’re done eating we can start” I said looking back at him noticing that he was undressing me with his eyes, the way he looked at me made my breath catch in my throat,

“Um…I will be in the bathroom when you’re ready” he gave me a confused look, I looked back at him with a smirk on my face

“oh, and I do my blankets old school” I said with a mischievous grin.
