Aiden’s POV

Scarlett must be half way home by now, I can feel her strength draining from her like a leaky faucet, she is so clueless she probably doesn’t realise that with the mark we are now connected, we are one, the further she gets from me the harder it will be for her to stay away, I can’t wait to see the look on her face when she runs back to me realising that her stubbornness won’t save her, and that her only chance of survival is me, she will have no choice but to submit.

With my Alpha gene the distance doesn’t affect me like it is affecting her, and since I’m the one who administered the bite, her energy goes from her cosmos into mine, in essence I get stronger the weaker she gets, but that strength is nothing compared to the strength we will have once we have mated. I will take mates over anything,

“Come to your senses woman and come home to me, I’m waiting… patiently” I said hoping my words will reach her somehow.

My phone rang,

“Hi, dad” I answered,

“You want me to meet you where?” I asked hoping I heard him wrong, I can’t go that far Scarlett won’t survive it,

“Can’t you come to my house on campus, its Easter break and…” he cut me off,

“yes sir, I will be there soon”. Scar, please hold on for me babe, I won’t let you die no matter what, I promise you, stay strong for me my love” I said heading to the back of the house into the woods, the only reason I hadn’t left this place is because I knew this was the maximum distance, beyond this point things can go south quickly, and with every step forward I felt her slipping away more and more,

“hold on Scar, please”, I’m sorry but even I can’t resist the Alpha’s call.

“Hi dad” I said finding him deep in the woods, he turned and looked at me, he looked older than I remembered his hair more white than grey, he seems to have lost a bit of weight as well, but still exuded strength and power in his maroon suit,

“You need to come home son, your mother is not well” he said without even greeting me, he was not usually like this, which meant moms condition was serious,

“Yes, I will sir, but why didn’t you just send a text.. I mean you didn’t have to…?” I couldn’t finish what I was saying, I felt her cosmos fading away and her time was running out fast, she was literally hanging on by a thread.

“SCARLETT!”

I screamed, turning around, and running faster than I had ever ran in my life before,

“no, no, no, come back, don’t go Scar please!” I jumped into the air shifting and ripping my cloths into pieces in the process, how could I have been so reckless, I stayed too far for too long,

“damn it, damn it” come back, running back to my house wasn’t going to be enough, I needed to restore all her strength and the only way to do that was to be right next to her.

“We haven’t had time, I still want to show you the world, I want to be your husband and I want you as my wife, this is not your time” I said running furiously through the streets,

“come on, come on, give me a sign babe, something… anything”

I willed myself to run faster, I can’t lose her, I just can’t live without her, please Scar, please don’t leave me.

“Yes”, there it is…her cosmos, I can feel her again, my heart filled with joy, and I howled ecstatic that my girl is back.

“that’s it, keep going babe, come back to me” I barked as I ran in wolf form through the streets, it’s either humans don’t pay attention or they thought I was just a really large dog, whatever it was I was thankful for it.

” I’m coming Scar, wait for me, please don’t leave me, not yet”
