Chapter 399 The end of the semester
Chapter 399 The end of the semester
Professor Dumbledore suddenly stood up from the staff table, interrupting the conversation between Schelling and others, and indirectly freeing Schelling from the Shura Field.
The auditorium was already much quieter than usual at a leaving party, and at this moment it was even quieter, with countless eyes focused on the principal.
Since the end of the Triwizard Tournament, there has been too much confusion and confusion among students. Even now, there are still rumors and speculations about the truth of what happened during the third task. However, Dumbledore did not allow others to ask Shaylin and Harry. The depressing atmosphere in the school was almost reaching its limit. Everyone wanted to find out what happened instead of continuing to suffer like this.
"Another year," said Dumbledore, looking at everyone, "an end."
"I have much to say to all of you tonight," said Dumbledore. "Perhaps it all began with the third task of the Triwizard Tournament, when the champion disappeared as you all witnessed."
Harry could feel the air grow stagnant, as if everyone was holding their breath, waiting for Dumbledore to tell the truth.
At this moment, Harry felt relieved, as if he didn't care about the matter anymore. He knew that Dumbledore would tell the truth, so all the slanders against him and even the stupid questions about his madness during this period became insignificant.
"The reason why the warriors disappeared is because someone tampered with the Goblet of Fire..." Dumbledore's words brought Harry back to his senses. He raised his head and looked at Dumbledore.
"The person who did this was a Death Eater named Barty Crouch Jr."
There was a faint whisper in the hall, and Harry saw Moody, who was sitting behind the staff desk, hit his cane hard and his face turned purple. He must hate Barty Jr. so much that his teeth itched.
"His purpose in doing this is to resurrect Voldemort—"
The discussion became louder, and Harry could clearly sense that Ron beside him shuddered unnaturally when he heard the mysterious man's name.
The other Gryffindors were not much better than Ron. Their faces were all livid, and Neville Longbottom almost fainted.
The most amazing thing was that there was no commotion at all from the Slytherin side. The entire long table was calm without a ripple.
Harry couldn't help but think viciously that these people must have known about Voldemort's return, and they might even be eager to join the Death Eaters. More likely, they were preparing some evil plan...
It was not until he looked at the Ravenclaw table that he realized that the students from Beauxbatons did not react much. Even the most beautiful Fleur Delacour was drinking red wine elegantly. Harry thought that these foreigners probably did not know how terrible the Dark Lord was.
When his eyes met the lovely chaser Zhang Qiu, he realized something was amiss.
There was no trace of fear on Zhang Qiu's face. She listened to Dumbledore's speech calmly and attentively. Next to her was Luna Lovegood, the most famous "crazy girl" in Ravenclaw. There was a faint smile on her face.
What's wrong with these people?
Could it be that he was scared silly by the name of Voldemort?
Not only did they show no fear when they heard the Dark Lord's name, Harry even noticed a hint of anticipation between their eyes.
"Yes, I must tell you, he succeeded," Dumbledore paused, and then, as everyone held their breath, he uttered a few words, "Voldemort has resurrected."
There was a tense whisper in the hall. Many students stared at Dumbledore in horror and disbelief, most of them from Gryffindor, followed by Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and almost no Slytherin.
Harry seemed very calm, watching them mutter and gradually fall silent. "The Ministry of Magic doesn't want me to tell you this." Dumbledore continued, "Some of your classmates' parents may be shocked by my actions, either because they can't believe that Voldemort is really back, or because they think I shouldn't tell you about this, after all, you are still young. However, I believe that telling the truth is always better than lying. If we continue to conceal the truth, no one will stand up to fight Voldemort, and the wizarding world will have no tomorrow!"
"Speaking of this, I have to mention two more people, Shaylin Malfoy and Harry Potter!"
Many heads turned to look at Shaylin and Harry, then quickly turned back to look at Dumbledore.
"Shaylin and Harry successfully escaped from Voldemort's clutches!" Dumbledore said, "They set an example for others. They showed a fearless spirit in all aspects. Few wizards can show this spirit when facing Voldemort's tyranny. For this, I pay tribute to them."
He turned solemnly to Sherin and Harry and raised his glass. Many others followed his example and everyone paid tribute to Sherin and Harry.
Most of the students were shocked to hear that the two of them were able to fight Voldemort, and they admired their courage.
"The purpose of the Triwizard Tournament is to strengthen and foster mutual understanding among the wizarding community. In light of what has happened now - in light of Voldemort's return from the dead - those links are more important than ever." Dumbledore looked from Madam Maxime and Hagrid to Fleur Delacour and her fellow Beauxbatons students, to Viktor Krum and the Durmstrang students at the Slytherin table.
"Every guest in this hall," said Dumbledore, his eyes resting on the Durmstrang students, "is welcome back at any time if they choose. I say to you all again - in view of Voldemort's return, we are only as strong as we are united; if we are divided, we are vulnerable. Voldemort is a master at creating conflict and enmity. Only if we demonstrate the same unbreakable friendship and trust can we defeat him to the end. As long as we share the same goal and open our hearts, differences in habits and language will not be obstacles."
"I really hope I am wrong - but I still have to say that the dark times have come, and we will face a difficult and gloomy period. Please remember that the more difficult the time, the more unity can demonstrate its value. When you have to choose between the right way and the shortcut, maybe you should look at the family and friends who are united around you - think about what they are fighting for until now."
Harry looked at the little wizards whispering around him and finally let out a sigh of relief.
These days, all kinds of attacks and smears against him have made him very depressed. Now Dumbledore has finally cleared his name and made everyone believe that he is a hero who escaped from Voldemort, which makes him feel very proud.
He cast his eyes provocatively towards the Slytherin table, only to see Shaylin, Draco and others discussing something enthusiastically, their expressions full of excitement and anticipation.
Harry felt a sudden surge of burning anger inside him.
Voldemort has resurrected, and everyone is immersed in fear, terror, and admiration for themselves. Why can the Slytherin students not take this seriously? Harry is almost certain that these people must be related to the Death Eaters, especially Shaylin Malfoy...
"Harry, that's great. Now all the rumors have been dispelled and no one will discredit you and Shaylin anymore," Hermione said happily.
Before Harry could react, Ron frowned tightly and said in a slightly dissatisfied tone: "It's okay for Harry, but when did Malfoy also get slandered and defamed?"
Hermione glared at Ron fiercely, like an angry lioness, and said, "Didn't you hear what Dumbledore said just now? Shaylin and Harry, they are both heroes of Hogwarts!"
Ron stood up from his chair, his face flushed.
Harry, who was originally feeling uncomfortable, regained his senses as he saw the atmosphere becoming increasingly tense. He quickly pulled Ron to sit down, but inexplicably remembered what Dumbledore had said -
"As long as you are willing to come back, you are welcome at any time. We can only be strong if we are united. If we are divided in front of Voldemort, we will be vulnerable."
