Chapter 105
Lily was excited none had come to blow her up. Certainly, Benson had been right. Calhoun wasn't in the office.
"If you want your little low life to be safe, then you will go as far away from him as possible! Do you understand?" Lily yelled gripping the ends of the table with her gloved hand.
"I am not a gold digger," Ariana tried to explain herself. The Lawson family were misunderstanding her. She wasn't after Calhoun for his money. In fact she wasn't after him. He came after her and her stubborn heart kept racing for him. This wasn't her fault.
"I don't care darling! Whether you are a gold digger or a thief or a prostitute! I don't give a damn! Neither does the rest of the family! We just want our Calhoun to be free from your pointy hands!" She added with fierceness.
Ariana felt her eyes itch and she knew she would cry at any moment but she tried to hold on to the little self esteem she had left.
Lily Lawson got up from the seat and picked up her bottle. She uncorked it one more time and turned the opened bottle to the table, spilling the water to the table.
"Oh my God!" Ariana gasped, jumping to her feet. Her eyes burnt with shame as she looked on to Lily soiling her work with water.
"I hope I have been very clear dear. The next time the family sends me to you, I won't be this friendly," she said spilling water all over the papers on Ariana's table.
She dropped the bottle on the table and turned around with her long dress and made her way to the door. When she got there she stepped right out with a big smile on her face. Her mission was perfect. No one was around to stop her. Now she was certain Ariana would run very far away from Calhoun and the foolish boy would spend the rest of his life with a broken heart.
The workers at the reception area where surprised to see her and they all watched her from under their lashes. No one wanted to step on Lily Lawson's shoes. She was just a daughter-in-law but she had the influence of a true daughter.
As she got to her car the driver pulled the door open for her and she slipped in. She took out her phone and called her husband.
"Sweetheart, the plan was a success!" She said with happiness. It always brought her joy to bring pain to Calhoun. The boy thought he was untouchable. Now, he had no where to run. If she couldn't hurt him directly, she could now hurt the one he seemed to love.
"That's great. Leave there at once and come home. Grandfather has received the Brentwood. I think they can help us," he said in a shushed voice like he was hiding somewhere.
"The Brentwood? You think they can help us?" She asked her husband as the driver started the car.
"Where next ma'am?" The driver asked from behind the steering wheel.
Lily turned to his side. "Take me home." She then returned her attention to the phone.
"The Brentwood can help us. Come on home fast!" Benson urged her.
She ended the call and tried to think of how she was going to start the conversation with them. They would have of course come to the mansion to see Mr Lawson Senior, but she could always hijack them from him. She needed to get a contract for her husband and she didn't care if she had to destroy Calhoun completely to achieve it. She would.
The car soon got to the mansion and she went down immediately rushing to the living room where she knew the guests will be seated with grandfather. But as she got there, she found the room empty. Had they left? She wondered.
She started making her way to the left wing, where she and her family occupied at the moment. But as she passed grandfather's office she heard a lady's voice. Unable to help herself, she came closer and leaned her ears to the door.
"Grandfather, I love Calhoun. I don't see myself with someone else! How can you tell me to let go?" The lady was saying.
This got Lily's interest. This must be Alice Brentwood, she was on television a few days ago and she wanted Calhoun this much. She would just have to wait for her to leave grandfather's office.
Lily moved away from the office door and went to her side of the house to change into more comfortable clothes.
"Have you seen her?" Benson asked the moment the door opened.
Lily threw her bag on the bed and turned her back to her husband. "Come help me take out this zip. I have to run back there to catch her when she is leaving." She rushed taking off the gloves.
"Easy Lily! I paid a lot of money to rent these!" Benson scolded. This was their trump card and they were putting in all their resources to make it work.
"Don't worry about it, by the time we are done with this. We will have enough money to pay for it in ten folds!" Lily said with a large grin.
The dress finally came off and she threw on a shirt dress that reached her knees. She dabbed a little bit of make up on her face and checked herself out on the mirror.
"You look amazing, now go out there!" Benson said pushing her away from the mirror.
Lily slipped on her slippers and walked out of the room finally. She checked the large windows by the corridor walls and saw that the Brentwood were still in, since their car was packed in front of the mansion. she walked as fast as she could till she got to the office one more time. She took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
"Who is there? Come in," Grandfather Lawson asked from within.
Lily wore a large smile and pushed the door open. Her smile grew even bigger as she saw that old man Brentwood was also there. All she had to do was still Alice.
"Father I am awfully sorry I disrupted your meeting but I need to speak with Miss Alice Brentwood, it's very important! Please! " she said placing her hands together like in a prayer.
"But Lily, we are clearly having a discussion here," Mr. Lawson senior retorted with cold eyes.
Alice looked at her with cautious eyes. But she didn't want to do anything that might offend the Lawson so she got up from her seat.
"It's fine. You and father can catch up so long," Alice said getting up. In her mind, she hoped whatever the Lily woman was calling her for was worth the trouble.
