Chapter 116
Calhoun got the best real estate agents to search for a new apartment for Aria. She was now his responsibility. He couldn’t let her keep staying with those people she shared a building with. Plus that good for nothing ex-boyfriend of hers needed to be stopped. Calhoun didn’t care if he came from a wealthy family too, he would have to be stopped if he refused to stay away from Aria.
He had just come out of a meeting with his associates when his phone rang out.
“Calhoun Lawson,” he replied with authority.
“Sir, Mr. Ethan is in the office building and he is refusing to listen to anybody…” Zion stuttered.
Calhoun was about to wave the call off because he hated how Zion acted like a chicken sometimes but the name he had mentioned rang out in his ears. “Did you just say, Ethan?” Calhoun asked in a low dangerous voice.
“Yes, he’s here and he’s making a scene.” Zion confirmed.
“I will be down in a minute.” Calhoun ended the call and gave a few minutes for his associates to exit the building before he went down his private elevator to the reception area.
The scene in front of him was numb racking. Ethan was swaying around and throwing curses at everyone and anything. He didn’t even realize that the person he wanted to see so badly was already behind him.
“I am not leaving this place until I see your so called boss!” Ethan spat angrily. “Does he think we are scared of him? If you are all scared of him, I am not! He should come out here right now or I will burn this place down!” Ethan was dragging his words and Calhoun could tell he had drank himself to stupor. For a brief second he started pitying the guy. He would probably tear down mountains if he was lost Aria for whatever reason but Ethan had been foolish. This was his fault. He had broken Aria’s heart and Calhoun would make him pay for it.
“Zion, call the security and let them throw this man out!” Calhoun growled feeling anger washing over him the more he stared at Ethan. He had made Aria vulnerable! What if it had been someone else that night? What would have become of her?
These thoughts made Calhoun’s anger grow at a dangerous rate. If he could get his hands on him, he would give him a good beating for all the pain he had caused Ariana.
The security agents were already gathered close by waiting for instructions and as Calhoun pronounced it, they wait for Zion to give the go ahead. They jumped on Ethan, leading him outside the building gate and dropped right by his car as the politely asked him to evacuate the building and the area altogether.
“I am not leaving here until I see Calhoun! Where is Calhoun!?” he slurred.
“Sir please leave this place. Do not let us use hard means on you!” Zion warned him.
Ethan stopped moving around and turned to Zion’s direction. It was like he was only seeing him now for the first time.
“You! I know you!” Ethan exclaimed moving finger dangerously close to Zion. “Yes, I know you nerdy boy! You work here?” he squeaked. He came at Zion but his legs felt heavy and he almost lost his balance. “Tell him to come out here now! And don’t you dare threaten me! You should know exactly the kind of power I have. Even your boss can’t stop me!”
“Oh I can’t but the police can! If you don’t get out of here right now they will come and throw you out!” Calhoun finally said making his presence known.
Ethan stopped fighting with the security guards and glared at Calhoun. He watched him carefully taking in his features. He studied Calhoun’s entirety as he tried to compare in vain what could be so much better in Calhoun.
What did Calhoun Lawson have that he didn’t?
Why did Aria have to pick him? What was so special about him?
“Did you hear what I said or do I have to include the national security now!” Calhoun growled in anger.
“Why?” was Ethan’s only word.
“Why did she have to pick you?”
Calhoun understood that Ethan was just a broken man looking for redemption. He had better things to do than to stand there and listen to a grown man sulk over his countless mistakes. Calhoun turned to leave. “Zion, call the police and have this man thrown out. After that call the lawyer and have him sue him for harassment and name defamation. He should pin as many things as he can on him… tell him to make sure Ethan doesn’t come back here!” Calhoun ordered as he walked out of the place.
Ethan was bundled out of the place and he returned home with his hang over. He wasn’t as drunk as Calhoun had thought he was. He just needed the alcohol to help numb his senses but as he got home Kelvin was waiting by the door for him.
“I told you to stay away from me, why are you here?” Ethan groaned as he stepped out of his vehicle.
“Sir, you haven’t been coming to the office for days now. Your uncle is worried. Sales have been going down and things are not looking good.” Kelvin lamented.
“And what makes you people think I care about all of that?” Ethan spat as he made his way into the house like a belly dancer. His legs barely touched the ground as he moved along the tiles. The only thing on his mind was to get to his bed and sleep. He knew he had done enough damage and he would do more as long as Aria refused to return to him.
“But sir, this isn’t good for the company. Till when will you continue like this?” Kelvin continued refusing to give up on him. Everyone were giving up on him lately but Kelvin refused to leave. Aside his playboy attitude, Ethan was a good man and all he needed was some kind of motivation to stand back up again.
