Chapter 121
"Hello, Alice this is my son, Noah. He will help with the public,” Lily said with a bright smile.
Alice looked at the man Lily had brought with her to her house. He even had the audacity to wave at her. She raised her brows at the action and turned to Lily.
"How do you mean he will help with the public?" She asked in her usual high pitched voice.
Lily smiled widely before speaking. "Remember I mentioned we were going to sort the issue you have with the media?" She asked.
Alice did remember. In fact her question wasn't as Lily interpreted it. What she meant was why she had brought the boy to her house?
"Lily, first of all, you and I have unfinished business and Now you bring your son, that's what I need an explanation for. What's going on?" Alice asked.
"Won't you at least offer us a place to seat?" Noah asked with a smirk plastered on his face. "My mother is just being helpful here and seriously I have other things to do too. Do not be a cruel host," He stated with the same confidence as his mother.
Alice's face was morphed in a permanent scowl as she tried to decipher between the mother and the son whom she couldn't stand the most. But in the end, Noah was right. She needed their help.
"Fine, let's take a seat," she said reluctantly.
Lily and her son moved to the nearest seats and made themselves comfortable. Alice sat at the edge of the seat closest to the door and folded her arms. "Now, why did you lie to me about being Calhoun's favourite aunt?" She spat.
"Well, I did that because it is something I have always dreamt to become... They say hope for greatness and it shall be yours, that's all I am doing," Lily said with laughter in her voice.
Alice narrowed her eyes at the woman in anger. Did she think she was a fool? Or she was a little girl she could lie to with big words?
"Lily, that doesn't answer the why. I want someone who can convince Calhoun that I am the one for him. Someone Calhoun can actually listen to. Not someone he hates!" She cried out.
Lily held her chest and feigned pain. "And who said my dear Nephew hates me?" She asked looking around like she was performing a theatrical drama.
"It is written in every tabloid there is on the internet..." Sofia's sharp voice rang out from the corridor as her heels made tiny clicking sounds, a signal of her approach.
"Ah, this must be the beautiful Sofia Brentwood," Noah announced rising to his feet to welcome her like he was the host of the tiny party.
"And you must be the undesired grandson of the Lawson, Noah," Sofia spat back with a stretch of her hand.
Noah felt his cheeks turn pink with anger at the innocent she had just thrown at him but he gritted his teeth and shook her hand nevertheless.
"I am so glad you decided to join us," Alice said shifting on the seat to create space for her sister.
"I couldn't leave you with these fake people. Why do you even entertain them?" Sofia asked with a wave of her hand like Lily and her son were not existing.
"I want Calhoun that's why I put up with people like this..." Alice breathed out in frustration like Lily and her son were now some sort of plague.
Lily wasn't happy with the way the Brentwood were ganging up against her and her son. This was supposed to be her trump card. Her wining game. She couldn't seat back and watch everything fade away.
"As I sit here, Mr Lawson Senior is already convincing Calhoun to call off the wedding with that girl! And I made him do it based on the information you gave to me!" Lily retorted in a stern voice.
Sofia stopped her lashed eyes to glare at Lily who had dared raise her voice at them. "What information are you talking about?" She snarled while Alice started batting her eyes as her conscience started judging her.
Lily smiled as she regained control of the situation. She adjusted on the seat and raised her brow for Noah to continue the conversation.
"Your sister, told my mother that Ariana Brown was a cheap girl that took advantage of your good heart and ended up snatching your boyfriend, Ethan John," Noah said as he pulled his suit jacket back unto his shoulders. He felt like a businessman about to seal a major deal.
"Yes, she took advantage of our kind heart!" Alice cried out and Sofia turned to her sister now. Something wasn't right.
But before Sofia could question her sister, Lily spoke up again.
"You claimed to be the victim but the true story states that reverse was actually the case..." Lily whispered. "Sofia here, actually crawled her way unto Ethan John's bed and Ariana Brown who had happened to be his long time girlfriend at the time, caught them in bed."
"Afterwards, Alice sacked her from her position which we were she was really good at... Alice also made sure that she never got a job somewhere else," Noah added.
"So you see, I wasn't the only one who lied to get what I wanted. Alice you lied too and your lie is greater for if it backfires, Mr Lawson Senior, would see you for who you truly are..." Lily finished her speech and sat back to watch it grow fruit.
Alice and Sofia exchanged looks. Sofia realised Lily was right; her sister had lied.
"You brought this upon yourself. If you had let the poor girl be, she wouldn't have gotten a job with Calhoun and they might have never met. You need our help, Alice," Noah said eyeing up Sofia. If things went well in this plan of theirs, he could end up with more than just a fat pocket.
"Well, you are still of no help to us if you can't convince Calhoun!" Sofia said defiantly. She was going to sit still and watch her sister being dragged to the mud.
"Didn't you hear what she said earlier?" Noah asked.
