Chapter 122
"You are still of no use to us if you can't convince Calhoun!" Sofia said defiantly. She was going to sit still and watch her sister being dragged to the mud.
"Didn't you hear what she said earlier?" Noah asked. "My grandfather is speaking to Calhoun about calling off the whole thing with Ariana!"
The room fell into a silent spell as everyone thought about their next action carefully. They needed each other for various reasons yes, but they needed one another.
"Do you think, Calhoun will listen to him?" Alice broke the silence.
Noah scoffed settling further into the seat while Lily answered. "Calhoun is as stubborn as an animal. He won't listen to him that's why we had another plan set up."
Sofia turned to share sights with her sister again before she spoke. "What plan did you set in place? is Ariana going to leave Calhoun at the end of it?"
"Yes. That is the bigger picture. If Ariana doesn't leave Calhoun none of us has achieved their goals!" Lily spat with determination as if she spoke to a larger audience.
"When Calhoun refuses Grandfather's wishes, he would demand that Ariana comes to stay over in the main house with us. When she does come, we will treat her so badly, she will wish she never met a Lawson in her life!" Noah concluded.
"Perfect!" Sofia exclaimed clapping her hands. "I want Ariana to suffer for what she has done! My sister should be married by now. Not these!"
Alice who had been quiet through out the whole conversation finally spoke up. "How about the media?!" Alice asked. She has been closed up in the house for weeks now. She was scared of leaving the house because she didn't want them flooding her about her claims few weeks ago.
"That's why I brought my son, Noah," Lily said motioning to her son. "He will hold an interview with you and you both can convince the public that you are truly getting married to Calhoun. How about that?" Lily finished.
Alice exchanged looks with her sister. Sofia nodded and Alice turned back to Lily. "Great, I will call the reporter and we will book a session." She was grateful this option has been presented. She couldn't go on without it. Getting Calhoun to do the interview was totally impossible but his cousin would get this done just fine.
"That will be wonderful!" Lily exclaimed.
Noah smiled too but his eyes was more on the attractive Sofia. Alice was good too but he would rather go for the younger sister. His mother told him to play his game around the older sister for she held most of their family shares but he was feeling more drawn to the younger Brentwood. She looked like fire in a cold night and his groin was already hurting just by watching her from where he sat.
Alice excused herself and went to the next room to make the call to the reporter, leaving Sofia with the Lawson's.
Sofia felt eyes on her exposed legs and turned to find Noah checking her out like she was the food on his menu. Her blood curled and she felt like slapping the smug look off his face. The only one who could look at her in that manner was Ethan and no one else.
"What do you want?" She snarled getting Lily's attention.
Lily moved her calculative eyes between them, wondering what had made Sofia snap like that.
"My throat is parched just by staring at you, may I get something to drink?" Noah said passing his tongue over his lips.
"I am not the maid here, am I?" Sofia retorted with fire in her voice. It was irritating her even more that the guy was enjoying the situation.
Noah moved to the edge of his seat and rubbed his palms together like he was preparing to have the best meal of his life. "Of course you aren't. But you are my host... And I really need something to quench this feeling..." He whispered hoarsely.
Lily raised her eyes in surprise. She got the message as clear as day. Noah was trying to get himself between Sofia's legs and from the way she was reacting, Lily was certain it was going against her son. She had to step in.
The only wise thing to do was to turn it into a joke. Lily burst into laughter, causing Sofia and Noah to turn to stare at her.
"Sofia dear, please forgive Noah. He has a weird way of requesting for things!" She said amidst the fake laughs.
Noah raised his brow at his mother. He couldn't get why she wanted to change what he was trying to create. He was about defending himself when the door Alice had disappeared behind opened.
"She has fixed the evening for the interview. We will need to start rehearsing as soon as possible. My entire reputation depends on it," Alice stated as she walked to where they sat.
"That's great!" Lily said clapping her hands with excitement. Things were finally back on her path and she could dream about her future once again.
Sofia rolled her eyes and got up from the seat she had once occupied. "Alice please, handle your guests, I have better things to do!" She mumbled walking away from them. Lily's son was getting under her nerves and the fact that she was horny, was not helping. She needed Ethan and no one else.
Sofia walked back to her room, leaving her sister to her problems. She had her own problems. Even if Alice succeeded in getting Calhoun to love her, it still didn't mean that Ethan was going to take her. The guy was obsessed with that good for nothing girl. And nothing Sofia did pleased him.
She got to her room and sat on her bed. Her core was aching, her heart was bleeding and the rest of her was just numb. She took out her phone and dialed his number. Maybe just hearing his voice would make her feel better.
"What do you want?" Ethan growled on the phone making Sofia's heart leap.
